Chapter 26: Chapter 26: I Can Feel Pain Now

Sigh... It’s rare to meet a group of friendly little buddies. Ignoring Miss Scream, Chen Qinghan and the others are quite nice to me.

After all the twists and turns, I’m left here like a solitary zongzi.

Though it’s true that all good things must come to an end, this gathering ended way too soon, just as we were given chopsticks, the dishes were taken away.

Thinking of spending a thousand years alone lying here in this tomb fills my heart with melancholy.

But I’m a zongzi who easily makes peace with things. One zongzi it is. Valuable items are generally hidden underground, like gold mines, jade veins, crystals...

Knock Knock Knock—

I was deep in thought when I suddenly heard a sound of someone knocking on stone outside, so I quickly pricked up my ears to listen closely.

Knock Knock—

It was indeed someone intentionally knocking on stone, not the natural sound of a stone falling.

"Who’s there?" I thought someone might be trapped, so I asked.

"It’s me," came the voice of Chen Qinghan from outside.

He told me to cover my head to protect it, and I followed his instructions. Then, I felt a stone next to me move a little.

He must be clearing the stones around, and the Water Monster is with him. The Water Monster told me the exit is completely blocked, but after Chen Qinghan pushed Wen Jing and the others out, he turned back and ran towards me.

The Water Monster wanted to clear the debris at the exit, but seeing Chen Qinghan return, it followed to see what he was up to.

Miss Scream told them I was dead, but Chen Qinghan, seemingly unwilling, risked being trapped to come back and check.

He and the Water Monster were digging the stones beside me. With its many tentacles, the Water Monster was faster than Chen Qinghan by several times.

"My leg is pinned by a stone," I wanted to tell him that it wouldn’t be easy to rescue me.

"Does your leg have any feeling?" Chen Qinghan asked.

"Uh... No." The question was awkward to answer, "Wait, hiss! It hurts so much..."

I was shocked by this feeling. For thousands of years, whether cut by a knife or shot by a gun, I never felt pain. How come, just after he asked, my leg started to hurt?

"Good, it’s got feeling," Chen Qinghan’s tense tone relaxed a little.

How should I explain this to him? It’s just now that things are abnormal!

The Water Monster’s adorable little face squeezed through the crack in the stone and squeezed its way in. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Once inside, it headed straight for the stone pinning my leg, using its ’jack’ skill, while Chen Qinghan cleared a half-meter-wide exit next to me.

"Give me your hand. As soon as the stone is lifted, I’ll pull you out."

"Okay."

The Water Monster lifted the stone, Chen Qinghan pulled me out, and all I needed to do was hold his hand tightly.

The moment I was pulled out by Chen Qinghan, I was suddenly overcome with emotion. I was calm while lying inside, but once rescued, I was far from calm.

Chen Qinghan immediately checked my leg, frowning as he examined it.

"Heh heh heh..." I couldn’t help but laugh out loud, then felt a bit embarrassed, but it was understandable. I finally understood what it means to feel ticklish.

Chen Qinghan pinched and pressed my leg gently, which was nothing short of the legendary ’tickling.’

"No problem, your leg isn’t injured," Chen Qinghan said with a complex expression.

"Oh, I’m a bit different from others," I explained tactfully.

A stone that big hitting a leg would certainly crush the bones of an ordinary person into bits.

Not explaining would be unreasonable. My leg is probably akin to an ordinary person being hit by a toppled table.

It hurt, but there were no internal or external injuries, which surprised me. In the past, I wouldn’t have felt a thing.

"You’ve never had pain before?" Chen Qinghan suddenly asked.

"Uh... Yeah." I wasn’t sure if it was right to tell the truth, but he probably already knew I was a zongzi, so spilling a bit more didn’t matter.

"It seems like the count is enough," Chen Qinghan mumbled softly.

"What did you say?" I was worried I heard it wrong and wanted to confirm.

"No worries, let’s go see if we can clear the exit,"

The Water Monster jumped onto my shoulder, and I patted its head. Thankfully it helped; otherwise, Chen Qinghan couldn’t have moved such a heavy stone alone.

The sea of sand was covered with stones of various sizes, making walking difficult.

We reached the exit that Chen Qinghan mentioned. It was a stone door at the edge of the sea of sand, about six meters high and three meters wide. I could only see the door frame’s outline because the door was buried under stones.

This was the ’way out’ I had dreamed of. I stretched my wrists, feeling full of energy, eager to start clearing the stones at the door.

Chen Qinghan joined in to move stones. We removed the medium and small ones first, leaving a few large stones, with the Water Monster helping us to push them aside.

Those stones were too large; even the Water Monster couldn’t move them, only push them aside.

We cleared a gap where a person could squeeze through sideways. Chen Qinghan said there was a hole in the door caused by violent destruction, which was how Wen Jing and the others escaped.

So we didn’t need to clear too many stones, just needed to reveal that hole.

Still, it took a full two hours to finish. Without the Water Monster, we’d really be trapped here.

During this, a rumbling sound faintly came from the other side of the sand sea. Chen Qinghan suggested it might be the ancient tomb disintegrating.

All things are maintained by energy. When energy changes, so does form.

Thankfully, I’m not a scientist. I have no interest in researching these things. Since we’re leaving, let the tomb collapse.

However, my backpack is with Wen Jing, containing all my belongings. Once I leave, I’ll have to flee, hoping Wen Jing doesn’t walk off with my treasures.

The Water Monster’s tentacles pushed away the last stone blocking the gap. This time, I didn’t hold back; I took out a small trumpet, intending to blow it in celebration, only to find it broken.

It was made of plastic, so damage from being tossed around was normal. I just felt it was a bit of a shame. But, I can celebrate once we’re out.

Chen Qinghan helped me through the gap first, with him following behind. Outside the door was still a cave. I looked around but didn’t see Wen Jing and the others.

After Chen Qinghan came out, he used stones to block the gap again. He also noticed that Wen Jing and the others were missing.

My heart sank, thinking about my bag...

After a moment, I realized that something was wrong. Wen Jing and Shunfeng are Chen Qinghan’s staunch fans, and even if Chen Qinghan was crushed to death inside, they’d find a way to dig his body out.

Leaving without trying doesn’t make sense.

Chen Qinghan, skilled in observation, surveyed the surroundings, walked to a stone, and from a crack, fished out a woman’s watch with his forefinger.

Because the strap was so thin and the dial so small, it was hard to find in the crack.

"This is Miss Cheng’s watch, Wen Jing and the others are in trouble."
