The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 352: Cruel intentions- IV
Irene entered the room behind me, and as much as I wanted to send her a way, I complied with her presence until Marilyn came.
"Your highness, if I may," Irene take a step closer, but she maintained the ideal distance of five steps behind me, even in close presence.
"Go ahead, Irene." I threw myself over the seat and half lied over it. I was tired already and the night had barely begun.
"Maybe, you should consider the proposal in positive light."
I had my eyes closed, but if I had them open, the I would have rolled them at her. This, coming from her was almost expected. She had her loyalties towards her clan and king. So obviously, she was going to push me towards them as well.
"If I am elaborate," she waited for my refusal, but when I did not give it to her, she continued, "you will be killing not just two birds, but a lot of them with one stone. The kingdom is going to go far and beyond to help you and the country where you were born in numerous ways if You Are The Queen."
"Marilyn and Anna told me a few things about you and one of them is that you shared history with the kings. Romantic history. If feelings were there once, then why do you think of them not as a possibility in the future?"
"Because," I opened my eyes, "we were two different people when it happened. I was under the pretense that I was going to a place with my aunt and my cousin, Marilyn, into the country. I met Tristan who was a merchant out on a hunt trying to save girls and young boys from disappearing. We were both under a pittance and now that is over. We have real responsibilities on a shoulder, people depending, kingdoms depending.."
I closed my eyes and held the side of my head. A headache was coming my way soon. "It is very different now from what it was before."
"Maybe it is to you, but from where I am standing, it seems the saying to me."
"You may go and wash your eyes."
Irene came closer, beside my feet. "From where I am standing, all that has changed is what you hid from each other. What you and the king shared, that was true, was it not? You were two people away from responsibilities, happy and free. Deep down, with all the responsibilities and duties, you are the same people."
Irene smiled at me when I opened my eyes. "If you could love each other. At your best, it is expected to love each other with your worst. You have seen him with duties and responsibilities on his shoulders and he has seen you with them. There is nothing more to hide then why don’t you come out and love?"
Because..
Irene smiled when she saw my face, apparently reading what was going on in my mind. "If fear is what is holding you back, then what of the men and women that are going to fight for your country? What are those bravehearts that march into battle and those that take care of the home left behind?"
She picked up and handed me a glass of water. " You’re a woman who went to another country. Under the pretense of no one, anything could have happened to you,"
It did.
"Yet here you stand, after everything, not forgetting what you are and what you represent. Then why be scared of something so simple and lovely as love?"
Because Irene does not know what happened that night. Iron does not know the amount of blood that was on to know after what Tristan did to the men. The blood of the man had saved into the snow along with my own. He was too late and no matter how much ge apologised for it to happen, it was still in my mind.
Someone who was anointed by God had to be as pure as they come. I was not that. I was just.. an aftermath of someone’s lust now.
I could not even lift my eyes to look into Irene’s. The glass of water that she had offered me was still in my hand, remaining there because I didn’t even have the strength to lift to my lips anymore.
What is it not enough that I remembered it every time I looked at myself in the mirror? Why did everyone have to remind me of it one way or another?
When was I supposed to forget about it at all?
Irne took the glass away from me, and without permission, wrapped my hands in her own. " within confined space and trust, Anna may have told me a lot of things. Things that were meant for the years of Anna and the king. Things that have never been told to anyone else and never shall be unless you tell them what it is."
Irene stared into my eyes pointedly, "That does not define you in any way. You are a queen without a crown, a princess of title and a woman who has worked for the upliftment of others in her country. One night does not define the entire life you are going to live and have lived."
"You do not know that." I murmured, looking away from her.
"I do." Irene nodded. " if you let one event define every thing else in our lives, then I do not think anyone would make it past 20 years of their life. Everyone would have to be killed one way or the other for some mistake they made."
"You believe in God, your grace. If your god has not punished you yet for something you did not, then why must you keep on punishing yourself?"
"Maybe, the Lord has finally sent you a man who is going to appreciate your faults and beauty, power and grace. Everything." She smiled ruefully. "I shall make myself busy. Marilyn is here."
