The Unveiling of Secret Queen-Chapter 1351: Candice Yancey’s Birthday
Amadeus Yancey walked up to Nathalie Quinlan, placed one of the plates in front of her, and naturally said, seemingly having overheard their chat earlier, "I’ll take you there."
Nathalie looked at the plate set before her, with a freshly made sandwich inside, which looked quite appealing.
She picked up the sandwich, took a bite, and found the taste matched its appearance—it was indeed quite good. Having gone to bed at three in the morning, her restless mood from a sleepless night eased considerably. Her brows relaxed, no longer as stern as before, her shoulder loosened, and she lazily responded with a "Mmm."
Amadeus noticed her yawning, her eyes slightly red at the corners, and knew she had stayed up all night.
Seeing her earnestly eating, he reached out to push the milk cup closer and said softly, "Eat slowly, have some milk to ease it down."
Nathalie: "..."
She squinted her eyes slightly, stared at the milk cup pushed in front of herself by someone, frowned a bit, pursed her lips, and reluctantly lifted it, taking a small sip.
Seeing her struggle with drinking milk as though going to the battlefield, Amadeus chuckled silently, pulled out the chair next to her, and sat down as if remembering something: "My aunt invited you to lunch; are you coming?"
"This noon?"
Nathalie took a sip of milk and found he hadn’t added sugar, so the milk wasn’t as sweet as she had imagined, and she resisted less.
She listened to him while having breakfast, rather nonchalantly.
Amadeus was used to her somewhat indifferent mood when she hadn’t slept enough. He reached out to gather her falling hair behind her ear with care, withdrew his cool fingertips, and said unhurriedly, "Yeah, it’s her birthday today; she didn’t want a big fuss, just booked a private room at the Imperial Hotel for a family meal. She asked me to check with you, if you’re available?"
Quite a few people were coming around noon, not just the direct-line descent of the Yancey Family, but some other people with some relative connections to the family.
Candice Yancey already considers Nathalie a part of the Yancey Family, and she wants Nathalie to come since even the branches of the family would attend, so she can boast a bit about her niece-in-law.
However, Amadeus knew Nathalie’s character well, not one to enjoy crowded places; with so many people at noon, he worried she’d be uncomfortable.
Hence, when Candice mentioned bringing Nathalie for lunch, he didn’t agree right away.
He still wanted to ask Nathalie’s opinion, to see if she was willing to go.
Nathalie stopped eating, her cold white hand supporting her chin, seemingly contemplating whether she wanted to go.
Amadeus didn’t rush her, fully respecting her decision, and explained clearly, "Though my aunt’s birthday this year isn’t a grand affair, it’s just a family meal, there’ll be quite a number of people at noon. Many of whom you probably haven’t met before. Apart from Edric and the old man, some others are attending too."
Sadam Vinson promptly raised his hand and said, "Nathalie, I’m going too."
He chimed in with a grin, "Go on~ at least we know each other. Worst case, hang out with me; I’ll look after you. Amadeus is there too, nothing to worry."
Nathalie smacked her lips, tempted to say, fearing just the fact they’d be there.
But after thinking through, realizing today is Candice’s birthday, and being invited by her, she hesitated for a moment then said, "What time at noon?"
"Twelve," Amadeus, fearing she hadn’t listened carefully about where earlier, repeated, "At the Imperial Hotel."
"OK." Nathalie nodded, quite promptly acknowledging, "I’ll be there right at twelve."
