The Villain's Story-Chapter 725: Fire dragon in the sea?!
Elijah woke up abruptly, startled as the piercing sound of the sirens struck his sensitive ears. The blinking red lights were proof something had happened to the vessel.
"Shit."
He cursed, equipping his armor and weapons from his system and exiting his cabin. The ship was shaking, and it was hard to gain his balance.
If he was fully refreshed perhaps this wouldn't have posed an issue, alas, the dark circles under his eyes were enough proof that he had been far too busy these days. The voice in the intercom scraped in his ears.
"ALERT! AQUATIC THREAT. ALL AWAKENED ARE REQUESTED TO ASSIST ON DECK."
'Billions of studs and they couldn't afford a good speaker system...'
Billions of studs had went into the development of this darned ship... And facilities were still lacking. He knew it wasn't corruption, Harrison wouldn't have allowed that at all, rather, most of the money had been spent on the metals that comprised the ship.
He sighed as he reached the deck. His cabin was already extremely close, something that was planned. In fact, the cabins of all the higher ranked awakened were concentrated close to the deck or deep below. In order to respond quickly to threats.
The nauseating smell of the sea on Gigantia assaulted his nose. He was the only one who was experiencing this, however. Turns out being a fire dragon and being this close to the sea for so many days was not an enjoyable experience.
Elijah was constantly tired and he hated how weak he felt here. It was the first time he had begun to curse so much. The sea was having an effect on him, one that was hardly tolerable.
It was the middle of the night in Gigantia, it's moons were hidden above the blanket of dark clouds and thus an impenetrable darkness surrounded the vessel. Light producing artifacts or not, this darkness was special.
It encroached upon the vessel and many awakened had to propel their mana to keep it at bay. Whatever light was on the vessel was meager compared to the darkness beyond.
It was as if they were looking at the maw of a giant beast. In fact, if not for the sharp winds many would have thought they had already been swallowed by some abominable deep sea terror.
Elijah took a deep breath, holding his vomit back as he unleashed his manager and fought off the darkness alone. Unlike everyone else, he had plenty of Mana to spare.
At least some pressure had been alleviated from the awakened, allowing them to fight the threat with focus. Hundreds, if not thousands of strange, jellyfish like creatures littered the deck, composed only of blackstrang, bladed tentacles and other strange appendages as they ruthlessly assaulted both the vessel and it's inhabitants.
The enchanted metal stood tall against their assault, the awakened however were in a pinch.
It was surprising they were even able to put up a good fight. Almost no awakened had any experience fighting on top of a boat in a stormy sea. Most of them stuck to the land or the air, which was fairly reasonable. However, the shaking surface of the vessel struck a deadly blow to their balance, constantly.
In fact, the amount of awakened that excelled in aquatic battles could be counted on one hand. Two of them were demonic humans, and the other three were already here.
Two S-ranks and one A rank awakened. They all had the bloodline of some aquatic monster that allowed them to be able to perform such dazzling feats under the water and even on top of the vessel.
All three of them, however were currently in the midst of fighting against a horror that assaulted the ship from below, Cannons and missiles assaulted the deep sea dweller but hardly had any effect.
Honestly, Elijah was pretty sure those cannons and missiles only purpose was to give some form of light to the awakened currently in battle with the horror. How effective that was, he wasn't sure.
He was also sure he was going crazy to even think of such a thing, it couldn't be helped, he had been working constantly and his exhaustion had reached the limits. The system and it's endless rewards along with it's regenerative functions were keeping him alive and his sanity, barely intact.
He let out a sigh and rushed towards the stern, leaving the awakened to fight the tentacle jellyfish. Even if they were struggling with balance and the darkness, he knew they would repel the threat soon.
All of the personnel here were the cream of the crop, not only from the association but also from the top ten guilds and great families.
The leaders of the third, fourth, and seventh ranked guilds were present, assisting the aquatic awakened in the battle against the ocean terror.
Elijah joined in, however he played a supportive role mostly. Jumping into the depths was a bad idea, very bad. Even among the guild masters only Richard, the Leader of Twilight dared to go into the ocean to assist the aquatic awakened due to his unique ability to jump into shadows and blend or merge with the darkness.
However, he wouldn't stay in the sea for lot. Whatever battle was going on inside was far too much for him to handle, therefore he only went in at regular intervals to deal a grievous wound, attract the creatures attention and retreat, giving the aquatic awakened a breather.
However short it may be, it was helpful.
Elijah was busy cutting the numerous tentacles that grappled onto the ship. The monster was clearly trying to use it's prodigious weight to tilt it under.
As he was busy in cutting the tentacles, he really cursed someone.
'Fuck you, Alan, switch places with me you dog...' freewebnσvel.cøm
Alan was the first choice after all... But both he and Kazikato had gone missing... And Elijah had to fulfill their role instead.
An ice dragon or even a death dragon would be much better than a damn fire dragon in expeditions in the sea, right?
"AHHHH!"
He let out a shriveled scream as a tentacle wrapped around his body and dragged him into the dark depths.
