Chapter 394: We’re under attack!

Fire erupted from the mountain like a volcano where the resistance headquarters was located. Rocks were sent flying in all directions, and smoke clouded the sky. The sight could be seen from miles away, and it was a terrible sight.

The smell of burning flesh lingered in the air, screams and cries filled what was left of the resistance base, and people were flung out of the mountain during the explosion.

Inside the base, Kai had created a barrier just in time to protect many people. He was sort of picky with who he protected, so a lot of people still died.

He protected his girls, of course, even if they didn’t need it, Sekmala, Isia, and a bunch of beautiful women in the resistance base. He also protected all of the important documents and other things that the resistance needed.

Still, around 60% of the people in the base died.

"W-What happened?"

"Help!"

"My leg!"

"My husband! Have you seen my husband!"

"Carlson! Nooooo!"

"Quickly! Everyone out of the mountain!" Sekmala ordered. "Help anyone you can! Check for survivors!"

"Kai!" She called out to him.

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"

"No, I’m fine. I also managed to protect some people, including yourself, but I wasn’t able to help everyone."

Sekmala bit her lips out of anger. "It’s not your fault. You did what you could. Can you help me get these people out of here?"

"Sure can." Kai lifted up every piece of debris and fallen rock into the air and blew the smoke and dust out of the way.

Many people were crushed, injured, or trapped by the rocks, and when Kai removed them all, he revealed the horrible sight.

"Whoever did this will pay!" Sekmala’s energy skyrocketed, her anger nearly making her go mad.

Kai’s girls leaped into action and started helping people out of the destroyed mountain with the aid of resistance members who were able to move.

Within two hours, the entire base was evacuated, and all of the bodies that were able to be moved out of the place were taken so they could be buried later.

"This is so horrible. Who could do such a thing?" Isia dropped to her knees and started crying. This moment reminded her of the day she lost her family, bringing back horrible memories.

"There’s most likely a traitor in the resistance." Kai theorized. "It would make sense. That or Flaxem’s army found us."

Sekmala shook her head. What Kai said made sense, and she also believed that there was a traitor in their ranks, but the army would have been spotted long before this current event.

"I think that this is also the work of traitors. We need to contact Setton right away. If we were compromised here, then we would most likely be compromised at Sunspot as well."

"S-Sir Kai, you can get there fast, right?" Isia asked through her tears. "Please go help my brother. I can’t lose my last family member."

"Sure thing. Wanna come, girls?"

"We’ll meet you there."

"Cool." Kai took off into the sky.

Over at the border that separated the eastern part of the continent from the western side, moments before the resistance base explosion, Setton, Horisia, Osiren, and the rest of the resistance were setting up weapons, artillery, and more to prepare for their attack.

Everyone was working diligently and excitedly because the day when they could reclaim their home was upon them.

With their hero back at full strength, their prince stronger than ever, a relic in their possession, and the aid of a demigod, they were all hopeful for the future.

"Ahh, I can’t wait for this attack! My body is so ready!"

"I know, right? I can’t wait to get my hands dirty. Those bastards oppressed us for too long!"

"Hell yeah, man. The two of us are going to go crazy when it’s time to attack. And Lady Horisia is going to lead us as well. This couldn’t get any better!"

"For real. Oh, by the way, let me tell you something."

"What’s up?" The man was stabbed in the stomach. "W-What?"

"You’re fucking annoying."

"Argh! C-Carlnote! What are you doing? Agh! Why did you stab me? We’re friends!"

"Friends? Oh, no, we’re not friends. I fucking hate you with a passion." Carlnote stabbed the man in the leg.

"Arghhhh!"

"You talk so much and you’re fucking stupid. By the way, I fucked your wife."

"W-What? Why?!"

"Because I wanted to. Your daughter is actually MY daughter! You dumb bitch!"

"Y-You bastard! I trusted you! You were my friend! Now I’m going to kill you!"

Before the man could act, Carlnote threw a knife into his head. "Just shut up and die."

All around the border, more and more people started attacking each other, killing them without any remorse.

"W-What’s going on?" Osiren jumped to his feet and knocked away a person who tried to kill him from behind.

"I don’t know? A-Are all of these people traitors?" Horisia was in shock. Out of all the resistance members there, 30% of them were traitors and killed a good portion of the real, true, dedicated members.

"Prince Osiren! Quickly! Come over here!" Setton shouted.

Horisia and Osiren rushed over to Setton’s location and joined in with a group of people who were holding back some attackers.

"Stay back!" The hero slammed her foot on the sand, sending a wave of energy that blasted everyone back.

Osiren took a fighting position, Horisia activated her power, and Setton pulled out the chalice.

"We need to gain strength!" He shouted.

The others agreed with him, and he called upon Rauna for power. The chalice was filled with wine, and he drank the entire cup. As he was handing the cup to the prince, Setton dropped it into his other hand and stabbed Osiren in the chest with a hidden blade that was up his sleeve.

"Nngh! W-What?" Osiren looked at the man he once trusted. "S-Setton?" He collapsed to the ground.

"You traitor!" Horisia lunged at Setton, nearly cutting his chest, but missed by a hair’s breadth.

"Hahaha, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I’ve been waiting for this day! Haha! The day for the royal family to fall!"
