THE RISE OF AN OMEGA-Chapter 16: Strength awakens
Kira’s POV
Ryker paced to and fro; I stood watching him, waiting for him to say something, anything at all that could explain why he left me to be beaten up.
"Okay, here’s the thing...." he paused
"I was frustrated by his continued silence, so I turned to leave. As I headed in the direction of my house, I felt a hand pull me back."
I turned to see Chad behind me.
"I couldn’t stop her"
"I wasn’t blind, Ryker I could see that you couldn’t", I shot out angrily. "What I want to know is why didn’t you try to stop Her."
"There’s no way I could stop Her" He reached for my hands, gripping them firmly. My eyes flashed with frustration as I yanked my hands away, my movement sharp and unyielding "Don’t you dare", I snapped, my voice laced with anger.
"I hastened my footsteps as I headed home, not giving Ryker a chance to say anything else until I reached my house."
I opened the door and was about to shut it when Ryker obstructed it by placing his foot in the doorway
"I will tell you the truth," he said, Bowing his head
I allowed him in; he sat down on my bed and then began to spill the beans. He told me about how he first met Isabella through his father, who wanted him married at all costs.
He told me how his father wanted someone equally as strong as he was to be his Luna.
I listened carefully as he continued to narrate what had happened in the past and how he tried to make things work between himself and Isabella, but nothing could work.
His parent died, and he still kept on trying to make things work, but Isabella was a tough nut. She was stubborn, and her strength was her undoing.
I stopped him halfway as I began to lose interest. I requested that he tell me how the hell she became an alpha.
"I went on a journey and came back to see that Isabella had become alpha," he said
"Just like that?" I asked
"She had led my pack members to war, a neighbouring pack, who we had always been at peace with, she decided to fight them because she wanted us to have full control she ended up killing the alpha and becoming the new alpha of his pack."
I asked him what he did, but he said all he had done was send her away—banish her. He had banished her, so how the hell did she come back to the pack?
It was then I found out that it was a partial banishment, and she had rushed back to the pack immediately after the time had elapsed. He told me that the reason why he couldn’t say no was because, in their pack, they couldn’t stop an alpha from challenging anyone to a duel.
"Even if the Alpha doesn’t belong to their pack, as long as he or she is in their pack, they are considered one of them."
Ryker urged me to go back to the palace with him; at first, I refused; I wasn’t sure how people saw my last outburst, but Ryker wasn’t giving up. He kept on trying to convince me until I gave in to his request.

We got to the entrance of the palace, and I stood, not sure if I wanted to be in the midst of all these people, but Ryker held me by the hands, and together, we both walked in.
To my greatest surprise, when we walked In, the once noisy place that bubbled up with gossip, became silent. All eyes were on me, it was so weird. I hoped for the ground to open up and swallow me but it didn’t.
I saw Mara standing by the side, staring at me with an icy cold glare, but I couldn’t bother myself with her cold stare; she was insignificant to me anyway.
I saw Emilia and the people who had helped me on my very first day in this pack. Their faces brightened up with smiles. I knew instantly that this persons would stand by me.
We stopped when we got to the centre; initially, when we entered, everywhere was full, but immediately we started walking, everyone began to make way until the centre of the room became free.
Suddenly Isabella appeared from nowhere
"You stupid wench, how dare you..."
"That’s enough", Ryker interrupted, holding her hands and stopping her from attacking me. "You’ve done enough, Isabella. you can let her be" He said.
"No no, I need to..."
Ryker twisted her arms, breaking her bones. "I said that’s enough, Isabella!", he yelled, his voice laced with a low growl.
She forcefully Pulled her hands out if Ryker’s grip
"I will make sure to destroy you; you think you can have Ryker because you are the moon keeper, well you lie; I promise you, you will regret the day you set your legs In here", she said angrily and stormed out of the training room.
Everyone watched as she went out of the room, followed by Mara and people who didn’t want me here.
"My dear wolves, families, and friends, I bring to you the Moon Keeper," Ryker said, extending his arm toward me beckoning on me to come over to where he stood.
He lifted my hands, and everyone began to shout my praise and hail my name. I felt an unspeakable joy. Never had anyone praised my name before.
I was always used to being insulted and bullied, but not anymore. I didn’t know what it was that I did, that explosion, but I knew that whatever it was, it wasn’t a one-time thing. It was something that I would have to train hard for before I could master it.
As everyone praised me, Ryker made an announcement that brought a wide smile to my face. He said he would help me train until I became better and stronger.
*******
"Come on, Kira, you can do this," Ryker urged, his voice firm yet encouraging as he stepped closer, his eyes filled with determination.
I had woken up early, worn a dress that was good enough for combat, and made my way to the training ground in the palace. To my greatest surprise, I found Ryker waiting for me.
He was also wearing casual clothes suitable for combat. He had this very big smile on his face that made me wonder if he had won the lottery.
"Welcome to your first day in training," he said, smiling as he clapped his hands together, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
I smiled back at him. "What are we doing today?" I asked, curiosity sparking in my voice.
"Today, we shall be checking the level of your strength,", He said, snapping his fingers.
Three wolf guards came out dragging out a metal that looked like a vehicle tyre ring but this was heavier than a tyre and it was big too
"No, you can’t be serious" I said shaking my heads
"What do you mean by I can’t be serious," he asked
"You are not expecting me to move something like this are you?" I asked
He smiled. Without saying anything, he ordered the wolf guards to place it at the centre of the training ground.
"Oh no, you can’t be serious about this, right? How do you expect me to lift something that even two wolf guards couldn’t lift comfortably" I lamented.
He went over to where the big metal ring was placed his hands on it and lifted it slightly with one of his hands, then he added the other hand, and was able to lift it a little higher.
"If you can lift it as high as i lifted it with just one hand, that means we are making progress."
"You can’t be serious I am an Omega and you are an Alpha" I said.
"Yes, an Omega who took down an Alpha single-handedly—an Omega who isn’t just any kind, but the Moon Keeper. I’m sure you can do a whole lot more than I can. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were able to lift it even higher than I did," he said, crossing his arms with a knowing smirk as he watched me closely.
I went closer to where the metal ring was kept. It was big; the mere sight of it alone was intimidating and scary. I wondered if I could do it.
I watched as Ryker walked back into the palace, leaving only me with the metal ring.
I moved around the metal ring, trying to figure it out, trying to find how I was going to lift it, but all the ideas I came up with were fruitless. I decided not to think but just act, I began to pull and drag but there was no visible change.
Not even the tiniest shift. I growled. I sat on the metal ring, trying to catch my breath. After a while, I stood up to continue. Just when I was about to give up, I felt a shift in the position of the metal ring.
My face brightened up, I continued to pull the metal ring until it finally lifted.
