Chapter 376: The Departure

After the party, the Van der Aarts and Jorgensens didn’t leave each other’s side and spent the few remaining days laughing, eating, and playing different games in Hera’s house. Something that they will cherish for the rest of their lives but Elsa will not remember any of it.

When the day arrived for Elsa, Nathan, and Rocco to leave, everyone gathered at Hera’s house for their final farewell. As planned, Marina left first, saying she didn’t want to witness Elsa leaving. Early in the morning, after receiving approval from King Tyrion and Queen Ydril, she crossed the portal in secret while, Elandir stayed at Hera’s house, spending time with Elsa before her departure.

Everyone tried to smile in front of Elsa not wanting to make her sad since they were sure that she and Christopher felt worse than just being sad. Even Chris tried to seal his real feelings. He wanted happiness to be her last emotion before she crossed the portal.

That was not true for Hera and Valeria for their tears won’t stop falling. Chris and Elsa went first to the Tree of Life before meeting everyone in the Portal.

Elsa felt really sad but she did a good job of masking it and so was Chris. They didn’t want to burden each other with their sorrowful emotions.

As everyone says their last goodbye to Elsa and Rocco, Nathan walks to King Tyrion and Queen Ydril. He bowed as he greeted them. "Thank you so much for taking care of Hera, Elsa, and Rocco while I was away. I am forever indebted to you and Qiryn."

The King and Queen smiled and King Tyrion said, "Your girls and grandson are very lovable, no one would dare not to help them. It is us who should thank you for bringing them to our lives. Because of them, Qiryn’s door is open to everyone once again. Plus, it has been a long time since we held a baby in our arms. We will surely miss the little prince."

"Thank you, King Tyrion. Then let me at least try to help you with that." Nathan placed his hand on Queen Ydril’s lower abdomen without warming. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

The Queen jolted a bit but soon squinted her eyes. "What did you do? It’s warm," she asked.

"I just used the last of my healing power that came from the sleeping mages as a thank you for your genuine kindness. You’ll soon find out what’s the result. But don’t fret, I will be able to recover some of my power in time. Take care of your health, My Queen," Nathan said before placing a kiss on the back of Queen Ydril’s hand.

He then joined Elsa and Chris and said, "It’s time."

Elsa stood frozen on her spot staring at Chris. Soon she handed Rocco over to her father.

Hera quickly hugged Rocco and Nathan not wasting any second that they were still together.

Elsa almost jumped at Chris throwing her arms around his neck, hugging him tight. "I love you so so much. I will look forward to the day that we will see each other again."

Chris sighed and gently pushed her back to give her one last kiss.

"Take care of yourself, my love. You will always occupy the biggest part of my heart together with our children. I will only love you. Please always be safe."

Chris couldn’t help it so he kissed her once more. This time it was deeper and more passionate, not caring about the people watching them.

Elsa’s tears fell, as their lips let each other feel how much love they have for one another. But everything must come to an end as they let each other go.

Nathan extended his hand to Elsa and when she took it, he stepped into the portal bringing Elsa and Rocco with him. With a blink of an eye, they were gone.

Hera and Valeria slumped on the ground and wailed loudly as if someone had died bringing tears to everyone present.

Allister staggered but Andrius was able to catch him on time. Arla, Rylie, and Lexi sobbed their hearts out in the arms of their spouses, who were also crying like them.

Even Chris’ elite alphas couldn’t contain their tears when they saw their King staring at the portal emotionless and his eyes were lifeless.

Neia wrapped her arms around one of his arms and rested her head on his shoulder. "Brother, let’s go home. I will stay with you for as long as you like. Let’s spend time, eat delicious food, and goof around like the old times, okay?"

Chris kept silent for a while but when he spoke, he said, "She’s gone... They’re gone... I don’t feel her anymore. Our bond has been cut."

"Oh, brother..." Neia hugged Chris as she cried.

But Chris didn’t even move a finger. He just stood still staring at the portal.

After some time everyone got tired of crying and eventually stopped. Stefan and Elandir both patted Chris on each of his shoulders but he didn’t even flinch and kept his gaze on the portal.

It was Elandir who spoke first. "Chris, I need to help Andrius and Drake bring Hera home since they will also help Allister and Valeria. Both women don’t look great, I’m afraid something bad might happen to them."

"Go ahead," Chris tersely replied.

Stefan came in next. "Christopher, I’ll bring your sister to An’owyn so she can rest. She’s been crying for hours, as so as everyone."

"Bring her home, Stefan. Bring her to Vrenada. I’ll be fine on my own. I need some time to be alone."

Stefan sighed and replied, "I understand. We will visit you soon."

Everyone left except for Chris and his elite alphas. They refused to leave him alone for it is the time that he needs them the most. They will not turn their back to their King even if they need to camp there for days.

They promised their Queen and little Prince that they would take care of him and keep him safe as long as they lived, and that’s what will they do starting today.
