Chapter 242: Chapter 239

Princess Eleanor sat on the bed as she looked out. Grand Duke Christopher stood beside her, wanting to look at her all the time. He felt as if something bad would happen soon and he needed to keep watch over her.

Princess Eleanor was silent as she took a deep breath. She was with Doctor Raul now as he checked on her nerves. She knew that the healing would take some time and it was necessary for her to rest as much as she could.

"How is she?" Grand Duke Christopher asked anxiously as he raised his eyes. "Is she doing fine?"

Doctor Raul looked up at Grand Duke Christopher with a weird face. He knew that he could not do anything else to his man. The worry and craziness were evident in his gaze. He was worried sick for Princess Eleanor’s safety and Doctor Raul had never seen this side of him before.

"She just needs rest, Your Grace. I will bring some medicine tomorrow to aid in her recovery." Doctor Raul said as he tried to reason with the man who was currently not in a good mood. It was evident that Grand Duke Christopher was not expecting this response. "What? Don’t look at me with those eyes. She will not be recovering anytime soon. I suggest that she does not stress about anything and just focus on being better."

"I need you to bring the flowers here." Princess Eleanor looked at Doctor Raul as if she had found her purpose. "No, let Nia come as well with you to meet me. Tell her that I miss my necklace a lot. Especially the ring that my mother gave me. She will understand."

Doctor Raul’s eyes widened. He knew Princess Eleanor’s personality a little. She was definitely planning something.

"You need to rest. This can be done..."

"Either you tell her or I go there to meet her in person. What’s your choice?" Princess Eleanor’s tone was filled with a dangerous edge, boding no discussions. Her true emotions were out there, even if she wanted to hide them.

Grand Duke Christopher knew that Princess Eleanor was not happy with the response she was getting. He moved towards her and stroked her head softly before sitting beside her. He knew that she needed special care and support and he wanted to give her that.

"Do what she tells you to." Grand Duke Christopher gave the order as he smiled at Princess Eleanor. "We should not keep the Princess sad for a long time."

"Do you even realize what ...." Before Doctor Raul could finish his sentence, he felt a strong killing intent directed towards him. There was sweat trickling down his back as he tried to laugh out loud.

"I understand. I will let Nia know." Doctor Raul said so but his eyes narrowed, "But do not overdo it. I will send you the poison that you want too, along with the medicine."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head, "Both types." It was not a question but a statement. Doctor Raul knew that Princess Eleanor was not in any mood to rest now. Maybe she will take major steps from now on.

"Yes, both types." Doctor Raul agreed and got up. He then looked at Grand Duke who nodded his head to him. He sighed as he took a deep breath. Sometimes he does not understand what was going on in his master’s mind.

Doctor Raul bowed his head as he left the room, trying his hardest to minimize his existence. As soon as the door closed, Grand Duke Christopher looked at Princess Eleanor with a shallow smile. "Are you sure about this?"

Princess Eleanor smiled innocently as if she was not planning on executing her revenge. "I am sure. Make sure that you get Felix back here no matter what." Her tone was hard and unforgiving.

Grand Duke Christopher only nodded his head. There was a smile on his face but his eyes lacked the usual shine in them. He was worried about Princess Eleanor’s health. Although he had taken revenge and made the people suffer, he still knew that this might not be the end. Princess Eleanor might be targeted for attacks again in the near future.

Princess Eleanor looked at the Grand Duke as she understood what was bothering him. She moved a little closer to him as she leaned against his arms. "I am feeling better and something so small will not harm me."

"But how long?" Grand Duke Christopher said with a deadpan face. He knows that they had to gain more power or at least make Princess Eleanor’s position so strong that no one would even dream to harm her. However, the position which can grant her that immunity is only the position of the Empress.

Grand Duke Christopher got up and he looked at Princess Eleanor with a determined gaze. He bent down before softly kissing her on the forehead as he said, "I will make the necessary preparations. You rest."

Princess Eleanor nodded as she blinked innocently. She was in no mood to rest now. "Can you send Lady Gisella in? I need her help."

Grand Duke Christopher wanted to help her. But he also understood that with her injuries, it was better if someone was there to take care of her properly. Who else would be more qualified than Lady Gisella?

—--

Lady Gisella helped Princess Eleanor to clean up before she applied medicine to the injured area. She knew that it was important to take proper care of the wound so it would not get infected.

Princess Eleanor smiled as she felt the deep care from Lady Gisella’s side. Once she was ready, Princess Eleanor lay back on the bed and she closed her eyes nervously. Many thoughts were going on in her mind but she could not find one point of focus.

"What is Princess Eleanor so worried about?" Lady Gisella asked as she sat on the chair beside the bed. She too was tired but there was a smile on her face. The happiness of Princess Eleanor breathing and being alive was enough to be a great source of joy to her.

"Christopher took care of the people who attacked me." Princess Eleanor said as she bit her lips. "What does Lady Gisella think about it? Was it a hurried decision?"

Lady Gisella burst into laughter as she shook her head. "No, of course, not." She tried to sound serious, but she was sure that no matter what she said, Princess Eleanor would not stop overthinking. "He had always tried to do things for you. Maybe it was consciously or subconsciously. He had tried to stay near you and protect you."

Princess Eleanor’s eyes widened in shock. "Since the time he came to the Angevin Kingdom, he had been of a great help."

"Yes. But does the Princess know that maybe he had started liking the Princess a long time ago? I had always thought that it was weird that he decided to wear a mask and come as an escort with me. But now that I think about it, it was premeditated. I think it was from the time he came back from the Angevin Kingdom. Something in him had changed even back then."

Princess Eleanor was confused. "What does that mean?"

"Lady Gisella was silent. She did not know if she had the right to continue or not. But looking at Princess Eleanor, she knew that maybe it was the right time. "The Lord came back after saving you. I think it was your brother who had asked him to save you. I said that it was difficult. He was alone and surrounded by the knights that wore his family’s badge. But he still managed to save the Princess and come back victorious. It was then that he was determined to be the strongest and prove himself."

Lady Gisella sighed, "Maybe the Princess does not remember, but it was a difficult time for the Lord too. He had just lost his father and people were trying to drag his family’s name through the mud. I am not saying that the Lord was weak. But he lacked determination. However, after he came back, his eyes glowed with the aim to succeed. He became the greatest and the most feared warrior that even the Emperor could not ignore."

"Do you thin... think he did it for... for me?" There was a slight tremble in Princess Eleanor’s voice. She could feel her eyes burning as she tried to control her tears from falling down.

"Who knows?" Lady Gisella shook her head, "Initially, I thought that he found his way. But now, maybe what he found was the one person that he desperately wanted to protect. You are his savior as he is yours. The Princess was saved by the Lord when she was on the verge of death, but the Princess also saved the Lord when he was at the darkest place in his life."

Princess Eleanor was silent but her heart was filled with emotions. Was it really Christopher who saved her life back then? Was it really him, who fought the soldiers and protected her?

Princess Eleanor thought back to when she really felt a familiar vibe from him. As if she knew the man but somehow did not know him as well. A stranger yet so very familiar.

’I should have remembered.’ Princess Eleanor thought as she bit on her lips nervously, ’Why did I forget it? Why did I forget that it was him?’
