The SSS Beast King: Rebirth of the Legendary Predator-Chapter 34: For Dusk, The Moon Fades
Chapter 34: For Dusk, The Moon Fades
Dusk's attack had been very effective but, at the same time, disappointing. It had pierced the hard skin and ripped through the endless muscle, but that was about it. You would expect that crazy of an attack to penetrate completely. However, I can't complain, my strongest attack did even less damage.
If before the beast had only let out a scream, this time it was prepared to fight back. I punched its chest like a gorilla and screamed constantly. However, this time, I covered my ears.
With every second, the ground shook more and more until the floor started to crack right beneath my feet. 'How lucky you are to be up right now!'
But to hell if I was going to let this continue. Now that it was close enough, I drew out some daggers, and with [King Authority], I gave them enough acceleration to pierce the skin, even if it was for a few centimeters. But what was I going to use this for?
With the cold air blowing from behind, directly in my spine, I ran to where the first dagger hit. I jumped on it and then grabbed the next with my hand. Seeing this, the giant started shaking its leg, trying to get me off. But I held on and climbed on the daggers.
I could feel my muscles burning, and I was sure I could smell smoke, but that was just my imagination. My legs were all tensed, leaving me worried about a cramp, which would lead to my death.
After climbing to its chest, I grabbed the next pair of daggers and used them to continue climbing. It was as if I was climbing a monster. But then the first obstacle came. With the beast still using its skill, I couldn't get past its hand, which kept slamming into its chest.
I tried to think, but then my arm gave in to the fatigue, and I was forced into a slow descent on the daggers as the giant continued shaking to get me off. I clung to its body, but this was taking a lot of energy out of me. When I reached the ground, I was prepared to dodge an attack, but as I looked up, it was too preoccupied with Dusk.
This was the perfect chance. I grabbed the sharpest dagger, but this time, I couldn't maintain the flame, so I was stuck to just the purple aura, a weaker variant of my last attack.
To make it worse, with my muscles worn down, my throw didn't have that much strength behind it, so there was a low chance of even hitting the beast.
It had been a dumb plan to climb up, the worst one in a while. Now, thinking of it, I can see that the flaws override the boons, making it not worth my energy. But you could say I was blinded by the thought of succeeding.
As I released the attack, an eerie sound traveled alongside it, but when I looked to see what had happened, I was faced with the harsh reality.
I had missed it.
This was one of the worst feelings, it was like I let Dusk down... like I let myself down. I clenched my fist and frowned, going to pick up the dagger. I turned my head up to see what the abyss was doing.

However, he was nowhere to be seen. He wasn't anywhere on the giant's upper body. Had he been eaten, and was it my fault? Had I not done enough on my part? Did I disappoint?
I swallowed, thinking about the most horrific thing that could have happened. 'Though, if Dusk had died, why wasn't it going after me?'
This question bothered me. If there was no lion to distract him from the dog that was biting him little by little, why not go after it? Was the darkness not destroyed by the light? Was he still alive? But where?
Did he descend? But I don't think his pride would let him abandon this fight. I knew this because I didn't want to leave my spot either. Even now that I was about to fight it one on one.
Then I realized something when I looked a little below. The beast was raising its feet in a crushing motion. And when I looked to see what it wanted to crush, it was none other than a hurt Dusk.
So he probably got knocked to the ground. This meant he didn't abandon this pride and leave. But still, this didn't change the fact that he was about to die.
'Dusk!' I shouted while my feet sprung in the air. Truthfully, I didn't know why I was running, and how I was running so fast.
It felt like my own body was controlled by a divine being like how humans do whenever they play those things they call video games. If I get out of here alive I'll have to try one.
Even with my sudden and uncontrollable decision to try to save Dusk, I was quickly slowing down due to fatigue from earlier. It had returned and in the worst moment possible.
This fatigue made me not feel my legs when I ran, but it didn't stop me. Hell, with the thought of being defeated by fatigue, my body accelerated.
As the beast was about to crush Dusk's body, I plunged in his direction. In the air it felt like time slowed down, but why? Why was everything so slow all of a sudden?
I felt relieved when I saw that I was just in time to push Dusk out of the attack. And now my mind is clear. Clear enough to see the deadly mistake I had just made. I looked up and saw that I was directly under the descending attack.
I looked over at Dusk, who now had a more terrified look than whenever he was about to die.
I tried to get back on my feet, but I collapsed due to the fatigue I ignored earlier. I saw how my shadow was devoured by that of the foot of the beast.
Then... everything went dark.
[You have died.]
