Chapter 312: Gift (3)

"Congratulations, Your Majesty. I am curious, did the food prepared for you at breakfast not upset you even once?" Gray asked.

The kitchen was full of eggs which was how he was able to take two every morning to boil here in his room.

"I have been skipping breakfast so I wouldn’t be late to meetings," Hazel confessed, her hand still covering her mouth as the awful scent lingered. She had never noticed how horrible eggs were until now. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

"Well, you cannot do that any longer since you are eating for two. Everything else that I have checked and your answers point to you being pregnant right now. You must be careful and eat. I can have a word with the cooks about what has been said to affect women during this time. Would you like to hear them now as well?" Gray asked, having a feeling she was not listening.

She looked lost in thought.

"If you do not mind, I would love to share this news with the king and then we can summon you to know what we are to do now. I only want to know, how long must I be extra careful?" Hazel questioned, placing her hand on her flat belly as she was already protective.

No one would harm this baby. It would see the light of day and one day sit on the throne.

"Well, I am not exactly certain how far along you are but it is early so I would say for the next few weeks you should limit what you do and you must eat more. You will find it hard to keep down a lot of food so try to eat regularly to make up for what you will throw up," said Gray.

"I shall do my best to take care of you," Gray promised.

Like everyone else, Gray was patiently awaiting the arrival of the next king. He would do his best to have this baby make it. The king had already warned him that should something happen, he might lose his head.

"Thank you. I will do my part as well. I will call upon you soon once I have spoken to my husband. Excuse me," Hazel said, carefully standing up.

Already Hazel noticed a change around her as both Daisy and Gray rushed to her like she couldn’t stand on her own. Once Tobias knew, it was going to be way worse than it was now. Rather than fear feeling crowded Hazel looked forward to it. She had always thought it would be funny to see Tobias so overprotective of her and their child.

"Excuse us," Daisy said to the doctor then rushed to be behind Hazel. Many thoughts were going through her head as she realised there was much she needed to learn to be able to help Hazel. ’Did I do her dress too tight?’

Daisy worried about all the things she had done whilst not knowing that Hazel was pregnant. She bit at her nails. "Queen Hazel, is the dress too snug on you?"

Hazel looked over her shoulder at Daisy and noticed how pale she had become. "Are you already saying that I am fat, Daisy? I didn’t know that happened so soon."

Daisy panicked as she realised how her words came out. "No! I-"

"I was only joking, Daisy. You may relax. Everyone is going to be running around like headless chickens. It is up to you and me to be thinking properly so please take a deep breath and relax," Hazel instructed Daisy.

"It is hard to relax now," Daisy muttered.

Hazel shook her head at Daisy. Daisy was the one who told her it would be easy to not worry so much back when Hazel thought of how the incident with Grant would have her as a mother yet Daisy was the one in distress.

Hazel gave Daisy a needed break as she now stood before Tobias’s private room. The guards opened the door for Hazel to enter while Daisy remained outside.

From the lack of an announcement, Tobias knew that it could only be one of two people who came to see him. "Hazel!" He called to her before she came into his view. "Back from the court already? Did you start a few fights there?"

Hazel tried her best not to comment on the mess in the room. Precious books were all over the room. Tobias didn’t comment on the state of the room she used so she was trying not to speak on his. "It was only Mark there so there weren’t any fights. I shared a few ideas with him and heard his. I came to share them with you."

"Did you? Come over here to have a seat on my lap and tell me. Don’t look so suspicious of the offer. I only want to hold my wife."

Hazel knew not to trust his innocent words. She had been fooled before by his claims that he only wanted to hold her. Still, she walked toward him. "Let it just be me sitting on your lap. I don’t know if it is safe for us to do more."

Tobias didn’t know what she spoke of but she came near him so that was all that mattered. ’What are you speaking of now, Hazel? Sometimes you speak in riddles,’ he said as he helped her to his lap. "You smell wonderful. A kiss could not possibly be so bad right now."

Hazel placed her right hand over Tobias’s mouth. "If I kiss you right now, it will certainly lead to other things and I do not know if it will be good for the baby. I didn’t want to ask the doctor about it with you not present. It is a little embarrassing. Tobias?"

"Baby? Good for the baby?" Tobias repeated, loosening his hold on her as the word repeated in his head. His gaze went to her belly which he now noticed she was touching. "You are pregnant?"

Hazel smiled, nodding her head as she took his hand to place on her belly. "We will have a baby."
