The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 4: Chased
Chapter 4 - Chased
Violet managed to get out of the underground dungeon easily with the help of Emma. These few days, Emma has been navigating around the place to find a seamless escape route.
"By following this path straight, you will enter the forest, and then, it will be easy to get out since it will mask a lot," Emma stated.
Violet nodded.
Just as she was about open her mouth to say something, the sounds of footsteps reached into her ear. Werewolves have sensitive senses, and every werewolf has their unique scent.
Violet's heart clenched tightly.
A frown formed on Emma's face.
"It's the Alpha," Emma commented softly. Unlike Violet whose werewolf abilities were weakened, hers were sharp enough to sense the presence of Matthew.
"He is going to the prison."
Violet's grip on Emma's hand became stronger.
Emma then added, "You, first, run out of the pack, Violet. I will distract him."
This made Violet's eyes widen, and she immediately shook her head.
"No, I can't let you do that for me. Who knows that he would do to you once he finds out? If we run fast enough, we both will be able to get out of the pack," Violet attempted to convince Emma.
Emma patted on Violet's arm and released her hand from the hold. She then shook her and smiled.
"It will be fine, Violet. Don't panic. He won't know for certain I released you so quickly. I will distract him for few minutes and then run out from the pack, alright?"
"No, no," Violet stated, trying to hold on to Emma.
But Emma avoided her. "If you keep on being like this, Luna, it will be bad for both of us. We will get caught."
Without giving Violet a chance to say anything, Emma ran out from there.
No matter how hesitant she was, since Emma had already done this for her, it would only be ungrateful and foolish of her to not go along with the plan.
With careful but hurried steps, Violet ran towards the forest. Her legs were weak, and the tortures left her body aching. Nevertheless, the willpower within her let her rush through forest, not caring about the wounds left on her body by scratching against the trees.
Her feet stumbled against a tree stump, and she fell down, injuring her knee in the process. Enduring her bleeding knee, Violet stood up trembling and carried on forward.
Just as Violet was able to step out of the boundary of the pack, she heard her name being called.
"Violet! Where are you, little mouse? Don't let me catch you or else I will make it more fun for? Now, come out, now, little mouse?"
Hearing Mathew's amused yet enraged tone, a chill traveled down Violet's back. Her steps became more unstable, and she bumped against a tree, falling down once again.
Just as she got up, she realized she was only a few steps out of the pack boundary.
Relief spread through her chest.
She wondered how Emma was faring.
A small smile formed on her face, and she quickly made her way over to the boundary. When she took one step out of the boundary, the heavy presence behind her couldn't be ignored.
"There you are," Mathew voiced out.
Violet turned her to find Mathew standing beside her.
Her unkempt state as she struggled on the last rope of hope gave Mathew a sense of sadistic excitement. Although watching her struggle to survive was fun, thinking about how disobedient she had been made him want to punish her.
Ignoring him, she was about run away when Mathew said, "Aren't you heartless leaving behind your friend like this?"

This gave Violet a bad feeling.
"Bring her over."
In the next instant, Violet saw that Emma was brought over, held by few warrior wolves. Emma's neck was then grabbed by Mathew, and body was held high.
Violet's eyes widened in horror, and she was about to step into the pack in order to save her.
Emma noticed that and stated, "Don't, don't do it, Luna. He won't let go of me even if you come over."
Hearing this, Mathew stated, "What about I make you an oath? You enter the pack, and I will let her go."
An oath was a serious matter in werewolf community. Once made, a werewolf had to abide by them or else the consequences was disastrous. No matter how much of a traitorous wolf Matthew was, even he couldn't resist the power of an oath.
"You let go of her first, and I will enter," Violet said, seeing how Emma was being suffocated.
Mathew abide by her words and set her down on her feet. Then, Emma looked towards Violet and smiled.
Violet's heart sank to the bottom of her stomach when Emma mouthed the words, 'Take good care of yourself.'
The next moment Emma took out a knife and caught the Alpha off guard by stabbing him in the stomach. Following this, she slit her own neck. Blood splashed as she fell on the ground.
"Emma!" she shouted, watching her eyes close.
Instinctively, Violet wanted to run towards her.
But then, Mathew grabbed on to his bleeding stomach and ordered, "Catch her no matter what the cost is."
No matter how heavy Violet's heart felt, she knew she had to get out of here. Emma sacrificed her life for her, and she couldn't let it go to waste.
She vowed to take revenge in her heart as she turned back and ran away.
The warrior wolves held hesitation in their eyes, looking at the Alpha. The land out of the pack was ruled by a powerful rogue leader, and many of the nearby packs did not dare to mess around.
But they remained powerless against Mathew's darkened eyes and the pressure emitted by them, abiding by his orders. They quickly followed after Violet.
