Chapter 455: Three Kings in One Ballroom

The atmosphere inside the ballroom suddenly became awkward. Even Averon fell silent for a few moments. On the other hand, Bianca exchanged glances with Primrose, signaling her to ease the tension between their husbands.

But why should Primrose be the one to do that? 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

The King of Azmeria was the one who had made the situation awkward, so he should be the one to resolve it. Besides, if he had decided to discuss something as trivial as their walking positions, then Averon should also be able to resolve a problem as big as something that could shake the political situation like this.

"I-I see..." Averon finally said. He laughed awkwardly and glanced at Primrose for a moment. "I suppose our traditions really are very different. In our kingdom, women show respect by walking behind their husband and lowering their heads when they speak to him."

Edmund narrowed his eyes slightly as he spoke in his mind. [Wife, this man is a bad person. A husband should never ask his wife to bow her head. It is the husband’s duty to do that.]

He continued, [Or perhaps the husband is just too short.]

Primrose bit her lower lip, trying hard to hold back her laughter. Well, compared to Edmund, Averon was indeed quite short. The height difference between him and Bianca was not that big either. If Bianca wore high heels, he would end up looking even shorter.

Edmund looked like he wanted to speak right away, but Primrose quickly tightened her grip on his hand, silently telling him not to speak too roughly. If he did, it would make him look bad in front of everyone.

Right now, people had started to think that Edmund was not as bad as they had thought before. That was why Primrose didn’t want him to ruin that image too quickly.

Luckily, before Edmund could say anything reckless, a loud shout from the guards pulled everyone’s attention away.

"Announcing Their Majesties, King Rowan and Queen Rowena of Elandria!" the guard shouted.

Primrose turned toward the door. She moved so quickly that she almost fell, but thankfully Edmund immediately supported her back.

[What? Rowena is back?!]

In just a moment, everyone stopped paying attention to Primrose and shifted their focus to Rowena.

[That ugly woman? I’m honestly surprised King Rowan didn’t throw her away after their wedding night.]

[Does her face still look as disgusting as before?]

Primrose quietly clenched her teeth when she heard those cruel words about Rowena. Even though the insults weren’t aimed at her, they still made her angry.

After all, Rowena was her good friend, and hearing these people hate Rowena just because she had an unpleasant face was extremely irritating!

They should take a good look at themselves in the mirror and see that their current faces were nothing compared to Rowena’s face in the past.

Primrose clicked her tongue silently and patiently waited for the King and Queen of Elandria to step into the ballroom. People had expected to see the ugly face of the queen, but instead, they saw something unexpected.

Rowena, the woman who had been called the ugliest woman in Azmeria, suddenly appeared with her former face, the beautiful face that once made many men line up just to ask for her hand.

Even Primrose was taken aback when she saw it. She straightened her back, locking her eyes onto her like a hawk that had just spotted its prey.

Rowena looked as beautiful as starlight, and Primrose couldn’t help but want to cry.

She remembered all the insults people had thrown at Rowena, how they mocked her and even branded her as "the ugliest woman in Azmeria." Last year, Rowena had told her that her husband called a skillful witch doctor who could rebuild her face and return it to how it used to be.

Rowena once said that her husband had never blamed her for her face. Instead, he only brought her a witch doctor so she could feel better about herself.

At first, Primrose had doubted it, because usually, people who tried to fix their faces ended up failing. But now, as she looked at Rowena standing right in front of her, Primrose felt truly happy because the witch doctor had really brought back Rowena’s beautiful face.

She even looked more beautiful and more sparkly than before!

No wonder people said that a wife’s beauty lies in her husband. When a husband treats his wife with love and care, she will shine even more. But if a husband treats his wife like a servant, then even a beautiful swan can lose its feathers.

"Greetings, Your Majesties," Rowena said with a gentle smile as she stood before Primrose and the others. Every move she made was soft and graceful, even the way she looked at someone was full of manners.

[I can’t believe I finally meet Rosie again right now!] Rowena spoke in her mind. But instead of sounding graceful, her inner voice sounded like she had drunk too much caffeine. [She’s so beautiful! Damn, is she really Primrose? I don’t remember her looking this mature. I remember her having such a baby face back then!]

Primrose’s smile twitched slightly. She didn’t even remember ever having such a baby face. Rowena probably thought that way because she was older than her.

"Greetings, Your Majesty," Primrose said as she gave a small curtsy and smiled. "I’m glad I can finally see you again, Nana." She lowered her voice when she called Rowena by her nickname.

She didn’t mean to say it out loud and had even prepared herself in case Rowena wanted to scold her. However, to her surprise, Rowena leaned toward her and whispered, "It’s nice to see you too, Rosie."

Rowena then laughed softly and patted Primrose’s shoulder, just like an older sister would.

Primrose smiled, her eyes softening. She felt truly relieved because Rowena was really as kind as she seemed, and she held no ill feelings toward Primrose at all.

On the other side, King Rowan walked over to Averon and Edmund. The three kings greeted each other and exchanged handshakes.

The people around them couldn’t hide their amazement. They never thought they would witness three kings standing together in the same room.

"This kingdom has even sent two women to become queens in other kingdoms," someone whispered in awe. "This kingdom truly is blessed by the gods."
