Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Windwhisper Art, Assassins’ Guild

"You... Hmph!" Lucas felt a heavy pressure in his chest. He let out a cold snort, turned on his heel, and stormed off in a huff.

"Oh, that temper is just like Miss Lilia’s," Simon murmured to himself, watching the scene with a smirk. "I hope Lucas doesn’t end up coughing up blood from all this anger."

Just like that, Allen joined the City Lord’s Mansion.

Lilia immediately ordered her servants to clean out a guest room, making sure it was spotless. Better yet, she had it placed right next to her own bedroom.

This made Lucas even madder.

He knew Allen’s identity and didn’t actually mind them being together. Still, watching the daughter he had raised for over a decade being sucked dry by that scoundrel just made him feel uneasy.

Allen looked around the clean, neat room and the soft bed, feeling completely satisfied. It was a hundred times better than the slums he used to live in.

Creak!

Suddenly, the door pushed open. Lilia snuck in, looking around furtively.

Allen jumped in shock and turned his gaze alertly. "What are you doing? I’m trying to sleep."

"It’s still early. Why sleep so soon?" Lilia glared at him and pulled out a chair to sit down.

Early?

Allen glanced outside at the pitch-black night. It was already deep into the second watch. Two more hours until dawn.

Although he didn’t need rest, it was inappropriate for a man and woman to be alone in a room at night, especially in the City Lord’s Mansion. If this went wrong, Lucas might storm in with a knife and try to kill him.

The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed. He immediately grabbed Lilia’s arm, pushed her out of the room, and said, "Miss, I really need to sleep. Let’s talk about this tomorrow."

Slam!

The door was shut heavily.

"You!" Lilia stood by the door, kicked it hard in anger, and stormed off.

Lucas, hiding in the shadows, let out a long sigh of relief. Then, his anger flared again. "This brat is too rude! He actually kicked my baby girl out! I’ll have to teach him a lesson soon!"

Simon rolled his eyes and spoke up. "My Lord, you weren’t like that a moment ago. When Miss Lilia entered the room, you wanted to rip that guy to pieces. Now that she’s been kicked out, you’re upset."

"Simon, you’re interfering too much!" Lucas gritted his teeth, threatening him angrily. "If that kid wasn’t the Heavenly King’s descendant, I would have already struck."

Simon smiled and changed the subject. "Let’s focus on how to deal with the Church of Light. To completely remove the threat, we need a legitimate reason to attack them openly."

Lucas nodded, his expression hesitant. "I do have a plan, but..."

"The Miss will need to take a risk," Simon interjected.

The two had the same idea.

"You thought of it too?" Lucas nodded and continued, "But there’s another problem. The priest is strong, and the Church of Light has a formation protecting it. We need to figure out how to draw him out."

"Then we need a bait," Simon said with a confident smile; he already had a plan in mind.

"The Elven Saintess?" Lucas nodded, then added, "That’s a good bait, but will she agree?"

"Don’t worry. The Miss has a good relationship with the Saintess, and Allen is the Heavenly King’s descendant. The Saintess will agree. I’ll visit her personally tomorrow to explain," Simon said. He already knew that the Church of Light—specifically the capital’s headquarters—had put a bounty on the Elven Saintess, so she wouldn’t refuse.

"Dad, Simon, what are you doing here?"

Just as they were about to leave, Lilia spotted them. She ran over quickly.

"Simon, give me the cultivation notes you promised to compile!" She held out her small hand, demanding them.

Simon froze. He’d been so busy these past two days that he completely forgot about this.

Lilia frowned. "Not written? Then stay up all night and write it now."

Simon turned pale, looking at Lucas. "City Lord, I totally agree with you now—we really should teach that kid a beating!"

"What?" Lilia put her hand on her hip and glared at Lucas, her tone sharp. "Dad, are you going to beat up Allen?"

"Don’t listen to him," Lucas panicked immediately, realizing he might have said too much. "It’s Simon who wants to beat him up!"

Lucas knew his daughter’s temper all too well. He had spoiled her for years, and she was capable of actually hitting him.

Before Simon could react, Lucas turned and fled.

Simon tried to run too, but Lilia blocked his path, frowning. "Simon, I’m watching you finish those cultivation notes tonight."

Helpless, Simon reached into his robes and pulled out a manual. "The notes I’ve been working on might not suit Allen anyway. How about I give him this Cultivation Method?"

"Windwhisper Art?" Lilia’s eyes lit up. This was a High Tier mental cultivation method of Arcane Grade!

"Thanks, Simon! You’re really the best to me," she said with a bright smile, snatching the manual and running straight toward Allen’s bedroom.

