The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 354: A new couple - I
"I thought it would take you longer."
He smiled beautifully. "I felt you needed me. So, here I am."
"You felt it?" I repeated what he said. "How?"
"It is the connection between you and me. My bloodline is quite strong. Even with my father’s human blood in it. Without being bonded, I can still feel when you need me."
I see. Nodding, I turned to look in the front. My decision was premade. It was made before my talks with Irene. They were things I have to do for my country and that was something that came first even without thinking.
However, after talking to my new lady in waiting, I did realize that there may be a chance of a happy marriage. I would have not received such with Terrace, the only time we would have been intimate, would be for the production of the heirs to the throne given he already had found love with someone else. But with Tristan, it might be... different if I was willing.
All I had to do was just place my hand in the hand that had already been extended to me by him.
I just had to take a step forward.
I just had to take a chance.
"Genevive," I heard him call my name, "you do not have to listen to my uncle Dominic. He is a man who has put all of this into motion and he is rather eager to make sure that we have everything in place. I will find a way to make sure your home country received the help—"
"Tristan," I whispered but he heard it. He stopped talking.
"I am saying yes to the proposal offered by your and you."
After becoming king, he was not a man of many expressions. Just like a king, never let anyone know what was going on in his mind, Tristan was the same. One could never tell what he was thinking about.
But in front of me, currently, Tristan’s expressions have changed completely. From his normal, slightly smiling, neutral face to me, it had morphed into a shocked one.
"Genevive." He sighed and stood up. " Please come out and not say that again. You do not have to do this for the sake of your home land. Just because my uncle proposed this. That is not the only option we have for you."
Was it not?
"Are you ever going to let me go back home without expecting me to return?"
My question stopped him in his tracks, and he turned around to look at me. The shop was long gone from his face, and a neutral expression had slipped back, and I knew he did not like what I said.
"What did you just ask me?"
I smiled as I repeated, "will you never let me go back home without expecting me to return back to you?"
"I think you know the answer to that question, Genevieve."
I nodded with my smile. "One way or the other, I am always going to be presented with the option of marrying you as my last choice. As my only choice. Your family is going to do even though you tell them not to because we want the best for you..." and I am best for you.
Looking down for a quick second, I looked back, "Why must I treat you as my last option, Tristan? Why must I be treated as yours? I love to you when we met for the first time and I have left you ever since only I did not realise it on my own. You, on the other hand, has left me since day one."
"And?" He whispered as is enchanted by me.
I gulped. "I do not want to do it in a situation that is presented to me where I treat this as my last option. I know you can find another way but I want to marry you who when I have the chance of loving you and when I know you love me."
"I still feel the love I have for you inside me and I would rather do it when I have it instead of doing it with hatred in my heart for you."
I would hate to be presented with an option where it was either to marry Tristan or not do anything at all. Then, I would truly feel caged in the situation.
Here, I knew Tristan could help another country on the basis of forming an alliance with the royal family and for their support in the upcoming generations but the thought of it happening in the future where I had no other option scared me. It would make me hate him.
I watched him lower himself on his knees in front of me.
Immediately, my responses and mannerisms, I had been taught my entire life, kicked in and I stood up to kneel before him as I was supposed to in front of the king. "Tristan, what are you— please! You are the king—"
"You," he made me sit back down, "you are the true Queen of this country. I, I’m not one of importance in front of you Genevive."
My lips quivered. "You—" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"You have accepted me as I am to be your husband and nothing in the world could bring me more joy." He whispered to me, the world is meant for only my ears and no one elses. "you have chosen me. You love me."
"Yes," I sniffed, "for quite some time actually."
He smiled too. "Say it then."
He wanted to hear it. He needed to hear it and I understood that.
"I love you, Tristan." I whispered through my cries. "I do, I really do."
For the first time in my life, I had confessed to a man I truly loved. An event I never thought would happen with a life I led, but here I was, doing what I had always thought I would never be able to do.
