The tense silence between them lingered as Seo Da-rae turned away from Kang In-hyuk.

"If you're going to keep talking about Yoon Tae-seo, I'm going home."

Seo Da-rae made it clear that he had no patience to listen to anything related to Yoon Tae-seo.

"As you can see, I'm not feeling well right now."

The flush on Seo Da-rae’s lowered face showed no sign of fading. It meant that the drowsy sensation still lingered within him. On top of that, Kang In-hyuk’s pheromones, still faintly present in the air, were stimulating Seo Da-rae’s own, which had only just settled after his heat cycle.

If he let himself get swept up in those pheromones, he felt like he might end up confessing everything he had done. They were sweet yet dangerously seductive. That was why, even as he repeatedly licked his dry lips, Seo Da-rae refused to meet Kang In-hyuk’s gaze.

He reached for the doorknob and pressed down. The door lock beeped softly as it disengaged, and the moment the lock released, Seo Da-rae let out a silent sigh. If he could just step outside and be alone for a while...

The sharp click of the door closing rang out instead. Seo Da-rae looked down at his hand. At some point, Kang In-hyuk had reached out, placing his own over Seo Da-rae’s, closing the door again.

"Then just answer one thing for me."

Seo Da-rae stared at his hand, completely enveloped by Kang In-hyuk’s. His skin was still hot, making the coolness of In-hyuk’s touch all the more noticeable. Just moments ago, he had wanted nothing more than to escape from Kang In-hyuk, but now, with just the touch of his hand, he found himself wavering. As long as Kang In-hyuk didn’t say anything to break the moment, he wanted to stay. He wanted to lean on him.

If only he could...

"Does this have nothing to do with you?"

The pressure in Kang In-hyuk’s voice, demanding the truth, made Seo Da-rae’s softened expression instantly harden again.

"No."

Seo Da-rae firmly pushed Kang In-hyuk’s hand away and stepped outside. The lingering traces of Seo Da-rae’s pheromones in the entryway only deepened the turmoil within Kang In-hyuk.

"Haa."

Kang In-hyuk exhaled heavily, rubbing his forehead. He hadn’t been able to sleep properly for days, and the exhaustion was dulling his thoughts.

"Da-rae."

He called out to someone who was no longer there.

"Tae-seo is pregnant."

He had no idea where to begin unraveling the mess in his heart. And if Seo Da-rae was involved somehow, he had no clue how to handle it.

While Tae-seo remained silent, Park Han-soo kept fidgeting—touching his forehead, lightly scratching the bridge of his nose, then resting his hand on his waist. He had rushed over upon hearing that Tae-seo had collapsed, only to be hit with a question that left him deep in thought.

"What does that have to do with you being here?"

He had become an Omega, gone through things he never expected.

As Park Han-soo’s mind grew more tangled, Tae-seo’s, in contrast, felt clearer. Until now, he had only been turning thoughts over in his head, but saying them out loud to Park Han-soo helped organize them.

Tae-seo rested his chin on his hand and shifted his gaze sideways. Park Han-soo scratched his head.

"Is the person who did this to you someone I know?"

"I don’t know yet. Nothing is certain."

"So there is someone you suspect."

When Tae-seo fell silent, Park Han-soo clicked his tongue. He reached out to feel Tae-seo’s forehead, then patted his shoulder. As if that wasn’t enough, he kept fussing, touching here and there, until Tae-seo, irritated, swatted his hand away.

"What are you doing?"

"Checking if anything weird stuck to you."

"Stop wasting your time."

Tae-seo snapped, but Park Han-soo had plenty to say in return. He had seen too much while staying by Tae-seo’s side to ignore it.

"Why is there never a quiet day with you?"

"Han-soo."

"What?"

"I want to live quietly too."

Tae-seo was declaring his innocence. Of course, it wasn’t entirely true that others were to blame for his chaotic life. Everything stemmed from his own actions, and now, he was simply dealing with the consequences.

"I don’t do bad things anymore. I’ve moved on from Kang In-hyuk, and I even apologized."

That was why he had ended up playing the villain. The cause was gone, so there was no longer any reason to continue down that path.

"So just stay by my side and keep an eye on me."

If there was anyone who could do that, it was Park Han-soo. He had always been the only one by Tae-seo’s side. However, Park Han-soo crossed his arms, processing Tae-seo’s words in his own way.

"You mean if you do something crazy, I should stop you?"

"No, the opposite. Watch me so I don’t get into any trouble. Make sure I don’t collapse again."

"I have my own life, you know. You expect me to just keep an eye on you all the time?"

Tae-seo looked at him as if the answer was obvious. Park Han-soo let out a short, exasperated sigh.

"You’re so obsessed with me. What’s so hard about admitting it?"

"...Is that so?"

"If you don’t want me around, I can just go home. Right now. But that means you stop meddling in my business too."

As if to prove he meant it, Tae-seo shifted as if he was about to get up. Park Han-soo immediately raised both hands in surrender.

"Alright, alright. Watching over you isn’t that hard. I do have a lot of interest in you, after all."

"Yeah, I know."

Even if that interest was just because he found Tae-seo entertaining to observe, it didn’t really matter. Tae-seo leaned back against the bed, while Park Han-soo idly scratched his nose and settled back into his seat.

"This feels weird. I think I just got played by Yoon Tae-seo."

"If you’re leaving, get up now. Someone’s coming soon."

"Someone’s coming? Who?"

Despite claiming he was leaving, Park Han-soo made /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ no move to get up and instead turned toward the door. Just as he was trying to guess who might be visiting, the hospital room door swung open, and someone stepped inside.

