The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 300: Birthday ball (1)
Chapter 300: Birthday ball (1)
"You shall be the most beautiful woman attending the ball tonight, Queen Hazel. You always look so lovely in yellow."
"Thank you, Daisy. It is your handy work that makes me look this beautiful. My family is to attend the ball tonight so please be on the lookout for them and bring them to me right away. I am in desperate need of one of my father’s hugs," Hazel said as she smoothed down the front of her dress.
"I shall have one of the servants outside inform your family that they are to go straight to the throne, but I shall also stay near the doors to escort them. Many of the guests are arriving and I have heard that they have come with a lot of gifts. Shall I have what can fit sent to your room?" Daisy asked.
Hazel knew that the only gift Tobias would like to open tonight would be when taking off her dress, but she would love to see what the people had gifted their king. It was always interesting each year.
"Only place a few small gifts. I do not want to go through another year of opening a love letter sent to my husband and those dresses that were worn," Hazel shook her head. "They are smart not to put their names on those kinds of gifts. Please have the gifts inspected."
"I shall have all the love letters and worn dresses taken out," Daisy noted. She would also put aside what was sent about a child.
Many of the women in town had been supportive of what Hazel endured and sent her gifts to cheer her up. From toys for the future royal baby to what they believed could help to become with child.
Daisy didn’t want a child to be on Hazel’s mind now since the night was all about the king. The king and queen were more than deserving of a good night without hearing about babies. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"Where is my lovely wife?" Tobias asked as he entered the room. "We must leave now or we will be late. Though I wouldn’t mind spending my birthday here with you."
Daisy quietly made her way out of the room as the king came to hug Hazel.
"You cannot spend your birthday here after all the planning we have done. Many of your friends are waiting to celebrate with you and this is the end of the season. We shall witness some last proposals before next season. We should go down to watch the tears of happiness," Hazel said, turning around so she could look at Tobias.
"Or tears from sadness. A few might witness the person they were considering getting engaged to someone else. Why are they picking my birthday to be the night for their last chance to wed? Should I ban proposals-"
Hazel covered Tobias’s mouth. "You will do no such thing. Let them find their love tonight. I want to enjoy dancing with you among couples happily in love."
Tobias raised his brow since he didn’t know they were to dance tonight. "You want to dance with our guests?"
"Yes. We should make another change by getting to enjoy the ball. What fun is it for us after all the planning we did to just sit on the throne all night? I want to walk around and enjoy myself with our guests. Enjoy my time with you so, might I have a dance with you tonight?" Hazel asked, making the first offer.
Tobias picked up her right hand to kiss it. "You beat me to it, Hazel. You can have as many dances as you want. Now, let us go before our friends come searching for us."
Tobias continued to hold Hazel’s hand so they could walk together. His birthday was a much-needed break after all that they had to deal with the last few days.
It was unknown if Jeffrey and Tabitha had accepted the invitation Tobias offered because of his sister, but regardless of the decision they made, Tobias knew that he would enjoy his birthday.
"If you don’t mind, I will be escorting Sofia out of the palace tomorrow during the time that you will be with your family. Sofia needs a day out to feel normal. I will bring her back in time so that I don’t miss most of your family’s visit. Would you like to join us?" Tobias offered.
It could be turned into a family outing.
"No," Hazel shook her head. "Sofia needs time with you. Then I can keep her by my side for the rest of the day. I worry about how she takes being in the middle. She no longer gets to enjoy seeing all of us sitting together. Do you think she is at a good age to explain it?"
Tobias knew that his sister was privy to a few things. Everyone liked to keep seeing Sofia as a child and in his eyes she was as well, but she was old enough to understand what was happening around her. "You do not need to be the one to tell her. That would only bring more trouble with my mother."
"Right. I don’t want your mother to think that I am turning Sofia against her. If only one of our friends had a younger sibling Sofia’s age for her to have someone to speak with. She won’t share with us all that she is feeling. That is saved for her friends. I will think about it tomorrow," Hazel said, turning her attention back to the ball.
The music was starting to reach her ears as they got closer to the ballroom. Hazel could already imagine herself dancing around with Tobias and catching up with her friends.
Hazel looked forward most to seeing Linda tonight. Though Tobias said that the remaining Hensons were not traitors, there was still some whispering about Linda and her family. Hazel had not invited Linda to the palace for her return since she wanted to know what was being said first. She was going to protect her friend from awful rumours and gossip.
Hazel hoped Linda would show up to enjoy the night with all their friends as Linda just might find herself being one of the women to receive a proposal.
