The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 76 - 075: Why let him hold you
Chapter 76 - 075: Why let him hold you
In the study room, three men sat opposite each other on the black leather sofa.
Shi Weiqing flicked the lighter's wheel and lit the cigarette held between his fingers. He took a deep drag and casually propped his legs on the table.
"Are you sure it's Jin Heng?" Xu Fan hid his shock, his eyebrows knitted tightly.
Ever since Shi Weiqing told them about the golden lock, he had a bad feeling.
Shi Weiqing exhaled a puff of smoke: "The golden lock means nothing; the strongest evidence is the paternity test."
The old affairs of the Jin Family aren't easy to trace. If Jin Heng really has an illegitimate daughter, all traces of her would have been erased long ago.
"Isn't it simple? Just have Jin Yunzhi pluck a hair from his father," Xu Linchuan leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice.
"No way." Xu Fan immediately dismissed the idea, looking seriously at the other two: "He has a competition next month, we can't let him get distracted."
Knowing Jin Yunzhi's personality, asking him to randomly pluck a hair would just lead to wild guessing, possibly making the situation worse.
"Let's hold off for now." Shi Weiqing had thought of this problem already, which is why he chose to have this conversation away from Jin Yunzhi, in the study.
The atmosphere grew silent, and no one spoke for a while.
Xu Fan, rarely, lit a cigarette. His eyes were lidded, and the white mist obscured the emotions in them: "Maybe I should go home and ask the old man?"
"Bro, are you sure?" Xu Linchuan raised his eyebrows, teasingly: "With the old man's temper, asking about these things is just asking for a scolding."
Being scolded is the least of it; if the cane comes down, it truly hurts like hell.
Xu Fan mumbled a bit, about to speak, when a deep voice interrupted him.
Shi Weiqing flicked his cigarette ash: "Not necessary yet, I'll decide after I finish investigating."
"Alright, if needed, let my brother know, and he can ask." Xu Linchuan patted Xu Fan's shoulder, with a look that seemed to say 'I'm entrusting you with a glorious mission.'
Xu Fan brushed his hand off in annoyance: "Such a coward."
"Tch, aren't you here though?" Xu Linchuan touched his nose, grinning roguishly.
He placed his hand on Xu Fan's shoulder again: "I wish Yu Zhi were my sister."
At the mention, two gazes turned toward him simultaneously.
"Why?"
"Then I could have someone call me 'brother,' ha ha ha."
Xu Fan looked puzzled: "Who's 'someone'?"
"Besides the two of us, who else is here?" Xu Linchuan blinked, wildly hinting.
"Shi—"
Halfway through, Xu Fan abruptly turned to stare at Shi Weiqing, shocked no less than before.
His voice trembled slightly: "You're with that young girl?"
Shi Weiqing shook his head, and before Xu Fan could catch his breath, he spoke again calmly: "Soon."
"She's not an adult yet, is she?"
"Nearly nineteen."
Xu Fan: "..." He was speechless.
He took a drag from his cigarette, leaned against the back of the sofa to calm down, and after quickly accepting the fact, he curiously asked: "When did it start?"
Shi Weiqing thought back seriously: "The day she came to sell oranges."
It must have been from that moment on that she caught his attention, and then things spiraled out of control.
"Love at first sight?" Xu Fan smirked: "Turns out you like her type."
Previously, they all discussed among themselves who Shi Weiqing would end up with.
Who would have thought, he would be easily captivated by a mere nineteen-year-old girl.
Shi Weiqing also smiled, a gentle expression appearing on his face: "She's different from others."
"No wonder you aren't interested in those women." Xu Linchuan clicked his tongue lightly.
Compared to them, Yu Zhi was indeed much better than those society ladies hovering around him.
She wasn't as pretentious, wasn't as demanding, and even while being interesting, she had a unique charm.
Shi Weiqing leaned forward and extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray: "Alright, let's head down first."
At the mention of the young girl, he felt an itch in his heart, as if he couldn't wait to see her immediately.
**
"Ah ah ah!"
"Here he comes, he's coming out!"
Shi Weiqing had just stepped out of the room when he heard waves of exclamations.
He quickened his pace down the stairs, only to witness a scene that made him intensely jealous.
"Jin Yunzhi, what are you doing?" Shi Weiqing pried apart the arms wrapped around Yu Zhi and pushed the person away.
His voice was icy, devoid of any warmth.
"Ah? Brother Wei, you scared me to death!" Jin Yunzhi clutched his chest, yet to recover from the fright, having not noticed his odd behavior at all.
Shi Weiqing gave him a dispassionate glance, then wrapped an arm around Yu Zhi's waist, pulling her closer. He lowered his head, his tone filled with displeasure: "Why did you let him hold you?"
"He wasn't holding me." Yu Zhi's lashes trembled slightly, her lips pressed together: "He got frightened."
"That's still not allowed." Shi Weiqing pinched her waist gently, dominantly whispering: "Don't let others touch you next time, understand?"
Yu Zhi nodded, her ears tinged with pink. Her almond-shaped eyes glanced at him, then quickly lowered.
Listening to their conversation, Xu Fan walked to Jin Yunzhi's side, patted his head, and chided: "Afraid yet still watching horror movies?"
"I'm not scared at all." Jin Yunzhi mumbled, but just as he said it, a faceless creature jumped out from the computer screen, making him scream once again.
With Yu Zhi not beside him, he clung tightly to Xu Fan's arm, huddling in the other's embrace, continuously exclaiming: "Here it comes again...!"
"Those are all fake." Laughing, Xu Fan shook his head, his hand resting leisurely on his knee rose to pat his back gently.
Jin Yunzhi acted as if he couldn't hear him, clinging even tighter.
This scene made Yu Zhi's imagination run wild.
She tugged at Shi Weiqing's sleeve, tiptoed to his ear, and whispered: "What is their relationship?"
Shi Weiqing: "..."
He shifted his gaze to Xu Fan, noticing the emotion that flickered in the other's eyes, and raised an eyebrow.
From childhood, Xu Fan had pampered Jin Yunzhi the most, giving him whatever he wanted. If someone made Jin Yunzhi cry, Xu Fan would be the first to rush in.
So over the past twenty-plus years, friends around them got used to their way of interacting and never speculated beyond it.
Shi Weiqing pulled the young girl to sit beside them, resting his chin on her shoulder: "Why do you ask?"
Yu Zhi arched her brows: "It just feels kinda odd."
Shi Weiqing responded with a soft 'hmm,' and when he saw the young girl's cheeks unknowingly flush, he lightly tapped her forehead: "What nonsense are you thinking?"
