Chapter 382: Choose Wisely

"You’re not playing with me, right? But if you are, I’m not interested. I just want to die, leave me alone," Chris told the goddess. He doesn’t care anymore if the goddess gets angry at him for sounding disrespectful, he will die soon anyway so who cares how his tone sounded?

"Listen and you decide if I am serious or not. Everything is up to you."

"Fine... Fire away..." Chris said weakly.

"As I said earlier, I will give you three choices and you have three days to decide.

First option: I will heal your wolf from the effects of hecatolite, but your memories of your wife and son will be erased. I will give you another mate, a werewolf mate so that you can continue your life in Arcanis once again. You will be able to bear a werewolf heir who will inherit your throne. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Second option: I will heal your wolf and I will also give you a chance to see your wife and children once last time. However, you must return before the next full moon or your wolf and you will surely die.

Once you are back in Arcanis after the next full moon, you must pick a chosen mate to become your Queen so you can produce an heir with her to pass on not only the throne but also your true alpha blood.

Chris scoffed at the choices that the goddess was giving him. Both did not interest him since he has no plan of having another woman in his remaining life, he would rather die than choose. However, if there is a way to save his wolf without marrying anyone then he would be happy to take that.

"But before you decline or choose, allow me to give you a gift. Let me show you how Elsa is doing in the world where she was born." The goddess then showed Chris a vision of Elsa in Novus.

"Look at your mate, werewolf. She’s now a renowned surgeon in her world and is living a perfectly happy life with suitors left and right. She has no recollection of you and the life that she had lived here.

Don’t you want to be happy too? Her beauty and skills in the world she’s in never go unseen. Sooner or later she will re-marry again and will have her own family. Don’t you want that kind of happiness for yourself?

You are the last of your true alpha blood, if you die now, that would end your bloodline, isn’t that selfish? You are setting your kingdom to fail. Choosing a Queen and producing an heir with her doesn’t mean you have to be both in love and you know it. Choose wisely, King of Arcanis."

"Enough! I said I want to die, I don’t want to hear anything from you anymore!" Chris yelled after rage filled his whole body. Just imagining Elsa with another man made his blood boil.

"Calm down, werewolf. You haven’t heard the third choice," the goddess continued.

"Third option: I will cut your tie with your wolf and take him from you and you will become a mortal. I will send you to a random place in Novus. It will be up to you if you want to find Elsa.

However, once you find her, you cannot tell her who you are or else you will die. Her memories will come back, only hurting her with your death.

Do you want to ruin the perfect life that she had created for herself? If you truly love your mate, let fate do its work. Trust your destiny. Everything will fall into its own place.

You have three days..."

The glow on Chris’ body disappeared and Elandir shook him gently, trying to wake him up.

"Christopher! Chris! Please wake up!" Elandir called out.

"Shut up, your voice is hurting my ears. I’m still alive so stop shaking me, you’re making me dizzy," Chris responded in a low tone.

Elandir was just too happy to hear him speak again. He pulled him up and gave him a hug so tight it made Chris cough.

"So the goddess gave you a second chance? Are you healed?" he then fired him with questions.

"Not really. She didn’t heal me but perhaps she just gave me some strength so I can decide after three days."

"What did she demand from you?"

"Forget about what she demanded from me, tell me what did you take for you to have a death wish? Was being a King of Qiryn too much for you to handle that’s why you threaten the goddess and the Tree of Life?"

They both stare at each other and soon burst into laughter.

"Yeah, I did that. Well, I have no choice plus I don’t mind dying at all. My life is meaningless without Marina."

Chris scoffed and said, "And you think my life isn’t the same without Elsa? It’s not that I don’t appreciate what you did but I have no will to leave with my family with me. The options that the goddess gave me are all trash."

"So what is your plan now?"

"Bring me back to Arcanis so I can think clearly. She gave me three days to decide."

Elandir nodded and helped Chris walk out from the Tree of Life. They were welcomed by the worried Hoven, whose face could not be painted after seeing Chris walk out of the tree alive but still pale and weak.

"Did it work? You still don’t look well," Hoven asked as he approached the two to help Chris walk.

"I am given three choices and I must choose after three days. And honestly, I feel like not choosing anything. The goddess allowed me to take a glimpse of Elsa now in Novus. She looks really happy and content. I could not ask for more."

"How about Rocco and your twins? Did you see them? What are the genders of your twins?" Hoven asked enthusiastically.

Chris pulled his hands into fists as he tried to control his emotions. He felt a bitter taste at the back of his throat and his heart was beating at an unusual pace. The goddess did not show his children, only Elsa.

Now that Hoven had mentioned them, his curiosity was piqued and the longing in his heart that he had buried resurfaced once more. He wanted to see his children, he wanted to hug them, and he wanted to watch them grow up.

’My love, what should I do?’ he said to himself.

[Go to them, you idiot. Why are you still thinking and not deciding?] Yakobo voiced out making Chris’ tears suddenly fall. He had not heard Yakobo speak ever since they arrived in Vrenada. He could only feel him weak and in pain and hearing him speak now made him happy but also confused about what decision he should make.
