The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 8: Wander Around
Chapter 8 - Wander Around
There was a deep hollowness in her chest when Violet woke up.
Although her consciousness was weak, she could vaguely recall the words left by Sylas. Her mate bond was broken.
She felt her chest crushing at it. However, she knew it was a natural instinct, rather than a manisfestion of the feelings inside her. There was nothing more than pure hatred for him in her heart.
The thirst prompted her to get up from the bed. She opened the door and stepped out of the room cautiously. Lucas told her it was better for her safety to stay inside the room, but assuming that it was two in the morning, she didn't think anyone would be out there.
Violet tiptoed out of the room.
She entered the kitchen slowly. Making as minimal noise as possible, she reached for the water jug and poured the water in the glass. Drinking the water in the glass, she was about to place the glass on the table.
"What are you doing, sneaking around like a mouse?"
Startled by the noise, Violet dropped the glass in her hand. Before the glass could slip down the table, a presence came from behind her and grabbed the glass.
Violet raised her head. The dim lighting allowed her to make out the sharp features of the man. There was a gentle yet intoxicating scent of wine, emitting off of him. Violet took a step back to put distance between them.
"You're here?" Violet said— a little surprised.
"Where else would I be? This is my place." The man sounded a little amused.
"May I ask what your name is?" Violet questioned.
"You wouldn't need to know that. Why don't you go to bed now?"
Although the man's voice was calm, Violet understood that he didn't wish to carry on the conversation with her.
This was his place after all.
He probably didn't like her wandering around.
Violet nodded her head, about to leave when she thought about something.
"How did you know earlier that my mate broke his bond with me?" Violet asked.
"I have seen a lot," he vaguely answered.
There was something about this man in front of her that make her curious, but her instincts warned her he was dangerous. She shouldn't probably get involved with him further.

"I warned you about not letting her wander around," Sylas's intimidating voice fell.
The pressure let out by him was enough to weaken Lydia's knees. Although she wanted to hold out, her knees caved in, and she fell on her knees.
Lucas standing beside her grew alert and wanted to support her, but seeing how the Alpha was truly angry, he didn't dare to move.
"Alpha, it wouldn't be good for her health if she stayed in the room all the time. She would be depressed," Lydia tried to explain.
However, Sylas's sharp eyes let her know he didn't buy that.
"I think you forgot about the punishment for disobeying my orders." Sylas's words were cold.
Pushing away his fears, Lucas stepped forward to stand in front of Lydia. He then stated, "Alpha, this is all my fault. I was the one who took Violet out. If anyone should be punished, that's me."
Lydia grabbed on to the corner of his t-shirt, trying to pull him away. "This has nothing to do with you. I will receive the punishment, Alpha."
Lucas glared at Lydia in discontentment. "Shut up!"
Then, looking back at the Alpha with his head lowered, he said, "Alpha, I know I have crossed the line. I apologize."
"Since you are that eager to get punished, you can receive it in her place. This ought to make her not act out again," Sylas voiced out.
Lydia was about to open her mouth to say something, but Lucas grabbed her by her hand to make her stand up. He placed his palm on her mouth to cover her mouth.
Her eyes widened at his crude method. As she tried to struggle and speak, he dragged her out of there against his will.
"Come out. How long are you going to be watching?" Sylas's eyes fell on the pillar.
Violet slowly peeked her head out from behind the pillar before stepping out. Sylas's tone and actions from earlier left behind nervousness within her.
"I, uh, must have really inconvenienced you by staying here. I apologize. I will try to get well and get out of here as soon as possible. I promise. Don't punish anyone because of me. I will not leave the room anymore. I just left the room because I felt a little suffocated. I won't anymore."
Violet's stuttered out— her voice getting smaller and smaller as Sylas stepped forward, narrowing the distance between them. Her hands curled around her dress tightly as her heart pounded against her chest.
"So timid. Are you sure you have Alpha blood running in you?" Sylas inquired.
Realizing that Sylas was making fun of her, Violet found her majesty being challenged. Lifting her head high, she attempt to stabilize her voice, saying, "I am not timid, and I have Alpha blood running in me."
"Then, live up to it," Sylas said.
Following this, the man turned her back on her, about to walk away. Before she knew it, Violet's hand extended forward, and she held on to the corner of his shirt, stopping him.

Sylas turned his head, looking at her. Although there was no extra expression on his face, those deep eyes made her realize he didn't like this.
She instantly let go of him.
"Uhm, so should I stay in the room all the time?" Violet carefully asked, testing the man's attitude.
Sylas's eyes paused on her face for a second before responding, "Keep in mind that no matter how safe the surroundings look, it can get dangerous any time."
"And you won't punish anyone for it?" Violet probed.
Sylas nodded.
The corner of her lips curled up, and a wide grin bloomed on her face.
