Chapter 241: Chapter 238

Princess Eleanor was surrounded by darkness. She did not know what was happening around her anymore. She knew that she was hurt but she could not blame others for what had befallen her. It was her own ignorance for not being more on guard.

Princess Eleanor tried to look around as she blinked her eyes nervously. She tried to control her racing heart, but she could not seem to see the light at all. It was not something new to her but an old experience that always lingered in her mind. She knew that she would be able to see a lot of things soon enough. Maybe a situation where she is still in the middle of the battlefield waiting for her brother to come to her help. Feeling weak all over again and trying to control her budding reaction.

But no matter how long she waited this time, nothing seemed to be happening. There was no turning back now and she was surrounded by the darkness yet again.

Princess Eleanor did not know how much time had passed. She was alone in a place and that was irritating enough. The helplessness was evident as she slid down and laid on the ground. She was alone here and yet there were so many things that she wanted to do. Her revenge had yet to be completed.

Princess Eleanor thought back on her past. The mistakes she had made. The wrong decisions she had taken and the backstabbing friend she had made. But what was the point of regretting now? She was alone and she could not achieve the desires of her heart.

’I could not kill them all.’ Princess Eleanor choked as she thought, ’I wanted to get revenge and yet I was unable to.’ Tears started flowing down her cheeks as Princess Eleanor closed her eyes. But soon she could feel a soft touch making her come back to reality.

Princess Eleanor was afraid to wake up. She was frightened to see what would be the situation she was in right now. Was she still trapped in the darkness or had someone come to save her?

"How long are you going to sleep?" A voice asked, making Princess Eleanor’s heart beat faster. She knew who the man was. The one whom she loves was now here. He was stroking her hair, holding her hands. "I miss you." She heard his voice that was full of longing and concern for her.

Princess Eleanor forcefully opened her eyes wide. Suddenly a wave of light hit her eyes and she took in deep breaths like a fish that was out of water struggling to survive. But Princess Eleanor knew that she really was struggling to find her salvation.

Princess Eleanor looked around only to see Grand Duke Christopher sitting beside her with a worried expression. His hand was cupping her cheeks as he stared at her. His gaze was so intent as though he was looking at a water fountain in the deep desert.

"You are here?" There was a slight tremble in her voice. Princess Eleanor noticed how parched her throat was and thought that she must have been asleep for a long time.

"Here... " Grand Duke Christopher smiled as he offered Princess Eleanor a cup of warm water. His eyes quickly glanced over at her shoulder as he moved the cup towards her lips.

Princess Eleanor smiled as she opened her mouth and let Grand Duke Christopher help her drink some water. She did not know how the man knew about it, but he was super careful, always checking if her wounds was fine or if there was any bleeding that needed to be stopped.

Princess Eleanor was silent as she carefully sipped at the water and once she was feeling better, she saw that Lady Gisella was standing at the foot of the bed with tears in her eyes.

"I am feeling better. You should rest, Lady Gisella." Princess Eleanor told her in a small tone, trying to comfort the obviously distraught older lady. She could see the worry in those eyes. Princess Eleanor saw Lady Gisella walk towards her as she sat down and gently gathered her hand in hers.

"I was so worried!" A few tears fell onto Princess Eleanor’s hand.

"I know. But I am feeling better now." Princess Eleanor tried to smile but she could not maintain it. She was still feeling weak and there was also a little restlessness too.

"You need to rest..." Grand Duke Christopher said in a small tone, "Send Doctor Raul in. He will check on Princess Eleanor’s health. And make sure that you do not tell anyone about her being awake for now."

Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked at Grand Duke Christopher who had a warning look on his face. She knew that the man had said so because he did not want to burden her. Lady Gisella nodded her head as she took one last look at Princess Eleanor and murmured, "Take care, Princess."

Princess Eleanor smiled softly as she nodded her head. As soon as the door was closed, Princess Eleanor looked at Grand Duke Christopher and asked, "Why do you look so sad?"

The man did not reply. His eyes stayed on the Princess as if he was still worried about her. "I was afraid."

Princess Eleanor would feel the sadness in the Grand Duke’s tone. She could feel like her heart was on fire just listening to his tone of voice. The man must have been truly worried about her wellbeing.

Princess Eleanor sighed as she slowly moved to the side. The bed was huge and she was lying in the middle. Princess Eleanor held Grand Duke Christopher’s hand and she tried to pull the man onto the bed. "Come up here... sit with me."

Grand Duke Christopher wanted to refuse, but soon he still sighed and came to Princess Eleanor’s side as she had requested. He sighed again before asking, "Are you really okay?"

Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She rested her body into Grand Duke Christopher’s arms as she smiled innocently, "But I have decided to do something."

"Is it regarding the Princess of the Cenid Kingdom?" Grand Duke Christopher asked as he felt Princess Eleanor’s body stiffen. He raised his hand as he slowly stroked her hair. His movement was gentle and unhurried. "She and her lady-in-waiting have been taken care of. They will never be able to harm you ever again."

Princess Eleanor could feel the dark aura surrounding her. There was a slight tremble, but she soon composed herself. No matter what he did, he was still the man she loves. Even if he was a dangerous one, he still loved her the most.

"I understand." Princess Eleanor nodded her head. "But I want to speed things up."

Princess Eleanor snuggled into Grand Duke Christopher’s chest like a spoiled child who wanted attention. "The situation has taught me a lot of things and I now know that life is too short. I do not want to leave any regrets behind."

Grand Duke Christopher nodded in agreement as he smiled. His eyes were sharp as his hold on Princess Eleanor tightened slightly, "I will listen to you." There was certainty in his tone as Grand Duke Christopher kissed her head softly. "Whatever you want to do, will be done. I do not care what it is or what I have to lose. If you want it, I will listen and follow. You just need to say the words."

Princess Eleanor’s heart was overwhelmed with emotions. She knew that the man loves her but she did not know that his love was so deep.

There was a tacit understanding between them and Princess Eleanor was proud of it. The feeling of helplessness evaporated in thin air as she felt the warmth from the man who refused to leave her alone.

"I want to kill them. Everyone who was involved in this should be killed. Including my childhood friend." Princess Eleanor’s voice was low. Maybe because she had not recovered her energy, she still felt a lonely weakness. But there was steely determination in her tone and gaze. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at the closed door. Her arms that were wrapped around Grand Duke Christopher’s waist tightened. "I want to kill them before it is too late." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Grand Duke Christopher was not familiar with the feeling. He knew what she was going through. For him, Princess Eleanor was like an open book, ready to be read by him. So how could he not understand the hidden meaning behind her words?

"The High Priest will soon announce the ceremony for you. The temple will send an invitation to the Angevin Kingdom and I will make sure that Felix will be there." Grand Duke Christopher said as he looked down at Princess Eleanor. "Whatever you decide to do, I will always be there to support you."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She was thankful that the man loves her so much. If it was not for him, she did not know how far she could have reached on her road of revenge. Not only did Grand Duke Christopher help and show her the right path to achieve her dreams, but he also became an active person on the road. He helped her because she was trapped within it and had made her realize her own heart.

Princess Eleanor could not help but look up at Grand Duke Christopher. Her heart was beating fast as she saw him staring down at her with a soft gaze.

’I will catch up with you soon. Soon I will leave the past behind and move ahead toward my future with you.’ Princess Eleanor promised to herself and to Christopher in her heart with a clear conscience. She knew for sure what she wanted in life and this experience made her even more determined to achieve it.
