Chapter 55: Fighting is bad, let’s shake out hands

"Areum..."

Han Kakta called out to him cautiously, perhaps worried he was also angry at him for pushing him into the gate. But since that was Kihyun controlling him, Cheon Areum had no reason to be mad at Han Kakta for it. He went there with a soft heart—that’s why he couldn’t dodge it. If Cheon Areum could go back to that scene, he would kill him without a second thought, because that was the original. Now, they didn’t even know if Kihyun’s original would ever show up in front of them, or if it would only ever be his clones.

"Sit down and eat. Why would Yoon Seoyul fire you when I’m the one who invited him?"

"You said it. If I get fired, I’m going to come back and haunt you for this."

Inho sat down opposite them last, as Cheon Areum was already sitting next to Han Kakta and smiling at him.

"Are you okay? Did he do something to you inside the gate?"

"What can he do to me? He’s no match for me."

It’s not like he wanted to brag in front of Han Kakta or avoid making him worry about him. Cheon Areum truly believed he was stronger than Kihyun—that’s why he wasn’t afraid of him, just annoyed by the fact that he was still lingering around freely.

"That’s good, then."

Han Kakta nodded, relieved. The plates on his tray were already empty; he must’ve waited a long time for Cheon Areum to come.

"What about Yoon Seoyul? Did he tell you why he’s not talking to me?"

Cheon Areum took a sip of the seaweed soup for a taste test. It wasn’t as good as the one Yoon Seoyul cooked for him, but it would do.

"The silent treatment is way worse! I would rather get punched by him or whatever! Tell him I will apologize to him, so can he at least pick up my calls?"

"I already tried to appeal for your innocence. It didn’t really work..."

Perhaps if he shed a few tears—no, Yoon Seoyul would finally block Kakta if that happened.

"He’s never acted this way before. I have no idea what to do..."

"You want to talk to him, right? Preferably face to face?"

"Yes."

"Then wait for a few more minutes. He will come here in a bit."

If Yoon Seoyul truly stuck to his words and viewed the security footage, he would see him with Han Kakta and come running down on his own—whether he wanted to come face to face with Han Kakta or not. Cheon Areum finished his bowl of seaweed soup and stared at him, wanting more. He was going to ask Inho to get it for him, but Han Kakta quietly got another bowl full of seaweed soup for him.

"Are you low on energy? I can give you some..."

Han Kakta showed his palm to him to touch if he wanted energy, but Cheon Areum shook his head. His core couldn’t take more ups and downs—it already hurt a bit, and if he filled it with more energy from Kakta, it might crack further from the sudden fill.

They waited a few more minutes. Inho, who had finished eating too, had to go back now because lunch break was almost over. Cheon Areum was starting to think Yoon Seoyul might have forgotten about him, engrossed in his work, when someone pressed on the space between his wings.

A large shadow loomed over Cheon Areum. He didn’t have to guess before he saw Yoon Seoyul’s arms come down on the table on both sides of him. He was easily overshadowed by Yoon Seoyul like this. He affectionately wrapped his wings around Yoon Seoyul’s arms from outward.

"Are you done eating?"

"Master."

Inho immediately called out and was about to get up when Yoon Seoyul glanced at him.

"Don’t bother with me. Enjoy your meal."

He said it to Inho, but it felt more directed to Han Kakta, who was sitting beside Cheon Areum—his view obstructed now, though.

"I still have some leftovers," Cheon Areum replied to his question in a low voice.

Yoon Seoyul had probably seen him with Han Kakta and come down, but it’s not like Cheon Areum couldn’t eat with Han Kakta, so he had nothing to say on that matter.

"Hmm. Eat slowly and take your time."

Gazing down at him, Yoon Seoyul pressed a kiss on top of his head, on his hair, as he spoke.

"Why don’t you join us? You shouldn’t be skipping lunch."

"I will eat later."

Cheon Areum intentionally stalled for time, but Han Kakta made no moves to talk to Yoon Seoyul, whose eyes were fixed on Cheon Areum only. Too kind for his own good, Han Kakta actually let him eat peacefully before stopping Yoon Seoyul, who was about to leave with him.

"Seoyul, I want to talk with you."

Standing in front of Yoon Seoyul to block his path, Han Kakta asked him as if he were asking for a favor. Cheon Areum wrapped both arms around Yoon Seoyul’s right arm, clinging to him in case he wanted to flee. Seeing how Yoon Seoyul still didn’t talk to him, Han Kakta became more frustrated.

"Stop ignoring me! I know you entrusted me with Cheon Areum, but I really didn’t do it on purpose. By the time I could control my body, he had already taken Cheon Areum with him inside the gate."

"I already know that, Kakta. Just stay away from us for the time being. Don’t even try to get close to Cheon Areum—it’s for your own good. We have nothing to discuss. We’ll talk when there’s something to talk about."

Cheon Areum, who had been busy hiding his face and rubbing it against Yoon Seoyul’s arm as he clung to it, heard the response and immediately revealed his face. Before anyone could speak again, he spoke out with urgency.

"But I want to be close with him!"

The heads of the people involved—and uninvolved—all turned to Cheon Areum. Han Kakta seemed surprised to hear it; he blinked once at Cheon Areum, and Yoon Seoyul cut the connection.

"There’s no need for that either. Kakta, if you stick around him, he will just become reckless because he has you to refill his energy. He doesn’t need any more recharges, because he won’t be participating in anything that requires him to use his energy."

"..."

Nothing at all?

While it was true that, with his core like this, he couldn’t use his energy at all right now, the way Yoon Seoyul said it... it felt like he was crippled—like he would never become a hunter again.

"Take that back."
