THE RISE OF AN OMEGA-Chapter 31: The vision of War
Kira’s POV
"We heard about the moon keeper, the one who is meant to unite us all" The rogue wolf said, trying to stand on his feet, but he couldn’t. My conscience couldn’t take it any longer I called Emilia to come examine him.
Emilia rushed forward through the horde of warriors surrounding him, ready to attack if he tried anything funny.
"I never thought that I would get to meet you," he said.
"Tell us what you’ve come here to tell us."
"The golden eyes, wolves", he blurted out. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
My eyes widened.
"There’s something about them," he paused, placing his hands on his injured part.
"Yes they are beta wolves, but they are not just your regular kind."
"What do you mean by that" Marcus butted in.
"I mean they are unnatural, they are an abomination, the difference between them and a normal beta wolf is the way their eyes glow"
I knew that there had to be something unnatural about that golden eye I saw back at my house. There was something different about it. It had a very strange aura surrounding it.
"They have the strength of an alpha, they used to be a folktale, no one knew that they still existed until we sighted one in our pack"
"Folktale?"
The rogue wolf nodded.
He coughed out blood.
"We need to treat him now, or else he won’t be able to make it," Emilia said, looking at me, her voice laced with concern.
I looked at Ryker, requesting his permission for him to be treated, and he agreed; just as he was about to be lifted, he fainted.
"What’s wrong with him?" I asked, facing Emilia
"He’s unconscious, he’s lost too much blood," she said
They rushed him to the packed clinic, where Emilia looked after him.
Everywhere suddenly became quiet again. The rogue wolf’s words about the golden-eyed wolf lingered in my heart.
"Now I understand what I felt when the golden wolf appeared in front of me," Ryker said, placing his hands on his jaw.
"Their aura was intimidating right?"
Ryker nodded his head.
"And to think that their strength is equal to that of an alpha?"
I heaved a deep sigh.
"We will win this fight, Ryker," I said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Honestly, even I found it hard to believe what I had just told him; deep down in my heart, I was worried that we might lose. Worried that we all might just die.
As I stood by, watching the warriors practising what I had just taught them, their movements were sharper now, more arranged, and well synchronised. I had pushed them hard, and it was beginning to pay off.
But as I watched them spar, something strange happened. A strange feeling crept through Me. It was like a whisper at the back of my mind, drawing my attention to a different place.
Suddenly, my sight became blurry, my vision went dark at the edges, and all of a sudden, I wasn’t standing in their midst anymore; I wasn’t in the training grounds anymore. I saw warriors, but they weren’t Ryker’s. This warrior moved through the shadows; in front were about three golden eyes shone with strange intensity.
The scent of blood and steel filled the air as they trained ruthlessly; their strikes were lethal. Their movements were meant to kill quickly. I could hear Asher’s voice; it was firm and commanding, giving out orders on a map that showed a detailed description of their territory.
The vision disappeared, and I was back In the training ground; I staggered back; I wasn’t quite sure of what had happened. One minute, I was in Rykers Pack. The next minute, I was in Asher’s now and then back again at Ryker’s.
What just happened?
I felt my shoulder shake; I turned to look and saw Ryker standing next to me; he wore a confused expression on his face. "Kira, are you okay" his voice laced with concern.
I nodded my head gently.
"Where were you all this while it seemed like you were in a trance or something," He said
I didn’t reply, I was still shocked by what had just happened.
"Come on Kira, talk to me" he yelled
I swallowed hard, my breath shaky "I saw them," I whispered. "Asher’s forces, I think I know where they are and what they might be planning"
My hands trembled, as I steadied myself, my heart pounding from the intensity of what I had just seen. The vision was so clear and so real that I could still hear Asher’s voice echoing in my mind. I looked up at Ryker; his hands were still resting on my shoulders.
His expression was a mixture of concern and curiosity.
"They were training," I said, my voice breathless. "They are not just preparing to attack They are perfecting their formations, moving like a single entity. And those golden-eyed wolves, they are different, just as the rogue wolf said, Ryker, they are stronger, faster and more precise."
Ryker’s jaw tightened. "How do you know about all this?" He asked
I exhaled shakily. "I saw them. It wasn’t in a dream, and it wasn’t in my head; I was there, Ryker. I could hear them, I could smell the air around them, see their exact movements."
Ryker’s eyes darkened with realization. "Your Moonkeeper abilities... they seemed to be evolving."
I nodded "Ryker, this is not just a gift but a weapon." I took a step forward. "If I can see their movements, their plans even before they strike" I met Ryker’s gaze, determination replaced the fear etched in my heart. "We can turn this war in our favour"
Ryker hesitated for only a second before nodding his head in agreement. "Then we use it."
Emilia came to where we stood saying that the rogue wolf had woken up and he would like to see me.
I and Ryker followed behind her.
Getting there, we saw them sitting up on the bed; he took a slight bow the moment his eyes rested on me.
"You asked to see me"
"Yes I did"
"Then speak up" Ryker butted in his voice laced with urgency.
"The golden eyes, were the product of a test Asher’s father was running on beta wolves"
I couldn’t believe my ears. Asher’s father did all those things, and no one knew about it, but his father was long gone, which means the golden eye wolves automatically belonged to him.
"You have to be very careful when fighting them," he said
"What else can you tell us about the warriors?"
"That’s all I know about them." He replied.
After a few more questions about Asher’s pack, I was certain that this vision I had was real; it wasn’t some vivid imagination of mine.
I called Marcus and the other three who had helped me to explain the situation of things to them; I told them about my vision so we could brainstorm together on how we were going to move.
Just as we were about to deliberate our move, we began to hear loud howling and growling sounds.
They were here, in Rykers Pack, but I knew better. This couldn’t be the major strike, this could only be the warning strike.
We rushed to the battlefront where some of Ryker’s warriors were. I looked around for the golden eye wolves, but they were nowhere to be found, which gave me confirmation that this wasn’t the major strike.
"This can’t be it" I muttered
"What?" Ryker asked raising his voice amid the battling sound.
"There is no golden eye warrior here, so this wasn’t it, the vision I had has not happened"
Ryker stopped to look around, noticing that what I had said was true.
Shortly after we joined the fight.
The warriors from Asher’s pack were strong, but Ryker’s wolves were stronger now, so it was easy for them to neutralise most of the wolves that came; besides, they were outnumbered.
"Make sure none of them escape," Ryker yelled
I looked around, watching as the battle drew to an end. Just then, I sighted one of Asher’s wolves trying to escape. Immediately, I made him freeze with my moonkeeper powers, and I snapped his neck with my telekinetic powers.
I watched him fall to the ground and die.
Looking around, there was none of Asher’s men left standing; we had won this battle; I hailed the wolves of Ryker’s pack. They had done well even though this wasn’t it; this wasn’t the real fight, but at least they won; it a progress.
I made my way to the centre of the just concluded battle. Seeing as Asher’s men lay lifeless, the ones who still had a little life in them, I snuffed out, leaving no one alive.
But as I did that, I felt something, something more dangerous was coming, and I was sure it had to be the arrival of Asher and his golden eye wolves.
Just then, a Raven came landing on my shoulder; it had a letter on its beak. I took it and it flew off. Opening the letter, my eyes widened in shock at the handwriting, it was Asher’s.
The content of the letter was what was more shocking to me.
