Chapter 119: Chapter 119

I had gone through all the emotions but the one I felt most of the time was anger. I was angry that Jax didn’t protect me. I was angry that Claire was putting up an act for Jax and he didn’t even notice. I was angry that Luke had been trying to touch me and kiss me and I had to keep pushing him away. I was angry that they had me locked up in a hut for weeks and there was nothing I could do.

I was so angry that the witch was still helping Luke. I think the witch’s help hurt me the most. Jax had sent people to search the Cave and Luke felt so happy. He pulled me out of the hut and made me watch as they searched for me. They couldn’t see or hear us. Luke bragged about the cloaking spell the witch had used.

There was no way Jax would find me.

I groaned as I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I needed to eat something but food was very limited. Luke hardly ever remembered to feed me. I laid on the floor, like I usually did and tried to bear the pain.

The pain started coming frequently and I knew it wasn’t normal. Something was off. I manageably got on all fours and crawled to the door of the hut. I tried to open the door but I couldn’t. I was stuck here. I didn’t know why I even tried. I knew it was locked and barricaded with a very large rock.

"Argh." I screamed out as the pain became unbearable. I closed my eyes and sharply inhaled. I needed help. I needed someone to come and check on me and my baby. Something was wrong. "Luke!" I screamed, trying to get his attention. I crawled back to my position and laid down on the floor. "Luke!" I screamed out in pain.

"Jax, please find me." I tried to use my mate bond. "I think I’m having our baby." I knew it wasn’t going to work but it didn’t hurt to try. I wanted Jax here with me right now. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Luke." I called as tears streamed down my eyes. I needed Jax with me. I wanted him to hold my hand and tell me it was going to be okay. I wanted him to soothe me. I wanted-

"Argh!" I screamed as I felt pressure in my belly. I banged on the wall but I knew there was no use. All my energy and strength were focused on the pain in my belly that there was little damage that my weak hands could do.

"Jax, please I need you." I begged silently. I raised my eyes to the roof. "If this is what you want from me, that’s okay but don’t let my baby suffer. I’ve come this far and if it’s my time to go, then so be it but please protect my baby." I prayed to the moon goddess. I had accepted my fate. No one was coming to my aid.

I cried and screamed as the pain kept getting worse. I tried banging on the wall to get someone’s attention but nothing. I closed my eyes trying to contain my tears and bear the horrible pain.

I suddenly felt pee release from my body. It took me a while to realize my water broke. I tried to get up but I didn’t have the strength to. Luke had been starving me for a while, there was no way I would have any strength.

I heard foot steps and I prayed it was someone coming to help. I didn’t know what to do or how to go about it. The pain kept increasing and it made it even harder for me to move. I tried banging on the walls repeatedly for them to hurry up.

The door opened and light streamed into the hut. I turned my head over to the side to look at who was there. It was the Shaman.

"I felt your pain. You’re in labor." She said as she walked back outside.

"Please don’t leave me." I cried out in pain. I needed help. I needed to give birth this instant. My body was hurting. "Please come back."

She walked back inside with a bowl of water and a small rag dangling on her shoulder.

"You have to follow all my instructions or else you won’t have a safe delivery." She instructed as she dropped the bowl and the rag on the floor she walked back out of the room and returned almost instantly. She closed the door behind her and handed me a bowl of liquid.

"Drink up. It will help with the pain and also give you nutrients and strength." She said as she knelt down in front of my legs. I quickly drank the liquid, not caring about the taste.

"Open your legs and let’s deliver this baby."

Jax*

I felt a slap jolting me from my sleep. I looked around in shock as my heart pounded against my chest. We were in the main hall, which I now used as my room. I couldn’t bring myself to fall asleep in my room without Leonora there. The walls and the bed felt so cold. There was no laughter or nagging. I couldn’t perceive her scent anymore.

"When did I sleep off?" I asked as my eyes settled on Devon and Bethany. They joined me in the hall to keep me company even though I told them that they could stay in their rooms.

"We were talking and you passed out. Then I think you were having a nightmare as usual." Bethany said and I sighed. The only time I could sleep was when my body forced me to.

"What was it about?" Devon asked me and I sat up. I closed my eyes and thought back to my dream. Something pulled me to the cave. It’s like it wanted me to be there. In the dream, I could hear my baby crying.

"Leonora is in the cave." I said as I opened my eyes. I quickly scrambled from the floor. "We have to go there now."

"We already searched the cave multiple times. She’s not there." Devon said as I walked over to my bag. I opened it and picked out all the clothes. The dagger Leonora used was at the bottom of the bag. I found it in the dungeon during our first sweep of the compound and also got a sleeve for it. I picked it up and looked at it. I was going to kill Luke, no matter what.

"Jax. You’re scaring us." I heard Bethany say as I stuffed the dagger in my pocket. "What are you doing?"

"I know you may not believe me but I can sense her. She’s there. My child’s there." I said as I turned to look at them. They both had a look of worry in their eyes. "Please, I’m serious this time. I’m sure of it. She’s there."

"That’s what you’ve said every single time." Bethany said as she got up from the floor. "I’m not saying that we’re giving up, I’m saying that we need to rest a bit before we go out again. We haven’t slept properly, haven’t eaten. We’ve gone out every day since to search for her." Bethany tried to reason with me but there was nothing I could do other than leave. I turned around and tried to walk out of the door but she blocked me.

"Hey man, wait a minute." Devon said as she joined her. "Eat something at least."

"She has been missing for weeks now. I’m still in this fucking house while she’s out there. Who knows what she’s been going through? If you don’t want to come with me, it’s fine and I understand but I’m sure of it." I said as I felt a lump in my chest. "I’m s-sure." My voice quivered and I turned away to clean my tears before they fell. I felt their arms on my back as they comforted me.

"We’ll go with you, okay?" Bethany said as she walked in front of me. "Leonora is going to need you to be strong. You are going to find her and then we’ll take care of Luke and his accomplice."

"Just sit for a minute. I’ll prep us to go." Devon said and I felt his hand leave my body. Bethany pulled me over to a corner and we sat down.

"I understand you." She said and I looked at her. "It’s so close to her due date so the baby can come at any time." I nodded as I didn’t have anything to say. All I knew was that I wanted to find my mate. "I think she’s okay. I don’t think anything is going to happen to her."

Why do you think so? You don’t know how Luke is." I pointed out to her. Luke was sadistic. He might hurt Leonora as a way to get back to me. He knew taking Leonora was the only way to punish me.
