The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 351: Cruelt intentions- III
"You have to give something back to the kingdom and we have decided what it is going to be. Before we march down to save your home, you have to tie yourself forever to the house of your beloved."
My mouth felt dry and I could only manage one word out. "What?"
Dominic nodded, there was an evil twinkle in his eyes. He had me where he wanted me. "Yes, you must understand where we are coming from. I cannot ask my people to fight for someone who is not at all related to us."
"If today, they lay down their lives for you, willingly, and out of their loyalty, and tomorrow you choose someone else over Tristan, their sacrifice would be free, nothing."
When another man was mentioned, a dark expression took over Tristan’s face. Unlike before, he was much better at controlling himself. However, the expression remained.
"We have to have some kind of reassurance that no matter what happens, the lives and the effects that our men and the humans would be giving would not be wasted. It would be in the name of their rightful Queen."
Queen.
King.
Tristan..
and me;
Married.
This was the reason why Tristan was displeased and refused to tell me what they had just discussed. This was the reason why Dominique had been so smug.
The uncle knew that the ball was in their code. If I refused then the health was not going to be sent, and if I agreed, they would gain a queen.
He knew that he had me left, right and center.
If I did not agree to the proposal, then I was going to be the reason my kingdom was going to fall into the hands of someone who was going to ruin it. The particular someone who would make sure that my blood line ended after me and my sisters.
However, if I did agree, then I was going to marry Tristan before I could even think about any of it. Before I could think about becoming the Queen of the country, I was always destined to become the Queen of. Before I could even begin to love the man again.
Dominique stood up, poised and graceful. "This is all we ask for. If you understand what kind of exchange is happening, you must understand the powerful reason behind it as well. If you wish to consult with your sister, we will send out a ride right away. Do let the king know if your decision by the end of the night."
Consultation with my sister was going to be on fruitful. If Estelle came to know that marriage was going to give her the kingdom back, she was going to ask me politely first, and then order me as the future queen or the current queen to do it. The only problem was the vampires. With that, still was going to ask me about the background, I was not exactly comfortable sharing.
Dominic left swiftly after that leaving me and Tristan alone in the dining room. The food in front of me was already called, and I had no appetite for continuing to eat anymore.
Appetite was a big word, I did not even have the hunger to look at the food.
"You should have waited for me to tell you what it was."
I smiled sadly, "The only difference in his and your voice was going to be the sugar coating. You were going to be kind to me, he was kind to no one."
Tristan shook his head adamantly. "A choice was going to be given to you—"
"A choice is already given to me. There is nothing that could be done except for what your uncle just told me. It is the only logical way and any other choice is going to impact either of one sides."
Both the ends wanted to gain something and if even one of them got an unfair share, a mutiny would come in.
Dominick’s proposal was actually quite fair. If I had to look at it from the perspective of someone from the outside, I could say that it was very well thought out. The kingdom would be getting a new queen and if the queen was already a part of the Kingdom before the war, then the army would have no problem in participating in it. In fact, they would do it with pride.
However, if they had to do it, without the assurance that the woman was going to be bound to the kingdom, the fight was not going to be fought, if possible, at all.
He must have been saying something but it did not reach my ears. There were some ringing sounds that I could not shake off No matter how hard I tried.
My eyes went to the food in front of me. It was cold and for the likes of me and my kind, inedible. "Could you please have someone give it to the beggar outside the palace?"
By the time I moved my head around to look at him, Tristan stared at me, his mouth open, as if he was in the middle of saying something. So he was indeed talking.
I gulped before standing up and bowing my head slightly. "Please excuse me. If possible, I would take all my meals in my room. I would like to be left alone for the day."
It did not say anything, rather was not given the chance to say anything because I was already on my way to the door. It opened by the time I reached it, Solomon was holding it wide enough for me.
Irene was waiting for me outside as well, with the other two. Turning to Bert, I conveyed, "Please let Merelyn know that I require her presence in my room. I want to talk to her about something important."
That was the last of what I could say before I turned around and walked to my room upstairs as quickly as I could.
