The Royal Mark-Chapter 383: Yakobo’s Wisdom
’How can I go to them when the cost of my happiness is your life? I can’t... I really can’t...’ Chris replied to Yakobo.
[Argh... I’m too tired... Let’s talk again later...] Yakobo had completely shut him off once again but he didn’t push him anymore since he knows what his wolf is going through.
Somehow he agrees with him as well. He also needs time to think. All three choices from the goddess have their pros and cons and he doesn’t know what to choose.
"Are you alright? Are you in pain?" Hoven asked worriedly when Chris suddenly cried without answering his question.
Chris wiped his tears and said, "I’m fine."
"Then why are you crying?"
"It’s my wolf, he told me to choose the goddess’ third option."
Hoven and Elandir glanced at each other with meaningful looks. Chris hasn’t told them what are his choices and his tears just made them more curious about it.
"What are your options, Chris? Please tell us, we are dying to know. Just so you know, you don’t have a choice but to let us know because we are not going to stop asking you. So better tell us now," Elandir demanded.
Chris perfectly knows that Elandir and Hoven will do just that so either way he has no choice but to inform them and perhaps they could enlighten him on which he should choose.
"First was, I will be healed by memories of my family will be erased. I will be given a werewolf mate so I can continue my life as the King of Arcanis. Second was, I would be healed, and I get a chance to see my family until the next full moon. If I stay there I will die. When I get back I need to find a chosen mate, produce an heir, and continue my life in Arcanis as its King.
Third, my wolf and I will be separated and I will become a mortal. I will be sent to Novus and it’s up to me if I will find Elsa or not. If I decided to find her, I could not introduce myself or I would die and her memories would come back only to mourn for my death."
Hoven and Elandir were speechless. If they were in Chris’ shoes they would also feel the same. And even as a friend, they didn’t even know what to advise him for the choices were so complicated. The goddess is basically asking him to choose between his wolf and family which they think is not fair for Chris.
"I don’t know what to say, Chris. That sucks!" Elandir said.
"I know. But I will think about it. For now, can you port us back to Arcanis? I have three days to think and I want to do it in the comfort of my own home," Chris informed Elandir.
"Alright, I also think that it is the best decision for now. I will come and get you after three days. And Chris, please remember that whatever you decide, I will support you and will not judge you. You can count on me."
"Same with me. No judgment. I cannot even imagine myself going through your situation. So whatever you choose, we know that it was not easy for you to do it and you had calculated every risk. We will always be here to support you, Chris," Hoven said.
Chris smirked a little. Even though his heart was hurting for his family, he at least had his friends by his side who were always ready to uplift his mood and pull his mind back on track.
"Thank you. I know that I can always count on you," Chris uttered.
"Alright, let’s not waste any more time. You have a lot of thinking to do." Elandir threw the portal stone and signaled for Hoven and Chris when it was time for them to cross.
The portal brought them straight to Chris’ room. Hoven helped Chris settle on his bed for he appeared very weak and tired still.
"I will send a messenger to Vrenada so they will know what happened," Hoven mentioned before turning around, but Chris stopped him.
"Wait, Hoven. Please also send a separate letter to Stefan and Neia. Apologize on my behalf and tell them that I need them here. In case I decide to choose the third option or not choose anything, I want to say goodbye to them properly."
"Alright, I will do that. Please rest for now. I will send servants later to bring your food."
When Hoven left his room, Yakobo cleared his throat, making his presence known.
[I want you to choose the third option, Christopher.]
’No way. I am not going to let you die. If you will die, then I will die with you!’
[Did the goddess specifically tell you that I will die? No, she didn’t. She said she would cut our tie and take me away from you. I also don’t know what it exactly means but I am sure she will not kill me or let me die.
That is why I want you to take it. Perhaps she will transfer me to someone else or give me a new life, we don’t know. But I am certain that I will not perish, I can feel it in my guts.]
’We don’t know that. The goddess is very cunning and I don’t want to take chances.’
[But I do! I cannot let Elsa and the children have another man in their life than you. Also, I would rather die than forget about them. So if there’s another chance of being with her then take it. You don’t have to inform her of who you are, but you can shove away every man that will come near her, you can guard her if you take the third option.
Work for her if you need to or be his best friend. All you need to do is shut your mouth and do everything that you can so that no man will take her. All that matters is that you are there for her and for the kids. You can take care of them as they grow up.
The goddess only forbade you to inform her of who you are but she did not forbid you from making her fall in love with you again. Why don’t you just do that? Knowing that you have a chance to be together with them again would already make me happy and content.
And if being apart from you is the cost of it, then so be it. I will be fine, Christopher. I will be fine...]
Chris was so touched by Yakobo’s words that he couldn’t help but shed tears again. Apparently, he doesn’t need advice from anyone. His wolf already has the answer to all of his questions.
