The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 227: She plans but the system also plans.
The announcement was seen by every game player that was currently active. Most were jealous of her.
She had just got the golden surprise chicken and now she had cleared another hidden task.
There was an open forum where all the gamers could trade information and five seconds after the general announcement, all sorts of comments started dropping in rapidly.
"Who is this player exactly?"
"Miss bard, are you one of the game developers? Why do you keep finding hidden tasks?"
"I bet her guild has all six maps already."
"Aaah, she is the one that the elf hates because she cheats."
"If she was cheating the game would have detected it already. Don't just make random slanderous comments because you can't keep up."
"It's a competition but some of you take it too lightly and that's why you are on the bottom of the popularity polls."
"So, does she get a reward for finishing the hidden task?"
"Haven't you heard that she has only been taking on tasks whose reward is a map? Some of us are watching her. Whatever task she picks, a member of our guild must do the same as long as it's an open task."
"Miss bard, if your reward is a map our deamon guild is willing to purchase it. Let's negotiate the price privately."
Alix didn't see the comments because the city lord had surprised her with something else. A very unique, weirdly designed necklace. It was round and smaller at the neck, then became wider, falling to the shoulders as if it was part of a dress.
It was made of....
"Emeralds," her system was prepared to give her the answer before she could rack her mind in search of it. "This could easily fetch up to two hundred fifty or three hundred million when sold, that's enough money to cover our expenses in the next world."
Suddenly, Alix felt sharp pangs in her heart and the breath was stolen from her lungs for a second. Two hundred fifty to three hundred million and the system wanted it all to go back into the game!! What kind of money sucking game was this?
Where was her cut? What if she wanted to wear it and show off?
The blue system elf couldn't hear her very loud pain because it was too busy jubilating. Even if it heard her, it tuned her out. "Host, we have agreed. Ha-ha, I will make you invisible in the final battle. Do you know that an NPC explorer found a hidden gem in the ruins of the old lava demon which which you killed back then? Nobody knows about it other than me so far.
While everyone is scrambling for teleportation scrolls, you can just walk past them, and cut off the head of the dark wizard."
Alix bent down and put her hands on her knees.
"Are you okay heroine?" The city lord asked her.
Alix nodded and and looked at the necklace which he holding so casually in his hand loosely like a cheap trinket that he had acquired from the market.
Was there a way to scam a few more of these out of him? He had to have a whole stash in his mansion. Why wasn't he one of the final bosses that were meant to be slaughtered? He was a fat sheep but his position as NPC gave him protection.
Of course, if she was playing the character of a thief, she would be untouchable.
"The dark wizard will have much better loot than the NPC, move on." The blue elf yelled in her mind.
Still pained from the feeling of grief, she accepted the necklace and thanked the city lord. Since she didn't need to carry out the task, she didn't plan to stick around either.
She left the gaming world temporarily, with a plan to log back in later. She was just in time to hear the ringing of the bell, which meant that it was time for breakfast.
Just when she was about to pick up her bag and cat, she realized that Majesty was gone.
"Oh," she said.
She looked around, but he was not in the back or the front seats. The driver's side of the window was slightly lowered so she figured that he had probably gone out that way.
Caishen had insisted that trackers be put in all the cats so she checked her phone. As expected, his location pinged at the music building. He was probably with elder Ren.
Alix got out of the car with a sigh, an image of the emerald necklace had just crossed her mind.
"I need to stop thinking about it." she muttered to herself. The more she tried to stop, the more she did which resulted in her walking which downcast eyes and heavy shoulders.
Her feet carried her to Jin Kang's office first. Outside the office was a line of students, both from the high school and younger ones of university going age. Jin Kang was probably busy, and needed help.
Perhaps I should not have over slept, Alix thought.
"Excuse me." she said loudly.
The students were in a crowd and not a line. Some of them turned back and recognized her as the school director. Unexpectedly, a girl screamed and launched herself at Alix.
"It's you, it's really you. I am a very big fan."
Alix had to peel the girl off her body as if she was a sticky octopus. Technically this was her first fan and fan interaction but she didn't want to be hugged out of the blue.
"Ha-ha, thank you but we are on school grounds. Please refrain from behaving like this." She firmly planted the girl's hands at her side and held them there.
The young girl who was dressed in the Yuwen high school uniform kept looking at Alix with stars in her eyes. This was not a look Alix was used to.
"Are you calm now?" she asked the girl. Her eyes moved to the yellow name tag on her school shirt. "Chun Hua."
The girl screamed again and Alix drew her head back, grimacing.
"I will take her." One of the music teachers came out from Jin Kang's office and held on to the girl gently by the arms. "Chun Hua, the director is here as a teacher, not a celebrity."
Alix quickly walked past the rest of them and went into the office.
Three students were in there and they were facing Jin Kang, her assistant and an unknown young woman.
"Director, good morning." Jin Kang greeted her.
Alix noticed that her friend was being professional, not referring to her by her name or starting with small talk. She even added a little respectful bow.
Alix's jaw almost dropped to the ground in surprise. Was this the same Jin Kang she knew?
The other two women also greeted Alix and she responded to each.
"What is happening?" she asked her friend.
New novel 𝓬hapters are published on freёwebnoѵel.com.
"Music school registrations. We have to separate them according to what they are here to learn." Jin Kang replied.
"What about the ones in uniforms, the school children." She even pointed at two whose eyes were glued to her now.
"Their parents have signed them up to learn an instrument as part of the special class. Yuwen music club and Songbird music academy will form a music ensemble but it's first come first serve for the students. What do you think?"
