Chapter 506: My Husband Looks Hot

Sometimes, Primrose truly didn’t understand her husband.

He could be awkward, quiet, even a little clumsy when talking to other people. Yet somehow, when it came to her, he always knew exactly what to say.

Even in the early days of this life—when they were still learning how to talk to each other properly—he had already found ways to make her cheeks burn.

It wasn’t fair at all.

If an anti-social lycan was able to make his wife blush all the time, why couldn’t normal men do the same?

Well... maybe other men just didn’t try as hard as he did.

"But I still don’t like it when Averon thinks about you in a dirty way." Edmund’s expression turned sour in an instant. "Even though I can’t read his mind, his expression alone is enough to show that he’s lusting after you."

[And it’s not even my wife’s fault.] Edmund snorted inwardly. [People can admire my wife’s beauty, but I hate it when someone looks at her in a dirty way.]

[Worse... my wife can even clearly hear their dirty minds.] Edmund gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. [Wouldn’t that make her feel violated? Wouldn’t that make her uncomfortable?]

Honestly... he wasn’t wrong.

There were times when Primrose felt disgusted, yet not at the men, but at herself. When strangers kept thinking terrible things about her, a strange shame crept into her heart.

Wasn’t that ironic?

She was the one being harassed, yet she was also the one who felt disgusted with herself.

"I promise I won’t let him get too close to you or touch even a single strand of your hair." Edmund wrapped his hands around hers.

"But if he accidentally does, you don’t have to feel like you’re dirty. He’s the dirty one, while you’re my precious wife, more valuable than the Celestine Heart Gems."

Primrose laughed softly. "Is that so? You even had to go down into the abyss just to get those gems."

"It was only an abyss," Edmund replied calmly. "But to win your heart, I had to lose something precious first... you."

Primrose held her breath when she heard his words. After all, her death was the most traumatic experience for him, and for herself as well.

"That’s why," Edmund continued with a gentle smile, "to me, you’re more precious than anything in this world. You can’t even be compared to an object. My wife is far too precious for that."

Every time he said things like this, something in Primrose’s chest ached softly.

It wasn’t pain, but it was fear.

She was afraid of losing this. Afraid of losing a husband who loved her this deeply. Afraid that one day, she might wake up and find that this warmth was gone.

Just as Edmund treasured her, she treasured him just the same. There was no jewel, no power, no person in this world who could replace him.

"My husband is also very precious to me," she whispered before leaning forward to hug him tightly. "Let’s go on a date after we come back from the palace."

Edmund’s hand moved gently along her back. "A date sounds perfect."

They hugged each other for a while before finally forcing themselves to stop being affectionate for a moment because they had an important topic to discuss.

"The moment we get there, I want you to be the one who talks more to Averon about the mysterious man," Primrose said. "Averon is the type of person who sees women as second-class, so you can’t gain his trust if you behave normally. You need to act a little like him, not entirely like him, just a little is enough."

Edmund frowned slightly. "You mean... like the act we put on back in Moonshadow City?"

Primrose nodded, though it was clear she didn’t like what she was about to say.

"Yes... unfortunately, like that," she admitted softly. "But Averon doesn’t show his hatred toward women as openly as the Marquess of Moonshadow did. So we won’t need to go to that extreme." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

She hesitated for a moment before continuing, "What I actually want... is for you to act like someone who wears a mask. Someone who hides his worst side behind a calm face."

At the banquet, Edmund had openly declared that he cherished Primrose so much that he didn’t even want her walking behind him.

In front of everyone, it looked romantic, even obsessive. But now, she wanted him to make it seem like that had only been an act, just a show to protect his image.

After all, many political figures were skilled liars. It was normal for nobles to act one way in public and another way in private. Even then, no one would question it.

"You have to act like I’m just your property," Primrose said. "That’s why you get angry when someone tries to hurt me, not because you love me, but because you don’t like it when someone touches what belongs to you. Like an owner who doesn’t want his precious item to be damaged."

The moment the words left her mouth, Edmund’s expression darkened because he clearly hated hearing her describe herself that way.

But no matter how much he disliked it, he understood. There were many men in this world who truly saw their wives as nothing more than possessions. In noble society, that kind of behavior wasn’t strange at all.

So if he suddenly acted colder, more distant, more possessive in front of Averon, no one would question it. In fact, they would probably think it suited him perfectly.

"Then... I’m sorry if I accidentally hurt your feelings later," Edmund said softly. "You can slap me afterward if you want."

Primrose couldn’t help but laugh. "I always know which words you mean from your heart, and which ones you don’t truly agree with." She tilted her head slightly and teased, "My husband, your mind is very loud."

Edmund lowered his head a little, his voice softer than before. "Is it really that loud?"

She nodded without hesitation. "Very loud." Then her expression softened. "Besides, I know you too well. I don’t believe you’re the kind of man who would treat his wife like an object."

He had already stated that before, so Primrose had no reason to misunderstand him, even if he had to pretend later.

"Because you’re not an object," Edmund said firmly, lifting his gaze to meet hers.

"I know," Primrose answered with a small smile.

"And I love you."

"I know." She giggled lightly, her eyes shining. "And I love you too."

Honestly, Primrose wished they could stay in that sweet moment a little longer. But unfortunately, they could no longer act that way, as the Azmeria Palace was already right before their eyes.

"Remember to pretend, alright?" Primrose reminded him gently as they waited for the soldiers to open the gate.

Edmund gave her a firm nod. "I understand."

The moment he said that, he immediately looked away from her. Even when the soldier asked about the reason for their visit, Edmund’s voice sounded colder than usual.

Honestly... he was acting the way he used to be. BBack then, she used to dislike this version of him because he had felt too cold, and too hard to approach.

But now?

Now that she knew it was only an act... that beneath that cold mask was a man who loved her deeply, she couldn’t help but think he looked even hotter like this.
