Chapter 139: Chapter 139

Princess Eleanor was silent as she sat on a chair looking outside. She was not sure what to expect from Sir Kit but she knew that she had to believe in him. Princess Eleanor was well aware that she did not have any other solution 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

A smile formed on her face as she blinked her eyes. She knew that she had to accept it how it was. There was no going back now. All I knew had to do was sit and wait for Sir Kit to make a move.

"Princess," Princess Eleanor heard a knock on the door. Her eyes widened as she bit her lips and took a deep breath.

"Come in," Princess Eleanor smiled as she blinked her eyes. She stared at the door as she saw Doctor Raul coming inside the room with a bowl. "Doctor,"

Princess Eleanor’s body straightened as she smiled. She knew that she had to convince the man somehow but on what she wasn’t sure. Princess Eleanor still remembers how Doctor Raul was staring at her with wide eyes, unable to accept that the wound on her leg cannot be cured. He had taken so many samples with them that it frightened Princess Eleanor but soon she knew that he would not be able to find anything. It was impossible for him to find something in there.

"Princess, I am here today to share some results," Doctor Raul’s words brought Princess Eleanor back to reality. She knew what the Doctor was saying and could predict the upcoming answer as well. "Will Princess Eleanor tell me where she came across the slow poison?"

As soon as Doctor Raul said those words, Princess Eleanor’s brain stopped working. She knew that the poison was slow and she also knew that the amount she had used was undetectable. No one in their Kingdom was able to detect that it is a slow poison.

’Stay calm. He just knows that it is a slow poison. He does not know if it is a poison I created.’ Princess Eleanor closed her eyes for a brief second as she took a deep breath. She swallowed hard as she calmed herself down.

Princess Eleanor looked at Doctor Raul with a smile on her face. "Slow poison?" She tilted her head as if she had no idea what Doctor Raul was asking, "I was only informed by the chief healer that I am poisoned. I have ..."

"Princess should not act in front of a Doctor if she wishes to get well soon," Doctor Raul narrowed his gaze as he sat down on the floor. His eyes stayed on the leg that was wounded as he extended his hand forwards, indicating Princess Eleanor to show her wounds.

Princess Eleanor swallowed hard. She knew that this was not the right time to think about anything else. If her facial expression shows any opening, Doctor Raul would be able to crack the puzzle she had tried so hard to create.

Princess Eleanor extended her leg as she saw Doctor Raul washing the wound and reapplying the medicines on the wound. His actions were preceded and well calculated.

Princess Eleanor could sense that Doctor Raul was a man who knew his work. He was someone who was able to detect anything that he was given to search.

"The wound is not that deep. Maybe the chief healer was not able to detect the real reason but I did. The Princess should be very careful. I don’t know where the poison came into your contact but you should stay far away from it." Doctor Raul’s words were sharp as if he knew exactly from where the poison was injected into the blood.

"I wish I knew where the poison came from." Princess Elanor said in a dull tone. Her eyes stared down at her legs as her whole aura turned dull. She did not know what to expect out of the situation but she knew that she had to keep her calm and pretend to not know anything.

"Princess, it is a rare poison," Doctor Raul got up from the floor as he looked at the Princess. His face was stiff, not showing any emotions as he curled his lips up. "Well, but I think you really do not know where you got poisoned. Otherwise, how could you let yourself be put in the danger’s mouth."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head. Although she wanted to laugh at Doctor Raul’s words she knew that it would not be possible. She needed to create a stable environment and smile at times. She knew that there were still things she could never tell anyone.

Doctor Raul took the bowl that he had placed on the table as he gave it to Princess Eleanor. He smiled as he said, "this is the antidote to the poison."

Under the expected eyes of Sir Kit, Princess Eleanor smiled as she took the bowl. Her body was stiff as she managed to smile.

"An antidote?" Princess Eleanor asked in a trembling tone. She knew that finding an antidote to the poison was hard. Although it is not impossible, but one needs to study and understand the poison first. "Did Doctor Raul enter such poison prior?"

Doctor Raul raised his eyebrows as he looked at Princess Eleanor. He did not reply but his gaze narrowed as he took a deep breath. "Is the Princess asking such a question out of curiosity or because she does not trust my medical skills?"

Princess Eleanor shook her head in denial. "How can you say such a thing? Of course, I trust Doctor Raul’s medical skills." Princess Eleanor looked at the bowl as she smiled. She did not waste any more time as she swallowed the content without any other thoughts.

Once she had drunk everything, Princess Eleanor wanted to vomit everything out. She did not like the medicine at all. It felt like she was swallowing something extremely bitter.

"Does it not taste good?" Doctor Raul asked as he blinked her eyes. When he saw Princess Eleanor nodding her head he laughed as he said, "It is medicine. It is not supposed to taste good."

"At least, it should be edible," Princess Eleanor questioned. The bitter taste was still revolving in her mouth, making her irritated.

"It is in the initial stages. But Princess Eleanor should tell me, why does she not trust me? I feel like there is honesty missing between us. We are Doctor and patient and only if Princess Eleanor is fully honest with me, can I treat her." Doctor Raul’s words were filled with many well hidden emotions. He observed as Princess Eleanor’s body language changed a little.

"Why does Doctor Raul think so?" Princess Eleanor asked as she bit her lips. "Is it because I questioned the antidote?" Princess Eleanor closed her eyes before opening them again. She took a deep breath as she continued in a dull tone, "It is not my fault. I was always taught that it was the chief healers of the temple from the Roulux Empire that knew the cure to everything, but when they did not find out what poison it was, I was ..."

Princess Eleanor did not complete the sentence. She smiled as she looked at Doctor Raul who was staring down at her, "I do not mean that the Doctor is at fault. Not at all. I trust you. But when you said you had the antidote I was wondering if you found the poison?"

Doctor Raul smiled as his eyes turned sharp, "So the Princess knows that we can only make antidotes if he knows the poison? I never knew they taught medical skills to the Princesses at the Angevin Kingdom."

"Is Doctor Raul discriminating now?" Princess Eleanor bit her lips. "I had no other option than to learn it when my parents and brother died. I was alone and had to take care of myself. You might be surprised but my Lady in waiting also has some basic medicinal knowledge. She even helped Lady Gisella during our journey."

Doctor Raul nodded. "Anyways, The Princess should rest. If my observation is right, the Princess will recover in a span of a few days." Doctor Raul turned around as he took the empty bowl and decided to leave, but a question stopped him.

"So did Doctor Raul find the Poison?"

Doctor Raul looked at Princess Eleanor. He did not know what to make out of the situation, but he simply shook his head, "No, but I could find the slight composition of the supporting poison. It is a mixture of a few things. As the dose used on the Princess was small the correct and specific dose will be able to help you cure."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she smiled innocently. Soon she could see Doctor Raul walk out of the room closing the door.

As soon as the door was closed and she was alone in the room, Princess Eleanor took a few deep breaths. Soon the unknown tension surrounding her lowered as she looked outside the window.

’I need to find some clues and go to the Royal Palace soon. I cannot let Doctor Raul find out the real poison.’ Princess Eleanor thought as she waited for the night to fall.
