The Hero of Hypnosis-Chapter 429: Approached by the Third Prince
The person following Kai couldn’t believe that he was so powerful. Not only was he not affected by the cold weather without using any mana, but he was also able to kill a King Yeti with one blow.
The reason why the Thid Prince sent them to follow Kai was that they were the best when it came to Stealth and Speed. But they had a hard time keeping up with Kai.
’I need to tell his highness about what I learned. This Kai fellow will be a great addition to our cause! No way we would lose with him on our side!’ The person kept to the shadows and continued to follow Kai until he returned to the city.
Before returning, Kai absorbed all of the PD energy, growing stronger in the process. He had to do the same on the Astalith, and the feeling of reaching true godhood was close.
"This feels weird." He admitted.
"What does?" Karimu was back to her small fox form and was around Kai’s neck.
"You know I’m a demigod, right?"
"What? You are? Since when?"
"W-Wait, you didn’t know? For real?" Kai could have sworn that he had told her he was a demigod.
"Hehe, I’m just messing with you."
"O-Oh, you rat. Anyway, the more PD I absorb, the stronger I become, but I can also feel my divinity increasing. I’m close to becoming a god, Karumi. And that sensation feels weird."
"But isn’t becoming a god a good thing? I don’t know how you feel because I’m a Divine Spirit, the most powerful type of spirit of my kind, so I’m used to feeling, I guess you can say...superior."
"Hmm. True. You wouldn’t get how I’m feeling. But basically, it feels weird knowing that I was once a powerless boy who didn’t even know magic existed, and now I’m almost a god, fucking crazy."
When they were speaking, Kai made sure only the two of them could hear each other.
"You’ll get used to it, don’t worry." She licked his cheek.
"I know. And don’t lick me, that’s gross."
"What? But that was a kiss."
"That was a lick."
"Animals kiss with their tongue!"
"Yeah, so do people, but we put it in each other’s mouths instead, not on their cheeks!"
---
"No fucking way!"
"The kid did it!"
"There’s not even a scratch on him!"
"H-How is that possible?!"
"I know he’s an S-Rank, but taking down a King Yeti should have been extremely difficult to do alone, and at least take a few days, not a few hours."
Kai had returned to the guild to show that he had killed the King Yeti and claim his pay. Since the Yeti was too big to take out in the building, he had to take it to the back, where others would chop the beast into pieces.
"H-Here you go." The receptionist handed Kai twenty gold pieces. A fair price for a beast that formidable.
"Thanks, bye now. Have a good day, everyone." Kai left the guild.
"Where are we going now?" Karumi asked
"To ask what our stalker wants." Kai disappeared.
’W-What the hell? Where did he go? How did he move so fast? Did he teleport? But I didn’t feel any mana come from him if he did!’
Kai was standing behind the person who was following him; from their build, he could tell that this person was a woman.
"Dammit, the Prince is gonna be upset that I lost him!" She leaped from rooftop to rooftop, trying to find Kai, but she had no luck. After a good while, she called it a day and made her way to a rundown shack after weaving her way through many alleyways.
Once she walked inside, she took a seat and sighed.
"What did he say?" A young man asked.
"I lost him." She admitted.
"Huh? Explain."
"Your highness, this person, Kai, is more than we thought he was. First of all, he’s extremely powerful and super fast. I had a hard time keeping up with him. Second, his spirit beast can turn into a person. According to my research, spirits have a human form in the spirit world, but can only be their beast form in the material world. But Fairy-type spirits are humanoid at all times, and Divine Spirits can transform at will without restrictions."
’Wow, she knows her stuff!’ Karumi was impressed
"So you’re saying that this Kai fellow has made a contract with a divine spirit? The most powerful type of spirit?" The prince asked.
"Yes. He and his spirit killed a King Yeti in one blow."
"Amazing." The prince was liking Kai more and more.
"When he went back to the Adventurer’s guild, I was going to approach him, but then he suddenly vanished. There was no trace of him left at all. I searched the whole city, but I couldn’t find him."
"Do you think he was aware of you?"
"No. I’ve been following him for the entire day, and he hasn’t noticed me once."
"Yes, I did."
"AHHH!" The woman leaped out of her seat.
"Who are you?!" The prince asked, drawing his sword
"Uhh, the person you were following. Honestly, stalking someone is pretty weird. Do you not know how to walk up to them and say introduce yourself? Like, jeez." Kai tried to take a seat, but there weren’t any left, so he made one to sit down.
"So you’re Kai, huh? I heard that you embarrassed my brother in my name. Do you know the consequences of using the name of a prince?"
"Uhh, probably having that prince sit on the throne, right?" Kai smirked
The prince smiled. "I like him already."
"You knew I was following you?" The woman asked
"Yeah. I just left you to do whatever you wanted because you weren’t a threat. Heh, even if you were, it wouldn’t matter. And that’s not a jab at your abilities. You’re skilled, very skilled, I’m just that much more powerful than you."
"That doesn’t make me feel any better." She sobbed
"Tell me, Kai. What is your reason for supporting me? I know it can’t be because you serve the Nord family. Even servants don’t always agree with their masters. Could there be something that you want?"
Kai liked how the prince thought. He was calm, calculating, and knew that there was no such thing as a free meal in the world.
But today, he would learn that sometimes, free meals do exist.
"’Cause I wanna."
"Huh?" Now the prince was confused.
"The Nord family just so happened to be on your side, and because of that, I decided to support you. I honestly don’t give a fuck who sits on the throne. Hell, you could be a slob who would bring the kingdom to ruin, and I still would support you because it’s all a part of my fun time."
"Y-Your fun time?" The prince wondered what Kai was talking about.
Kai nodded. "Yeah. I’m here on vacation. I met with Frostina, and she said that she didn’t care what I did, as long as I didn’t destroy the place. So, I promised her that I would be on my best behavior."
"F-Frostina? Do you mean Goddess Frostina?" The woman asked
"Yeah. Is there any other person with that name? I honestly don’t know."
"You met with the goddess?! Who the hell are you?!"
Kai smirked. "I’m Kai LuForia, substitute soul—I mean, I’m a demigod."
