The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 95: Yang Guihua’s Dilemma
Ling Feng thought he would reach the boss’ wife’s place early, but just as he arrived at the county town, the engine of the tricycle suddenly made a screeching noise, and afterward, no matter how Ling Feng twisted the throttle, it just wouldn’t move!
After getting off to check, Ling Feng saw black smoke billowing from the engine and was speechless!
This vehicle had been bought over three years ago and wasn’t usually used much, but recently it had been used rather frequently, and unexpectedly, it broke down just like that!
Luckily, he was already in the county town, and there was a repair shop by the roadside, so he hurriedly pushed the tricycle there.
The mechanic squatted down to take a look, then stood up with a look of helplessness, shaking his head: "This engine is broken and it’s not easy to fix. The cost of the repairs would almost be enough to buy a new one!"
Ling Feng, feeling helpless as well, asked, "Then what about this bike, do you recycle the battery?"
"Yes, let me check the battery." The mechanic glanced at it for a few moments, then looked up at Ling Feng and said, "Including the frame, I’ll give you five hundred for it. If that works for you, then leave it behind; if not, you can look elsewhere."
He had spent over three thousand when buying it, and now it was only worth five hundred, Ling Feng felt somewhat imbalanced, but having made a good sum of money recently, and with more than twenty thousand yuan worth of mushrooms on the vehicle, he didn’t dwell on it!
So he nodded: "Five hundred it is, but don’t touch the vehicle for now. Wait until I buy a new one and move everything over, then it’s yours."
"Don’t worry, I have that much integrity. Go ahead and buy your vehicle, I absolutely won’t touch your stuff!" the mechanic nodded and assured him.
Ling Feng turned around and left, hailing a taxi to the place where he previously bought his tricycle.
Two hours later, he drove a larger brand new tricycle back to the repair shop.
Since he would be often transporting goods, he simply spent a bit more money and bought this larger electric tricycle, capable of carrying over a thousand jin, to prevent any issues when he had a lot to haul in the future.
After the transfer was complete, when Ling Feng left the repair shop to head to the southern suburbs of the county town, it was already ten o’clock in the morning.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, the tricycle approached the back gate only to find the door shut, which was quite unexpected.
Normally, by this time of day, the door would have already been open, but today it wasn’t?
Ling Feng found this odd, so he parked the tricycle and walked to the front gate, seeing that it too was closed. A few young men were squatting at the doorstep, looking bored, prompting him to ask in confusion, "What are you all doing here?"
"Who are you? The restaurant is closed today, go away, don’t cause trouble!" One of the young men, with a cigarette behind his ear, said.
Ling Feng glanced at them, sensing they weren’t good people, but without asking further, he went to the door and knocked.
"Hey, didn’t you hear our bro talking to you? We’re closed today, scram!" The group of young men stood up and surrounded Ling Feng.
"You’re not from the restaurant, who are you to say it’s closed?" Ling Feng sized them up.
"So what if we’re not? We’re in charge today, don’t look for trouble if there’s none, just get lost!" the cigarette-clad leader, Gang, shouted.
No sooner had he finished speaking than Ling Feng had already kicked him in the stomach, sending Gang stumbling back several steps, then collapsing to the ground with a thud!
"Fuck, he dares to hit us, brothers, beat him up!"
The remaining young men paused for a moment and then rushed up swinging their fists.
Ling Feng was no longer the frail country boy he used to be. Seeing several people charge at him, he smirked and with a few thuds of his fists, he knocked them all down!
Several people were lying on the ground, writhing in pain. Ling Feng ignored them, stepped over to the man named Gang, squatted down, and asked, "What’s going on?"
Gang felt as if his stomach were churning violently, both painful and uncomfortable. He opened his mouth and vomited a mouthful of yellowish fluid, then raised his head to look at Ling Feng, "Kid, you dare to lay hands on us, be man enough not to run away!"
"If I dare to hit you, I’m not afraid of you. I’m asking you a question now," Ling Feng said, seeing that Gang was still defiant. He stepped on Gang’s hand and ground his foot into it!
"It hurts, it hurts!"
Gang’s face was contorted with pain, and he quickly cried out for mercy.
But before he could speak, the restaurant door suddenly opened. The proprietress, Yang Guihua, called out anxiously from inside, "Ling Feng, stop hitting him!"
"Sis, what’s going on?" Ling Feng asked, turning away from Gang to the doorway.
Yang Guihua grabbed his arm and pulled him inside, then locked the door. She looked worried and said, "Why did you fight with them? These guys are all local thugs, and troubling them won’t end well!"
"They were blocking your entrance. How are you supposed to run a business like this? Sis, didn’t you call the police?" Ling Feng asked, seeing how nervous she was.
"I did, but these guys didn’t really do anything too out of line. They’d be locked up for two or three days and then released. There’s nothing I can do!" Yang Guihua said, her face a picture of distress.
Ling Feng was somewhat speechless. Weren’t these people like annoying sticky plasters?
He looked at Yang Guihua, "Sis, what exactly do they want?"
"These guys were all sent by someone named Er Lengzi. He wanted to take over my restaurant before, but I refused. I didn’t expect him to pull this kind of stunt!" Yang Guihua sighed.
Only then did Ling Feng understand. His eyes narrowed, "He’s got some nerve. He’s jealous of your profitable business!"
"Yes, I’m out of options now. If it comes down to it, I might as well just sell the restaurant to him, start anew somewhere else, and save myself the trouble. We can’t afford to mess with these types of people!" Yang Guihua said, feeling helpless.
Hearing her say that, a surge of pride rose in Ling Feng’s heart, "I refuse to believe we can’t deal with them. I’m not selling it to him. Let them come and see how I handle them!"
Yang Guihua was startled, "Please don’t, you can’t afford to provoke those guys!"
"Who says? I just took down those few guys in a matter of moments. You didn’t see it, did you, sis?" Ling Feng asked with a grin.
"What’s the use? These types of people are like persistent annoyances. They will still come and cause trouble after you leave, and they might even escalate their actions!" Yang Guihua said, worried.
Ling Feng understood and after a moment, smiled and said, "Turns out you’re quite faint-hearted, sis. Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to stop them from ever daring to harass you again!"
"What?"
Yang Guihua was bewildered, her eyes wide as she looked at him, "What do you plan to do?"
"You’ll see soon enough!" Ling Feng chuckled.
Outside, the man named Gang and his lackeys had gotten up from the ground. In the few minutes it had taken the two to speak, he had made a call for backup. Soon after, the roar of engines could be heard outside the restaurant, and about a dozen burly men jumped out of three cars.
Yang Guihua watched this scene through the window from inside the house, trembling with fear, her speech faltering, "Li-Ling Feng, so many people have come!"
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here," Ling Feng said with a slight smile.