"You should stop," Simon hurriedly called out. "He’s already asleep. Don’t disturb him. Give it to him tomorrow."

"Oh," Lilia pouted, her lower lip sticking out in reluctance. She reluctantly turned and walked back to her own room.

"Sigh, it’s true that daughters grow up and drift away," Simon sighed. At that moment, he finally understood how Lucas felt.

...

Bang! Bang!

Morning had just broken when Allen’s door was knocked on violently.

"Who is it?" Allen had only just drifted off to sleep, and he was annoyed. "What is it?"

"Open the door, it’s me," Lilia’s voice came from the other side.

Allen sighed, dragged himself out of bed, and opened the door. Seeing a perky and energetic Lilia standing there, he asked in confusion, "Miss Lilia, are you usually this diligent?"

"Haven’t you heard that the whole day’s work begins in the morning?" Without waiting for an answer, Lilia slipped into the room, slapped the manual onto the table, and declared, "Allen, I’ve got something great for you!"

"What is it?" Allen rubbed his sleepy eyes, looking over curiously. It was a manual, a mental cultivation method titled Windwhisper Art.

Lilia explained, "This is a Cultivation Method focused on mastering the wind element. It’s an Arcane Grade High Tier manual."

"What?" Allen gasped, his sleepiness vanishing instantly. He reached out to take it, but Lilia slapped his hand away.

"Hey, this Cultivation Method isn’t free," Lilia said, tossing her head back with a proud smirk. Her long, fair neck gleamed like polished jade.

Allen calmed down and sat opposite her. "Speak. What are your terms?"

Lilia thought for a moment. "I want half the gold coins you made from selling your crystal cores."

Maybe it was just spending too much time with him, but she was getting a bit greedy herself.

"No problem," Allen agreed without hesitation.

An Arcane Grade High Tier mental cultivation method was worth hundreds of millions of gold coins, and such items were rare and priceless. Giving Lilia a few million gold was nothing. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Not so fast!"

Lilia stopped him again. "You have to agree to one more condition."

Allen became alert. "As long as you don’t try to suck my blood."

Lilia’s brows furrowed in annoyance. "Then make it three conditions."

Allen thought for a second. "Fine. As long as they aren’t too unreasonable or go against my will."

"Deal!" Lilia grinned with mischievous success. She handed over the manual. "You’re a Heaven-Cursed. This magic-focused Cultivation Method suits you better. Forget the Martial Sect Cultivation Method you were using before."

Allen nodded silently. He didn’t explain.

He could cultivate nine mental cultivation methods at once. Right now, he had only three. If he encountered a more powerful method later, he would then choose to forget his Martial Sect Cultivation Method.

Allen opened the manual immediately and began to cultivate.

[You have mastered Windwhisper Art. Current Rank: 1, Level: 1. Your four basic attributes increase by +6 points, and your Spirit attribute increases by an extra +26 points!]

The system message flashed. Allen was shocked. Just leveling up an Arcane Grade High Tier mental cultivation method by one level instantly granted him 50 attribute points.

What would happen if he leveled up higher-tier methods like Epic Grade or Divine Grade mental cultivation methods?

Allen’s heart raced with excitement. He was cultivating nine mental cultivation methods. Aside from the Art of Immortality, there were eight others. If he could get eight Divine Grade High Tier mental cultivation methods, how massive would his power increase be?

He dared not even imagine.

Lilia watched Allen excitedly flipping through the manual, her hands supporting her rosy cheeks. "Allen, what are you planning to do today?"

Allen put the manual down. "I want to pick out a few more skill books, then head to the Assassins’ Guild."

"The Assassins’ Guild?" Lilia’s eyes lit up with interest. "Why go there?"

"To become a Killer and take missions," Allen replied. "If I can put out a 1 million gold coin bounty on myself, surely making money as a Killer must be a walk in the park?"

Ever since the failed assassination attempt, Allen had been plotting this. He had even tracked down the location of the Assassins’ Guild.

Hidden deep underground, the guild was much more organized than the underground casino.

"I’m going with you!" Lilia said, her voice buzzing with excitement.

"You want to become a Killer too? Don’t be silly," Allen sighed. "You’re the City Lord’s daughter. Do you really need money?"

Allen knew that Killers were usually desperate criminals or desperate adventurers who couldn’t make a living otherwise.

Lilia pouted, unhappy with his doubt. "So you can become a Killer, but I can’t? Why not?"

Allen had no answer; she was right.

Besides, as a vampire, Lilia’s identity actually made her a better fit for being a Killer than he was.