"By the way, don’t go blabbering about anything we just talked about."

"Huh? What? What do you mean?"

Before Park Han-soo could react, Tae-seo turned his head.

"Hyung, you’re here?"

Tae-seo waved his hand in greeting, and Kang Se-heon responded with a small smile as he stepped inside—only to pause slightly upon noticing Park Han-soo. Immediately, Park Han-soo stood up and bowed.

"Hello. I’m Park Han-soo. I didn’t get the chance to introduce myself properly last time."

"You’ve met Se-heon hyung before?"

Before Kang Se-heon could respond, Tae-seo cut in, curious. He wondered if there was some unexpected connection between them, but Park Han-soo quickly provided the answer.

"I saw him before. When you two were sitting together."

"You mean that bench in front of the science building?"

"Yeah."

Just in case, Tae-seo cautiously brought it up, but Park Han-soo immediately nodded as if he had guessed correctly.

"Why don’t I remember you at all?"

"I waved when I saw you, but you weren’t looking. Only he noticed me."

"I see. But are you really acting like we’re acquainted just because you made eye contact for a second?"

"Of course! They say even brushing shoulders makes people connected. And I—" He gestured with his fingers, forming a V and pointing at his eyes. "I made eye contact with him."

When Tae-seo flicked his hand away, Park Han-soo, who had poked himself in the eye, winced and shook his head in pain.

"Yoon Tae-seo, what the hell!"

"I thought you wanted me to poke your eyes."

As Tae-seo shamelessly retorted, Park Han-soo lowered his hands and struggled to open his eyes again. Watching them, Kang Se-heon moved to stand next to Tae-seo.

"This is the first time I’ve met one of your friends."

Until now, Tae-seo had never introduced anyone to Kang Se-heon. Kang In-hyuk was a different case since they both knew him, but Tae-seo had never once voluntarily mentioned a friend. When Kang Se-heon met Park Han-soo’s gaze and spoke, Tae-seo let out a sigh.

"He’s the only one."

Unfortunately.

That last word, spoken with a hint of bitterness, made Park Han-soo’s expression twist in a strange way. He had been pleased to be called Tae-seo’s only friend, but the fact that Tae-seo found it unfortunate wiped the smile off his face.

"Did I just hear you say ‘unfortunately’?"

"Yeah, you heard right."

"You should be denying it, not confirming it so casually."

Tae-seo shot Park Han-soo a what-do-you-want-me-to-do-about-it look before patting the spot beside him, gesturing for Kang Se-heon to sit. Park Han-soo glanced at the chair he was sitting in, then looked around. The only chair next to the bed was the one he was occupying, while the guest sofa was a bit far from the bed.

"Uh... I think this seat is supposed to be yours, sir..."

Park Han-soo awkwardly stood up. He had just sat there because it was empty, but it seemed like it had an owner.

"Go ahead and sit here. I’ll move to the sofa."

As Park Han-soo stepped aside, Kang Se-heon patted his shoulder.

"Stay where you are."

Instead of sitting, Kang Se-heon simply walked past him, and Tae-seo pulled down his blanket, making space for him.

"Hyung doesn’t like sitting there."

At the same time Tae-seo gestured for Park Han-soo to sit back down, Kang Se-heon sat on the edge of the bed. Seeing how naturally he did it, Tae-seo’s words seemed to be true.

Park Han-soo settled back into his seat, eyeing Kang Se-heon.

"Since our shoulders touched, we’re officially close now."

He rubbed the spot on his shoulder where Kang Se-heon had patted him, holding up one finger as if sealing an unspoken deal. If that wasn’t enough, he even winked. Kang Se-heon stared at him for a moment before shifting his gaze to Tae-seo.

"I know exactly what you’re thinking, but no, we are not the same."

Tae-seo shook his head firmly, making Kang Se-heon close his mouth. Seeing how naturally shameless Park Han-soo was, he understood why he and Tae-seo were friends.

"He’s my friend because I had no other choice, not because we’re alike."

"Yoon Tae-seo, do you ever hold back when you talk about people?"

"You’re the one talking about ‘officially being close’ after one shoulder tap. You’re not one to talk."

Tae-seo clicked his tongue, as if he could see right through Park Han-soo’s intentions. Unlike himself, Han-soo actually wanted to get to know Kang Se-heon.

"Don’t ask him for his number."

"Wow, that’s low..."

Park Han-soo, who had already half-pulled his phone from his pocket, grumbled and stuffed it back.

Once Tae-seo confirmed that Park Han-soo had given up, he turned back to Kang Se-heon.

"Hyung, you’re late."

"I was getting this."

Kang Se-heon set down the paper bag he was holding. Even before he pulled anything out, Tae-seo peeked inside and immediately brightened. He reached in himself and pulled out a box. Excited, he lifted the lid, revealing neatly arranged donuts. Turning to Kang Se-heon, he grinned.

"I thought you wouldn’t be able to get them. The line’s always crazy long."

"Don’t worry about that. Just tell me what you want, and I’ll get it."

"That’s reassuring."

As Tae-seo reached out to grab a donut with his bare hands, Kang Se-heon caught his wrist.

"Wait."

When Tae-seo looked at him questioningly, Kang Se-heon took the box from him. He positioned it so it was in clear view, then took out a donut himself.

"It’d be nice if they came pre-cut into bite-sized pieces, but I doubt you’d wait for that..."

Holding a donut, he brought it to Tae-seo’s lips.

The soft pastry brushed against Tae-seo’s lower lip, the sweet aroma wafting up. Kang Se-heon murmured in a low voice.

"If you get powdered sugar on your fingers, that would bother me."
