The Journey of Immortal Cultivation-Chapter 501 - 291: Extremely Yin Land
Tu Jin couldn’t be bothered to say much, so he created a soul avatar and entered his mind. The human mind contains an immense amount of information; his initial question was merely to imprint an impression in Mr. Wu’s mind, making it easier for him to search later.
Searching memories in a living person’s mind is a kind of torture. Mr. Wu’s eyes rolled back, and he uttered feeble hoarse groans, appearing pitiful. Yet, Ning Xiaoxian felt no compassion. Only after a while did she shockingly realize: When had her heart become so cold and hard? Had it been a few months ago, she would have felt sad seeing someone suffer like this. This cursed cultivation was gradually eroding her humanity.
Before she could finish pondering, Tu Jin withdrew his soul avatar. He stood in place for a while, seemingly digesting the information just received from the mind, and then his expression turned very strange.
"Speak quickly," Changtian urged.
"The Wu Family has another manor outside the city, built on Extremely Yin Land with a history of several hundred years. From his memory, I learned that this manor serves as a cover, meant to hide a cave behind the manor’s mountain. When he was young and mischievous, one summer he accidentally opened the entrance of the cave. Unexpectedly, the temperature inside was extremely low; he was nearly frozen just by standing at the entrance. The old Wu head had to request an expert to save his life. Regardless of how many clothes one wears, the coldness of the cave is unbearable. Moreover, by his generation, no one can clarify why the Wu Family wants to monopolize this cave," Tu Jin revealed.
"That guy with the surname Wu originally felt that the manor was creepy and didn’t like going there. However, in recent years, with the summers being too hot, the Wu Family often moved there to cool off. Of course, they didn’t directly stay in the manor but built another manor a half-mile away from Cold Pond. The cold air from the back mountain is much weakened there, and the temperature of the entire manor feels like late autumn, very cool. Hmm, also, a strange giant figure appears near Wu Family Manor from time to time, probably some sort of demon, but the Wu family members have never been harmed by it."
Ning Xiaoxian interjected, "Such a strange cave and no cultivator has discovered it until now?"
"Apparently not. This manor has been the property of the Wu Family for hundreds of years," Tu Jin said with a still very unpleasant expression. She curiously asked, "What’s wrong?"
Tu Jin gritted his teeth and said, "The memories in this kid’s mind are very twisted; I searched for a long time and all I found were scenes of him frolicking about with men, really...it’s truly..."
Going through other people’s memories often had this downside, making one "empathize" too much. Tu Jin’s expression was as if he had swallowed a bunch of flies. Ning Xiaoxian barely held back her laughter and knocked Mr. Wu unconscious and threw him into God Demon Prison. This person couldn’t die yet, in case they needed him when entering the manor.
=====
Under Tu Jin’s guidance, Qi Zai quickly flew everyone to their destination. This Wu Family Manor was located in the northwest direction of the city, nestled within deep mountain forests. It was the latter half of the night by the time they arrived. Qi Zai flew mid-air, beneath which the dense forest was pitch-black, and the strong wind sweeping through the treetops and caves whistled mournfully like the cries of demon gods at night, scaring the faint-hearted to the point of wetting themselves.
Who in the world could live here long-term? She frowned.
Suddenly, Changtian from the God Demon Prison said, "This place is actually Extremely Yin Land. What Tu Jin is after is likely right here."
Extremely Yin Land? Before she could ask, Changtian continued to explain, "This is where two mountain ranges meet, shaped like a screen with a ridge between them. Observing the mountain shapes, they resemble a crouching dragon and a lurking tiger. The dragon-shaped mountain ridge undulates continuously, starting from the dragon’s tail and ending at the dragon’s head, with the Extremely Yin Land located in between.
It sounded quite sinister.
Tu Jin added, "The corpses buried in Extremely Yin Lands do not decompose over time and can bless descendants. In terms of feng shui, it’s also considered a good site."
These mystical concepts, coming from a world governed by science, were completely incomprehensible to her. Anyway, since the two experts said so, it must be true. She shrugged her shoulders and instructed Qi Zai to land.
The Wu Family Manor wasn’t large, and judging from the layout, it was just a small courtyard with four sections, which didn’t match the current wealth and influence of the Wu Prefecture. Yet, this small manor firmly occupied the mountain hollow’s position. At night, the silhouette of the Wu Family Manor backed by mountains seemed like a living entity, its shadows stretching slowly and shaking, like an evil ghost extending its arms to drag everything within reach into the darkness.
