Chapter 30: After Dusk, The Moon Reigns

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in the endless darkness. Had I just imagined opening them, or was I transported into the abyss? Well, no, but at the same time, I was.

I jumped out of my so-called bed and got up on my feet in seconds. I started to breathe heavily, as I realized what had happened.

'Quit staring at people while they're sleeping.' I said annoyed while I slowly sat down due to the lack of blood pressure.

"I was just seeing how much you were going to oversleep." Indeed, this darkness had been in this guy's eyes all this time. "You sure sleep a lot, even in the worst conditions." This comment made me frown. It looked like I was waking up on the wrong side of the bed today.

'A king has to get his beauty sleep.' I then stopped as I realized what I had just said. I just knew how stupid and delusional that sounded.

New novel 𝓬hapters are published on ƒreewebɳovel.com.

"You, king?" He said while laughing his heart out. "Maybe the king of worms" He swiped the tears from his eyes as he tried to act serious. "Exploring is calling my name today, what is calling yours?"

I rubbed my arms which were red from all that moving around while I was asleep, and with a sincere manner I said 'The bathroom.' I need to stop saying whatever comes to my mind.

After my unusual response, I stared at him while Dusk slowly removed himself from the room leaving me and my shame all alone.

But this did give me a good question. 'What do I want to do, or what can I do?' This is a question everyone faces on an everyday basis, but in some cases, it can mean more than it seems.

The obvious answer was to leave this place, but that was easier than said, after all, I was hardly able to even run from that giant, but win against it.

I could use my passive to try to gather some followers, but I have no idea if anyone here still hopes for salvation, or if all of them have given up on their life.

[King of the Forgotten Army]- After your army got annihilated by The Great Hero, you wander through worlds, trying to find yourself some new men to follow your orders. To recreate your army. This passive makes people more inclined to either make you the leader of a group or to join your group more easily.

The description is too vague, it doesn't specify the need for this to happen, and it doesn't say what this inclination means. If it is just that people like me more, or if they would just kneel in front of me.

Does it continue to rise as time goes on, or is it a constant force? Does it work on the brain or the heart of others? Does it target their feelings or reason?

Well, I guess I could come to a conclusion for the last question through what I know. It is more likely for the answer to be feelings, as The Core uses them quite a lot, so it wouldn't be a surprise if this passive also uses them.

I also don't think its power would make people kneel, as passives aren't usually that strong, maybe if it was a skill but even that wouldn't work [Kings Authority] is the perfect example.

Skills are stronger than passives, but only at a high level. Passives don't have drawbacks like skills have. But obtaining a passive is also easier than obtaining a skill, as meanwhile for skills you can only gain from your beast. You can craft your own passive in The Core.

But enough of that, I made my decision.

...

I followed the darkness, walking in their shadow as whispers and laughs echoed through my ears. The fresh air outside had a nice taste, and the smell of food made me want to go to the bathroom even more. I had decided to also explore the town.

The town was broken into five parts, an industrial zone, an entertainment zone, and a residential zone. This was pretty impressive to do in such a short time, but I guess after accepting really, there is no other thing to do than try to make yourself at home in your new world.

Well, it wasn't anything that exceptional, but it was still amazing. Makes you wonder how many lives they lost getting all these materials. Were the walls of this town stained by the blood of who they were gathered by?

My eyes wondered endlessly to one building to another, trying to see what kind of story they were ready to tell. Was it a happy story, or a sad story that would make you want revenge?

It's sad to think that many people don't have a way to share their story when they die, no way for others to know what happened, as the only ones there to notice them are unable to speak their hearts off. I turned to the abyss and decided to finally make my motive for exploring clear.

'Hey Dusk, what do you think about our situation... what do you think we should do.' I said trying another opinion that could make me rethink my answer to my dilemma even for a second.

"What do I think? Just forget it, telling you is pointless." He said jokingly but then switched to a serious manner. "If your mind is set on this and you really think it's what we should do...I'll be the first to stay by your side."

I see, well that calms my soul a little. 'Even so, the two of us can't fight the world.'

He turned to me, his gaze radiating confidence. "Then we'll make the world follow us."

But was that really possible? Even with my passive, who would follow two delusional kids whose pride is open for The Core to take? Who would follow two lions in a sea of hyenas?
