Chapter 99: Chapter 99: All Secrets Are Discussed in the Bathroom

Bi Shi seemed to ignore my suggestive glances, allowing the black-clad figures to lead the way, guiding us out of there.

The black-clad figures somehow used a tool to widen the tunnel in such a short time.

The underground river’s water had no visible source and extended beyond sight. The black-clad figures led us along the paths beneath the passage of mechanisms.

We moved intermittently, as if waiting for some mechanism to start or stop.

I nudged Bi Shi, who walked beside me, giving her meaningful looks, suggesting she should notice how familiar they were with her territory.

Bi Shi ignored my hints, so I glanced at Chen Qinghan on the other side. Encountering kidnappers, he should have escaped first and then sought help to rescue me, yet he rushed towards being kidnapped together.

Could we possibly rely on Jerry to seek help from above?

Leaving the dark underground tunnel, we emerged at a spot beneath a small waterfall, with the entrance perfectly hidden by the waterfall.

Bi Shi hadn’t seen sunlight for years. After coming out, she closed her eyes, looked up, and basked in the sunlight, suddenly bursting into wild laughter.

The sight was devoid of any beauty, making me want to record her in video. Mental illness is truly terrifying.

"I... I need to go back to find my team," Jerry said weakly.

"Hmm." The black-clad figures didn’t object. Their eyes showed no emotional change, as if they were dummies.

Jerry glanced at me, "Well... I’m leaving then."

"Hmm." I returned a similarly emotionless gaze.

Jerry left reluctantly while frequently looking back. Next to the waterfall, on the riverbank, were tents belonging to the black-clad figures, with various-sized boxes outside, contents unknown.

The black-clad figures clearly knew more about the ancient tomb’s structure than we did. Who would have thought they could access the tomb’s ’maintenance passage’!

From leaving the underground city to getting into the car, we were constantly monitored by the black-clad figures, without a chance to speak privately.

The black-clad figures had three cars parked by the roadside outside the forest. Not a single car had passed by all day. They separated us, and I guessed one car was driven by the five sisters. Now that they were gone, a black-clad figure had to be dispatched to drive that car, perfectly splitting us apart.

In the cars with Chen Qinghan and me, there was only one black-clad figure driving, and our hands were tied, sitting in the backseat with the doors locked by the driver.

Only Bi Shi was guarded by two black-clad figures. Fortunately, they didn’t know my prowess and treated Bi Shi as the ’dangerous person’ needing close supervision.

I sat in the backseat, trying to calm down and think. Bi Shi, to me, didn’t have any special abilities, other than her body’s reconstruction phenomenon. Why would the Watermelon Cutter organization capture her?

That organization seemed to always locate the ancient tomb accurately and was very familiar with the internal structure. Where did they obtain this information?

If they are very familiar with the Heavenly Maiden Clan’s matters, what about me? How much do they know?

The car did not follow any route back to the nation. The road signs were in characters unfamiliar to me.

After driving for over four hours, I still didn’t know where I was, surrounded by nothing but greenery.

As darkness began to fall, it was time to eat despite the journey ahead. At dinner, the three of us were seated together again.

After several hours without speaking and not being able to use a phone, I was bored to death, so we took the chance to chat during the meal.

I couldn’t tell where they planned to take us, but Chen Qinghan should know. I asked if he knew our approximate location now.

He said we were still within Jade Country’s borders, but heading towards the coast. From the primeval forest to the coastline, we’d be crossing the entire Jade Country.

The black-clad figures evidently did not trust modern public transport and preferred to drive, enduring the hardship rather than letting us take a plane.

After dinner, we went to lodge. The black-clad figures booked three rooms, intending to separate us. I immediately objected; no matter how expressionless they were, they were still young girls. It would be improper to leave Chen Qinghan alone with them.

I had to follow them, having a backlog of words to say all day. I needed to find an opportunity to chat with Chen Qinghan.

The black-clad figures did not refuse, as they were still two against our two, evenly matched, and they had weapons while we did not.

They had not confiscated Chen Qinghan’s knife, presumably confident in their firearms.

The two black-clad figures watching us were like machines, sitting on the sofa, eyes fixed on us as we entered the room.

"It’s so hot, I need a shower!" Being stared at like that, how could I find a chance to speak with Chen Qinghan? Pretending to be hot, I tugged at my collar, fanning myself, and gave Chen Qinghan a look.

This time, Chen Qinghan didn’t understand my signal and just said, "You go ahead and shower."

"I can’t wash myself, with no one to scrub my back. Come on in, let’s shower together." I dragged Chen Qinghan, pushed him into the bathroom, and casually turned on the shower and the faucet.

The dual sound of running water covered my voice as I whispered to Chen Qinghan, "Wang Baishi really is chicken shit!"

Chen Qinghan didn’t even raise an eyebrow, seeming not at all surprised.

"?" I wondered why he wasn’t surprised, but he started undressing.

"Got it." He leisurely took a free bath amenity from the hotel to look at.

"What now? Are we really going back with them to meet some ghost of a leader?" I had no interest in these things and didn’t want to waste time.

"We’ve been passive the whole time; perhaps it’s worth meeting them." Chen Qinghan stripped down to his last piece of clothing.

"You really are taking a shower! I pulled you in to talk in private." The bathroom wasn’t soundproof, so I had to get close to his ear, but he suddenly stood under the shower, splashing water all over my face.

"Not showering, your excuse wouldn’t hold up, would it?"

"Then you shower, I’ll talk." I was really curious how he figured out that Bi Shi was Wang Baishi. His answer was that her clothes were too outdated, and the fabric was very old, like it had been stored for too long.

Also, they were men’s clothes, with a bullet hole at the knee, and so on...

"You’ve observed too carefully, but what if her original clothes no longer fit, and she just grabbed clothes from some corpse?"

"But her attitude towards you isn’t like that of a stranger. Though her gaze was full of disdain, that’s the kind of disdain for someone familiar."

In the underground city, I naturally couldn’t have known anyone. Wang Baishi escaped there; Bi Shi emerged, wearing ill-fitting old clothes, acting quite familiar with me, thus leading Chen Qinghan to his guess.

"The most crucial point is... they trusted!"

They, being the black-clad figures, specifically came for Bi Shi, and believed her to be the Priest they were seeking based on just a few words from us, which was rather theatrical.

"They believed too easily; they must have their reasons."

"What you said makes sense too. Could it be... they know what she looks like?"

"Perhaps, the ones seeking her are your old acquaintances."
