Chapter 17: UNEXPECTED STRENGTH

Kira’s POV

Ryker came outside from the shadows, clapping, and congratulating me on my successful lifting of the metal ring. He told me he didn’t expect me to be able to lift it within a short period.

He said it took him a week before he could make a tiny shift, not even a lift, but I was able to make a lift in less than two hours. He asked someone to fetch me a glass of water, which I collected and drank.

He took me to a place where blocks were arranged one after the other, these weren’t just any kind of blocks. They were the strongest of blocks.

"This is another training that tests the strength of a wolf," he said

I nodded my head, not sure of what he wanted me to do. In the blink of an eye, I saw one of the sets of arranged blocks crushing into tiny pieces and spreading on the ground.

I looked at him; he was dusting his palm, and he had broken this block himself with his bare hands. My mouth opened in amazement.

"This is your second training", he said, then walked away. Before he disappeared completely, he yelled from behind, "You can start with the smallest so you don’t end up destroying your palms before you master it."

I looked around, looking for the smallest arranged block; I finally found it on the west side of the training area. I headed towards the block and stood in front of it, not sure of what to do.

I rubbed my hands against the body of the block, trying to feel it so I could know how strong it was. Maybe I would be able to tell the amount of force I need to apply to it.

I went around the block almost ten times before finally making my first trial.

The pain I felt after hitting the block was unlike any other I have felt; well, apart from being chased by that forest beast and then my fight with the female alpha Isabella; this pain I felt was the worst I had ever felt.

I imagined how the other heavier and many blocks piled together would feel. Trying to crash all this block one by one would make me lose my hands for good so I decided to try the smallest and the biggest.

I tried hitting the block again, but there was no change, not even a scratch; I could hear my bones cracking. I tried my left hand, but still nothing. I was getting frustrated, so I sat down on the floor, thinking about how to break the block.

I remember my first training with Ryker. He had talked about concentration. I decided to try again, but this time, I concentrated my thoughts on breaking the pile of blocks.

I stood up, took in a deep breath, stretched my hands out the way Ryker had suggested that I do and tried to concentrate my thoughts, my mind, my feelings, everything Inside of me into breaking this block.

As I closed my eyes, I felt something spark inside me. Without wasting time, I hit the pile of blocks, and every single thing was shattered into tiny little pieces.

I jumped and shouted for my first win. I moved to the biggest one. Honestly, I was scared. But I was the moon keeper; the destiny of the wolf race hung in the balance, and I was the one who would be their saviour; I couldn’t afford to be weak.

Suddenly, I began to remember my past in Asher’s pack; I decided to channel all that anger into breaking that big pile of bricks.

I decided to pay more concentration, I took in a deep breath, praying to the goddess to help me. I finally landed a hit on the block with everything I had got, but the pile of blocks was still standing. It felt like there was no impact on it.

As I turned to leave out of frustration as my hands were already swollen, I couldn’t afford to hit the block again. I heard a loud sound of bricks collapsing.

I turned to look behind me, and I saw that the pile of blocks had been shattered; surprisingly, the blocks around it, too, had fallen and broken into pieces.

Tears of joy welled up in my eyes; I couldn’t contain it anymore; I let it flow down; the once weak omega was no longer weak; I had the strength, not just any kind of strength that was worth that of ten wolves combined.

Ryker came out clapping for me, I could tell that he was proud of me because of the way he smiled at me. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

He walked over to where I was.

"You did it, Kira", he said, placing his palm on mine.

But I removed his hands because of the pain I was feeling

"I am sorry" he apologised

"It’s fine, I just can’t believe I was able to do it."

"You are stronger than you know, you would probably rise to become the most powerful wolf the world has ever known." He said placing his hands on my cheeks

I blushed.

He began to ask me how I did it as we headed to Emilia so she could find a way to make my hands fine. As we were going I began to feel a tingle on my injured palms.

But I didn’t pay attention to it; I just kept going until we got to Emilia’s. As I brought out my hands forward to get her to examine them, lo and behold, there was nothing on my palms.

Alpha Ryker couldn’t believe his eyes, my hands which had swollen a few minutes ago, but now they had completely healed.

"Oh my goddess", he exclaimed, "I have never seen a wolf heal as fast as this; I have not seen any creature in all my life of existence that heals as fast as this." He said

Emilia, who had noticed this before, wasn’t completely surprised. Then, when I had first come into Ryker’s pack, I had a very bad injury that got healed up by itself; Emilia didn’t do much. I didn’t tell Ryker; I even lied to him the first time he asked if I had started experiencing powers.

"This is unbelievable," he said, staring into my eyes. "How are you feeling?"

I stretched my hands forward, waved my hands clapped, and rubbed my palms together before answering "Good as new" I said smiling

"Then we can go on to continue our training", he said, urging Me to come with him.

"We need to test your other wolf abilities," He said

He took me up to the roof of the palace.

"Why are we here?" I asked

"We are here to test your jumping ability and racing speed. As wolves, we possess superhuman speed and can jump high in both our human and wolf forms—though not as high as vampires."

"So you want me to keep up?" I asked

"Exactly," he said patting my head "You are very smart" he smiled

I blushed.

In front of the palace was a thick forest, making it easier for us to conduct our jumping training. I watched as Ryker leapt from the roof to a nearby tree and then to another. When he reached the third tree, he stopped and beckoned for me to jump.

I was done being scared, so I just took the jump, and to my greatest surprise, I made it, and that was how I began to jump on other trees, following Ryker a few times. He would land on the ground so we could run.

We continued this for a while until I got the hang of it—I became even faster than him.

I stopped abruptly when my hearing caught the sound of a human child around in danger.

"Did you hear that?" I asked Ryker

"Hear what?" He asked

"The cry of a human child," I said, turning around and listening carefully to determine the direction it was coming from.

After listening closely for a while, I finally got a direction. "Over there," I yelled, pointing in the direction.

Ryker and I jumped onto the tree. Just then, I saw the child slip from the mountain. I quickly calculated the distance—there was no way we could reach her in time to prevent her from hitting the ground.

I was confused and saddened. Just then, my eyes turned white, and I did something I never imagined I could do—I used telekinesis to stop the child from falling.

"O my gosh Kira" He exclaimed

"Ryker, can you hear her mother calling for her?" I asked

"Yes I can, leave it to me just make sure you don’t lose her," he said then left to go find the child’s mother

It wasn’t easy—it was a struggle—but I managed to guide her toward me using telekinesis. Shortly after, Ryker arrived with her parents.

The way back to the palace felt so long

"Kira, you just unlocked a new ability", Ryker said, breaking the silence.
