The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 311: Gift (2)
Chapter 311: Gift (2)
"Despite there not being a lot of men from the court present today, I think that it went well," Daisy said, trying to cheer up Hazel.
"It did," Hazel replied, fanning herself as the heat was starting to get to her. "I need to sit and rest but I must make it to tell Tobias what I discussed. Do I need to walk around more? I feel like I have been getting more tired fast lately."
Daisy thought the same since it was strange for Hazel to be tired so fast when it came to walking. Normally, it was she who became tired and struggled to keep up with Hazel, but now it was the opposite. "It might be the warm weather that is getting to you. I can get water and a fan for you."
"There may be some in the king’s room so do not leave my side yet. I need this weather to change as I overslept this morning and almost missed speaking to Mark. I must do better," said Hazel.
It might be that she was not getting enough rest so now she was tired when morning came around. All Hazel wanted to do now was to find a quiet space to sit where there was shade and the wind was blowing to help her fall asleep.
Daisy stood close to Hazel in case something should happen. This was a regular occurrence with Hazel who was normally a busy bee. It was reaching a point where they should see a doctor about it. "Should I bring a doctor? It is better to have this checked now than later when it becomes noticed by the king."
Hazel didn’t want to trouble a doctor and be told that she might just be feeling lazy but she didn’t want to wait and let this grow into something more. She did not want to have everyone go back to being concerned for her.
Hazel had finally gotten them all to stop treating her as if she were a baby.
Hazel gasped as something came to mind.
Daisy had to stop fast before she could collide with Hazel after the queen stopped so suddenly.
"Daisy, when was the last time I bled? It doesn’t come to my mind right now," Hazel said, speaking softly so no one around them could hear.
Daisy tried to think back to a time when she had removed spoiled sheets or clothing from Hazel to have them sent to be washed. "I," she started but had to think again. She had been so busy running around the palace with Hazel that she had not stopped to question why she didn’t need to send anything down to be washed.
Hazel knew from Daisy’s wide-eyed reaction that they had the same thought. "I can’t think of anything after the time my husband and I left the palace to be alone and then I ended up going to the duke’s estate. When was it last before that time?"
Daisy tried her hardest to remember. "Oh! It was two weeks before you left the palace. You were happy that it happened then so your trip would not be ruined. Could it be that you are with child?"
Daisy knew it was wrong to get ahead of herself and give Hazel false hope but she couldn’t help herself. This was just what Hazel needed now. To finally have the child she always wanted.
"I think that as well but we must see a doctor. Let us not get ahead of ourselves," Hazel said but still could not stop smiling. She found some strength to go over to where the new doctor she was using stayed.
Hazel prayed as she walked that this would be the time. That she could take the good news to Tobias.
Hazel was careful with her steps to not hurt herself. If she was pregnant, now was not the time to be careless and lose it. Then that would be her own doing and she would not be able to live with herself.
Hazel knocked on the doctor’s door when she reached his quarters. She hoped that he was in so she did not have to send a group of guards after him. She was in luck as the door opened, revealing the short doctor.
"Queen Hazel! What a surprise. Is there something I can help you with?" Doctor Gray asked. While he welcomed the visit, the queen coming to him meant that there was something wrong with her.
"Yes," Hazel answered, stepping inside the room. "Please close the door as this isn’t to get out."
Gray was worried about what was to come. If it was something bad, his life might be on the line here. The queen’s maid was smiling so he thought there was a chance that it was good news to be shared.
Gray closed the door like Hazel asked him to and then waited.
"I have not bled for nearing two months now. You’ve been helping me with what you believed shall help but we have not done a test since you said that it was too early to notice. I have been feeling different recently so maybe that is more evidence of it. Can you please tell me whether I am pregnant or not?" Hazel asked.
She could hardly wait to get the answer.
"Of course," Gray replied, going to get his chair to offer Hazel. He had thought a week ago about checking again but it had slipped his mind.
From what Hazel told him since they last met, she was doing her part to become with child so as long as there wasn’t any more meddling, it could be as she suspected. Since she hadn’t bled for so long, Gray already thought she was pregnant but there was still something he needed to do. It could be a problem that stopped her from bleeding and had nothing to do with a child.
"This is something I put together after looking into what makes women sick at the early stage of their pregnancy. It has proven good on a few of my tests. All I need to do is this," Gray said, removing the cover from the bottle so the scent could fill the room.
Hazel was confused by this as it looked like he had just made some kind of perfume. "I do not-" She covered her nose. The smell was upsetting. Hazel stood up to find something to empty her stomach.
Gray smiled, closing the bottle. "Water from the two boiled eggs I have every morning. It’s a fascinating study to learn why they react that way," he told Daisy.
