Chapter 151: Trapped Sea Lord (1)

The two terrifying humans, Devion and Khal, stood in front of a door leading to the monster. The chaotic mana fluctuations outside indicated they had finally arrived at the monster’s final dwelling.

"That bastard is inside." Devion cracked his knuckles, ready for battle.

Devion was even more thirsty for its blood, wanting to tear it to pieces. How dare it covet Ayen?

Khal’s expression was no less than his. He was not one to spare anyone who could be a threat to his life and those precious to him.

Whoever the monster or its origins, it had to die.

Instead of directly opening the door, they blasted it open, very disrespectfully.

"Wow. That’s disgusting." Devion’s left eye twitched, making sure his voice was loud and clear.

Devion only wanted to provoke it. This was by far the most pleasing to the eye, at least compared to most boss monsters he encountered. Some of them were hideous enough that Devion wondered who the pervert that designed them.

Its countless eyes glared at him, putting an unimaginable pressure on him. Devion smirked and shrugged as he patted his shoulder as though wiping the disgusting presence closing on him.

Once again, blatant disrespect. For the monster, it had never imagined a human would be so impudent as to disregard it.

Khal merely stood by Devion’s side, simply amused by his antics.

Already enraged, the monster’s eyes became bloodshot even further.

"What insolence! A human showed disdain to this Lord?" The monster’s voice sounded disgruntled, as though it came from the deepest sea.

It was uncomfortable to hear. Devion pricked his ear. He was surprised that a monster could speak so clearly, but everything was possible in this world.

"And what will you do about it?" Devion spread his arms, eyes filled with blatant provocation.

If he cursed at it or disregarded it, what could it do? Devion’s words made him speechless.

At this moment, who the monster was between the two sides was clear. It was not the SS-class monster but them. Khal and Devion were back at their peak, while the monster was seriously injured and could not even dispel the two espers’ powers.

The monster’s whole body trembled in rage, its eyes twitching simultaneously.

What a gruesome sight. Devion clicked his tongue.

Khal and Devion were not dumb to wait for the attack. Their forms disappeared, only to reappear a few meters from the monster. Its tentacles flailed and lashed at them; hundreds of its limbs began to move.

Khal’s and Devion’s afterimages could be seen flickering so much that even the monster’s hundreds of eyes were unable to keep up.

"Ahh! What are you!" it roared. It could not believe that its simple desire to recover after sensing someone that was useful to it would turn to this moment.

Khal’s ice sword cut off limb after limb as he effortlessly avoided the blood spraying into his body. Before he dodged the other tentacles attacking him and sliced through them with the same intensity.

Devion could not care less about cleanliness, though; he tore off the tentacles with his bare hands, and the lightning spread to the wound, making the monster roar in pain.

The two did not care about ending the fight so early; they were clearly torturing the octopus. Devion’s laughter resounded just as the monster howled.

Looking at it from others’ perspective, it seemed... They were truly the monsters in this scenario.

Khal saw how some limbs attempted to regenerate and quickly froze the wound. Devion was doing the same; he made sure that his power prevented the limbs from growing back.

"Humans!" The monster was out of its wits and was getting angrier, but could not do anything to stop its fate.

Its luck was also extremely bad. As a solitary Sea Lord, its attendants were mostly water lifeforms. However, he met an absolute counter to it.

Khal.

The monster knew that even if it sent its minions, Khal could effortlessly immobilize them, and it was useless. Devion could then torment it further by unleashing his lightning as the two powers combined.

Khal and Devion were unaware of the special effect of their combined powers, though.

Being played by the two made it all the more miserable.

Devion and Khal did not care about their feelings. They continued to harvest its limbs until none were left. It only took ten minutes.

"So weak." Devion stepped on the wriggling limbs before he disintegrated them; he turned and laughed at it. "No wonder you placed this hiding place in such an annoying location."

Its body trembled, both from humiliation and terror.

Its body grew so weak, and the pain it was suppressing in its chest began to assault it again.

"Oh?" Devion noticed it and stared at the scar on its chest, showing signs of opening. Somehow, he got a familiar feeling.

"If only I were not injured, human! This sea lord will..." It could not continue as it suddenly shook and blood flowed from its eyes.

"A curse." Khal stood beside Devion. "It’s being tormented by a curse."

Devion also nodded. The mocking smile on his lips had faded. His face became solemn, but the disdain in his eyes while watching the monster remained.

The two watched the monster silently. It was bleeding profusely from its hundreds of limbs and eyes. The scar on its chest opened, and a mouth filled with teeth appeared; black mana surrounded the monster.

Devion felt Khal’s hands reach out and hold his. He did not need to glance at his companion and responded by gripping his hand.

This was both an assurance for oneself and for each other.

Curse was like a deep taboo between them, one that tormented them for years. One that fucked everything from the start.

Seeing others suffering from it brought no joy, even if it was a monster. Devion found himself not feeling pity either. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"It’s your fault!" The monster howled again and again. Until it stopped.

Its aura significantly weakened.

Devion’s and Khal’s power and the curse joined to torture it. Its body shrank in real time until almost half of its size had disappeared.

"If only... the panacea..." it uttered in despair.

Khal and Devion narrowed their eyes as they heard this. Their killing intent brewed within them. The two did not approach its body because of the curse shrouding the area, but launching their abilities was not an issue.

The monster grunted in pain and cursed them, but as it had no tentacles, it only flailed and shrank even further.
