The Hero of Hypnosis-Chapter 395: Betrayal from within
"Setton! What is the meaning of this? How dare you betray the royal family! How dare you betray the resistance!" Horisia’s energy was surging with a new purpose, one to dispose of the person she trusted with her life.
"Oh, Horisia, how naive you are. You are nothing but a slave to the current system of this continent. You need to open your eyes to the possibilities that the future holds."
"And what is that possibility? Control and death? I refuse to be a part of the future you and that bastard Flexom envision for this kingdom. You all have led it to ruin and divided the people!"
"Divided?" Setton laughed so loud that his voice could be heard from afar. "Don’t be an idiot. The previous monarchy had us on a leash. They refused to innovate, refused to progress forward with whichcraft, and refused to unearth the mysteries of the ancient kingdom."
"They were respecting our ancestors!"
"THEY WERE LETTING THEIR LEGACIES ROT!" Setton calmed himself, not wanting to look like a madman. He was already a traitor; no need to look any worse than he did. Not that he cared what others thought of him. He simply likes to be professional.
"Only now, when the kingdom is in a crisis, can we unearth our ancestors’ legacies. Only now, when we are divided, can we progress with our whichcraft and expand our kingdom to encompass the whole desert. And now, after the foreigner arrived in our lands, we can expand to other continents!"
Horisia was disgusted with the man Setton turned out to be. She used to regard him highly, valued his opinion, and would lay down her life to help him if needed. But now, he was nothing but a stain meant to be washed away.
"I will kill you." She said with a deep hatred.
"You can try."
Setton flew toward Horisia, and she ran toward him, her sword wound back for a powerful strike.
His tattoos glowed with a red hue, blood and chi forming in his palm, and Horisia’s blade shone a golden light.
"Die, false hero!"
"Fall, you traitorous bastard!"
Both of their attacks crashed into each other with enough force to level a city. A spiraling mass of blood covered the sword Horisia used, but her power kept Setton’s own at bay, pushing it back with the light of Rauna.
The hero cut through the blood whichcraft and slammed her foot into Setton’s chest, knocking him into multiple balistas. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Give up. You can’t beat me!"
"Attack her!" Setton ordered his followers.
All of them charged at Horisia like an army, their weapons drawn and their tattoos flowing with chi.
"Disgusting bastards!"
The first guy didn’t even know when Horisia cut off his head. All he saw was the world turning upside down before going dark.
As quickly as she killed the first man who charged at her, Horisia had already killed the second person, cutting them in half, then the third, stabbing them in the heart.
She moved like a blur, a blood trail following her every move as she cut down the traitors. Even as multiple people ganged up on her, she still mowed them down as if she were stepping on a bunch of bugs.
"Get the fuck out of my way!" She grabbed one man by the neck, slammed him into the ground, then stabbed him in the chest. Without looking, she threw her sword behind her, the blade spinning across the battlefield, cutting down enemies.
While her sword was putting in the work, she fought with her hands, punching the guts out of people, snapping their necks, and shattering their chests with powerful kicks.
She was a one-man army.
"SETTON!" Horisia’s feet dug into the ground as she charged toward Setton like an angry bull. "I’m going to fucking kill you!" Jumping into the air, she held out her hand, her sword flying back into her palm, then slashed it down onto the traitor.
"Nngh! You’ll have to do better than that!" In the nick of time, Setton managed to protect himself with a chi shield and used this chance to blast the hero in the chest with a powerful chi blast, knocking her away.
"Man, look at them go. Fighting like their lives are on the line. You seeing this?"
"Nnnghh! Gahh!"
"Oh, right." Kai healed Osiren from death.
He gasped hard, finally able to breathe properly without a throbbing pain in his chest, and the constant blood that was leaving his body stopped.
"K-Kai! It’s Setton. He’s a traitor!"
"Yup. Kind of figured."
"W-What do you mean?"
"I mean, come on, the guy’s name is Setton. He literally has Set in his name. You know, the Egyptian god of chaos."
"The Egypian what?"
Kai shook his head. "Don’t worry about it."
The fight between Setton and Horisia raged on, the hero having the advantage in power. Normally, she would be vastly stronger than he would be, but since he drank out of the chalice, his power was near hers.
Still, Horisia was stronger than him and was putting him through the wringer.
This didn’t mean Setton wasn’t doing any damage to her, though. He managed to get in a few good licks, drawing blood, and even had her on the ropes at one point. But at the end of the day, this fight was going to be determined by two things: the stronger person and how long Setton’s buff would last.
And unfortunately for Setton, his buff wore off...
"About now," Kai muttered under his breath.
Setton’s eyes widened in horror. "W-What?"
"Time to die!" Horisia stabbed him in the chest.
"Yes! She got him! He’s dead! Kai, she did it...Why aren’t you celebrating?"
"Because," Kai said seriously. "The fight is just beginning."
"What do you—"
Dark energy flowed out of Setton’s body. It looked like black blood, but it was something worse.
"Demonic energy!" Horisia was so angry that she nearly broke her teeth with how hard she was gritting them.
"Hahaha! Do you like my new power? How does it feel knowing that you’re not the only one who was blessed by a god?!" Setton asked, his voice a roar with how loud it was.
"Blessed? I think the word you’re looking for is cursed. As a hero, it is my duty to purge all demons, and you, Setton, have truly dug your grave."
