The Heiress' Revenge-Chapter 112
A R I A N A
I was sitting in the garden on the phone with Sarah complaining about the little incident that have been happening since Melissa got here.
"...so she’s sleeping in my room for now but she’s being so brave about it. I hope she gets better real quick," I said.
I heard a sound and looked up. Melissa was walking towards me with a strange look on her face.
My brows furrowed, "I have to go Sarah. I’ll call you back," I said quickly.
I ended the call and put on a polite smile. "Melissa... Hello. How are you—-"
Melissa stopped in front of me cutting me off with a scoff, . "You can cut the crap Ariana. I know you don’t like me....You don’t need to pretend."
I was taken aback. "I... I don’t know what you mean."
"Don’t play dumb," she said, her voice cold. "I see the way you look at me with so much hate, I know you wish I wasn’t here. Well, the feeling is mutual. I don’t like you either."
My polite smile vanished. "Then why are you here? In my home? Huh? You know I’ve always had a bad feeling about you and I thought I was just being paranoid. Turns out I was actually right."
"Your home?" she laughed. "This was supposed to be my home Ariana... it has always been mine, you stole my place in Dante’s life and you took everything that should have been mine"
I hissed in frustration. "What are you talking about? I didn’t steal anything from you... you may have been college friends but over the years Dante met me and he fell in love... so don’t you come here and lecture me about taking everything from you because he was never yours in the first place"
"You have his name, his his children and you have his love or at least you think you do," she sneered. "But I’m here to take it all back Ariana, you’re such a sweet little girl to think Dante would actually settle for less, but don’t you worry... I will save him the burden of being with you and take him away...I will make sure of it."
My heart pounded at her words, amazed by her audacity, how dare she come to my home and speak to me like that?
"I always knew there was something off about you," I snapped, standing up. "My instinct told me you were a crook a fucking liar. I should have listened to it....Dante is just too kind and that’s why he feels sorry for you, but I see you for what you are. A user and a manipulator."
Her eyes flashed with real anger. "You have no idea what you’re talking about, you little—"
"I am his wife!" I yelled pointing a finger at her. "This is my house! You are a guest here because of his generosity and you will show some respect or you can get out!"
I was so angry I was shaking. I had put her in her place, letting all the emotions leash out.
My eyes moved to the corner.
I turned.
Dante was standing at the garden entrance with his eyes widen in surprise. He had heard everything. How long had he been there?
Before I could say anything, Melissa let out a loud dramatic sob.
She ran to Dante and threw her arms around him, burying her face in his chest crying fake loud tears.
"Oh, Dante, I told you it wasn’t right to bring me here, your wife doesn’t like me, she has said so many awful things! She hates me! She wants to throw me and my Leo out on the street"
I stood there frozen in shock. I couldn’t believe what she was doing.
How dare she turn the tables on me?
Dante looked from Melissa’s crying face to my angry one. His expression was hardening.
Disappointed.
He gently pushed Melissa away and walked towards me.
"Ariana," he said his voice low and cold. "I am so disappointed in you."
The words felt like a physical blow. "What? Dante, you don’t understand—"
"I heard what you said to her!" he interrupted, his voice rising. "I heard you insulting her, it’s come on I thought you’re better than this, she is a victim here Ariana! This is how you treat her?"
"But she started it!" I cried my own tears starting to fall. "She came over here and said I stole her place in your life and she said she was going to take everything from me!"
Melissa sniffled loudly from behind Dante. "I said no such thing I swear... I just asked her if we could be friends and she just started yelling at me... she hates me because you’re helping me and she doesn’t trust you with me"
"That is a lie!" I screamed pointing at her. "She is lying Dante! You know I’d never say that, come on... you believe right?"
"Because I heard you Ariana!" Dante shouted back. "I heard the horrible things you said with my own ears. I thought you were kinder than this. I thought you had more compassion. Melissa has done nothing to you and if you trust me enough, you’d know that I’ll never cheat on you... I already told you she’s just a college friend and that’s all that is!"
He was looking at me like I was a stranger taking her side completely.
My heart shattered into a million pieces. How could he? He was standing there defending another woman against me. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
In my own home.
He was trusting Melissa over me.
I looked at Melissa. She was still hiding behind Dante, but I saw the look in her eyes, a look of pure triumph.
She had won this round.
I looked back at Dante at the anger and disappointment on his face, knowing I had nothing left to say.
I turned around and ran back into the house, the sound of my own sobs echoing in my ears.
