Chapter 360: Inside the temple

"This is the area on the map. The temple has to be somewhere around here." Sekmala looked at her map, then at the surroundings. Everything matched the information given to her from the scouts, and she knew the temple was somewhere in the sand.

"Do you know where we should start digging?" Nadya asked, looking around to see if she could spot any indication that the temple was here, such as a pillar sticking out of the ground.

"No, I don’t. However..." Sekmala placed a hand on the ground, and a square of mana was erected around the area. "It should be in this area that I marked with my chi."

"Okay. Sasha, would you do the honors? You’re the best with earth magic."

She shrugged. "Sure." Taking out her hammer, she slammed it onto the sand, and a huge explosion separated the sand, revealing what was underneath.

Sasha then created walls of earth that prevented the sand from seeping into the large hole she had just created, and before everyone’s eyes was the temple they were looking for.

Osiren stared at the temple in awe. "Amazing!"

"This is where the first hero gained his power." Horisia was amazed by the temple, even in its deteriorated state.

"I can’t believe that I’ll be entering a temple dedicated to our goddess that no one has entered in thousands of years." Sekmala jumped down, followed by Osiren and Horisia.

Sasha and Nadya followed closely behind as well.

It was only the five of them who decided to come out here, and the rest of Kai’s girls were learning more about the resistance and what was going on in the continent from Setton and Isia.

"Everyone, be careful. This place could crumble at any moment because of how old it is. We don’t want the temple to collapse on us." Nadya made sure to make a barrier around everyone to make sure they would be safe if the place gave out.

An eerie silence surrounded the group when they entered the temple. Darkness followed as light didn’t enter with them. Horisia created a ball of light that followed everyone, allowing them to see what was in front of them.

"Watch your step, everyone, there could be traps." Horisia cut a wire on the floor that would have fired arrows at them.

"Even after thousands of years, this place still has traps. Amazing." Osiren ended up falling for these ancient traps, stepping on a pressure plate that made a spiked iron ball on a string swing at his head.

Fortunately for him, Sasha was behind him, and she caught the iron ball with her hand, then crushed it with ease.

"T-Thank you." He saw his life flash before his eyes and clutched his chest, breathing heavily.

"Yeah."

For the next twenty minutes, the five of them continued to talk through the temple, avoiding and sometimes activating traps by accident until they found the room they were looking for.

Inside was a pillar that had a clear orb that radiated divine energy, the energy of the goddess Rauna.

Horisia and Osiren were amazed by the sight, looking upon what would be classified as an ancient wonder.

"S-Should we go inside?" The prince asked

"Yes. But we should be careful. We don’t know what traps await us." Sekmala placed her hands on the prince and hero.

"You two should go in first. You are the blood of the first hero and king, and you are the current hero. You both are blessed by our goddess."

The two of them nodded, stepping inside. Nothing happened when they stepped inside, and no traps were activated when they reached the pillar.

"Take the orb, Prince Osiren." The hero urged.

He nodded, then removed the orb from the pillar. However, that’s when the temple started shaking. The ground opened, dropping the prince and hero into darkness. Outside of the room, Sasha made a quick judgment to leap inside the room before the rest of the temple could crumble around them.

The prince didn’t understand what was going on. "What happened?!"

"I don’t know," Horisia yelled. "A trial, maybe?"

"Prince Osiren! Hero Horisia!" Sekmala reached out, trying to grab the hands of her people.

Sasha tried to create a platform of earth, but something interfered with her power. "Nadya, what’s the state of the temple?"

"The entire place is coming down, and I can’t use my magic for some reason!" Nadya kept trying to use her magic, but nothing was working.

Even Horisia was having trouble using her power; even her divine energy was failing.

"No! No, no, no, no, no! I can’t die! Not here! I still haven’t avenged my family!" Osiren clutched the orb with his life as he fell to what he assumed would be his death. If this was some kind of test, he knew he was failing it, and he felt ashamed.

"What are you guys doing?" Kai was falling upside down next to all of them, wondering why they were even falling in the first place.

"Kai?!" Sekmala asked

"Yup. That’s my name." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"How did you get down here? How did you even know where we were?"

"I can teleport anywhere my girls are. They have parts of my energy inside them."

Sasha laughed, imagining Kai cumming inside them.

"Can you help us? Our chi isn’t working." Osiren asked, still terrified of dying.

"That makes sense. You’re in Rauna’s divine realm right now. So all of you are powerless except me. I’m a demigod."

"Kai, priorities. We’re all going to die!" Nadya reminded him.

Kai looked confused. "What are you talking about? You’re not even falling. This is an illusion. That’s why I was asking what you all were doing. You’re just sitting on the ground yelling for no reason."

"What?!"

All of them tried their best to focus, and when they finally regained control over their fearful mind, they noticed that they were indeed just on the ground yelling for no reason.

"H-How? How was that possible?!" Sekmala stepped on the ground to make sure she still wasn’t in an illusion.

"Divine energy," Kai explained

"But what about me? I have divine energy."

"Eh. Sure, but just a very small amount. Not enough to bypass this divine illusion."

"I see."

Nadya and Sasha then wondered why they were affected since Kai put protection over them, but he explained that his previous power wasn’t able to protect them from divine illusions, so he fixed that right away.

"Ready to move on?" He asked, feeling excited to explore the temple.
