There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord!-Chapter 249: To See You (8)
Back to the Moon Elf Lord’s subordinates, Legland and Olyn, they are currently cooperating with the scout team in building up a comfortable campsite.
They did the task where they did best.
Olyn helped build tents using the earth powers. While Legland handled the products of the hunting team with his dominion over fire, it was easy for him to control the fire during cooking, making perfectly roasted meat.
Oh, and they also used these menial tasks as an opportunity to ask around. They did it so that when their Moon Elf Lord asks them personally, they would promptly answer as questioned.
Legland and Olyn know the pressing issues that their Lord would love to hear about. It is the news about the moon elves, the blood dragon and...
"Illian, you have been travelling with the Lord’s mate for a long time, right? Do you happen to meet any of his relatives? " Olyn asked the chubby best friend of Xagrien when the two of them were building a makeshift earthen house for the Moon Elf Lord.
Ilian momentarily stopped filling the gaps in the thatched roof and answered, looking thoughtful.
"Well, I met Xagrien about seven years ago, but even then, I didn’t hear anything about his family. I just know that his bearer father from the lightning clan was the one who raised him, but he died defending against those earth dragons in the northern Immortal Glades."
"Xagrien said that his father was 89 years old when he passed. Add the years..." Ilian’s forehead scrunched. "He should be around 101 years old now. A proper, middle-aged uncle."
"Really?" Olyn’s eyes widened like an owl’s.
If Luis could see this, he would have laughed hysterically at the adorable gossipy face of Olyn.
Ilian nodded, a hundred percent certain.
Xagrien told him this story when Illian felt depressed thinking about his terrible fate of being part of the Isan Clan. It was a very memorable moment for him. There’s no way he will make a mistake on the details.
"Did Xagrien ever describe what his bearer father looked like?"
"That—" Ilian sighed. "I don’t know about that. We are pretty sad when we discussed his father’s death. What kind of people would gush about beauty when they feel like suffocated?"
Olyn, being close with the Moon Elf Lord, knows very well what sarcasm is.
His eyes immediately became dead, then he noiselessly focused on strengthening the earthen wall.
Ilian laughed like a rascal. But he became curious why Olyn was suddenly inquiring about Xagrien’s background.
"Hey, Olyn. Did something happen? I saw the small group of purple-eyed warriors that arrived with you. Are they from the Kaldini Lightning Clan?"
Olyn looked up. Still not answering.
Ilian awkwardly smiled. "Come on, say it. Did someone present themselves as Xagrien’s relative or something?"
"I am telling you. Even if their claim is true, don’t listen to them. They surely be a bad thing because if they are indeed Xagrien’s family, then why would they let his bearer father roam in the wilderness?" Ilian spoke from his experience.
With the origins of the moon elves closely connected due to clans, it is easy to claim blood connections, especially in the case of the lightning clan.
They are relatively new, so everyone in that clan should be brothers or cousins of varying degrees.
"Besides, I wouldn’t recognize their relationship unless they resemble Xagrien by eight to nine points," Ilian said, full of righteous indignation.
He didn’t just consider Xagrien as his best friend. He is family, too.
Ilian may be weak in combat, but he will not hesitate to fight to the death just to protect Xagrien.
"Olyn," Speaking of the devil, Gael came out of the woods and approached.
Ilian’s eyes looked like they were about to pop upon seeing the entirety of the newcomer. "This is..."
Gael looked at him, confused.
Before Ilian says something stupid, Olyn quickly calls the attention of the patriarch of the Kaldini lightning clan.
"What is it?"
"We scoured the entire land area. We found out that aside from the medium-sized magic beasts and a few critters, there’s no one else nearby. Camping here should be safe for the Moon Elf Lord." Gael immediately stated his purpose, which was to report.
Olyn understandably nodded. "Okay. Thank you so much for your effort. By the way, the area that I pointed out to you... Did you..."
Gael blushed, indicating the tacit understanding of Olyn’s vague words. "Don’t worry. We dodged that area."
Olyn breathed a sigh of relief.
Gael excused himself, and Olyn resumed his work.
The brown-eyed bearer ignored the chubby fellow on the thatched roof who remained still like a stone pillar.
"Olyn. I think I missed a lot of things," Ilian said after some time.
"That guy... he—" Ilian choked at the barrage of assumptions forming in his head. "He looked a lot like Xagrien! It’s as if I am looking at several decades-old Xagrien!"
"Shh!" Olyn inevitably had to shush Ilian quietly. The man’s mouth is too loud! "Don’t say anything. We will let Xagrien and the Moon Elf Lord handle this."
Ilian covered his mouth, still looking surprised at the information he learned. This feels like they solved an impossible mystery!
Excited, the chubby fellow asked about the vague exchange between Olyn and Gael.
"But what about the area you are talking about? Did we somehow camp out near a dangerous spot?"
Innocent Olyn shooed Ilian away. "No way. Xagrien picked this place well. The area I asked Gael to avoid was the spot where the Moon Elf Lord disappeared. He was here to harvest his mate’s essence for the babies. I don’t want the trackers of the Kaldini lightning clan to stumble upon the private moment between the Moon Elf Lord and Xagrien."
Ilian turned into stone after hearing that.
Is this alright for him to know?!
Ilian thinks that Xagrien will strangle him if he learned that he knows their couple’s intimate moments.
’Better keep this to the grave!’ Ilian told himself before burying his head in work.
~~~
The tents and the Moon Elf Lord’s earth house were completed right before the darkness swallowed the forest.
The owner of the earth house, on the other hand, arrived at the camping site one hour after the stars first twinkled.
No one asked why he appeared together with the scout leader.
They are mates.
Some words are not appropriate to voice out, but the fact above was enough to convey the unsaid words.
"Hello, everyone! Have you all eaten?" Luis asked the moon elves and wolf orcs in the crowd.
Luis saw them circling the bonfire, so he assumed that they had just finished eating.
But to his surprise...
"My Lord! You are finally here. Let’s go eat," Olyn greeted him with an inviting smile. He clapped, and some of the members of the scout group stood up, bringing out the cooked meats and fruits from God knows where.
"You guys... You didn’t..." Luis was utterly speechless. These people waited for him?!
"My Lord, all of us voted to wait for you. You don’t have to feel bad for it." Legland had a thorough understanding of his lord by now.
But even if Legland put it that way, Luis still feels bad.
He was having sex while his subordinates were waiting for him, starving!
If this is not the definition of an irresponsible leader, then he doesn’t know what is.
"You guys... I am sorry..." Luis was already sensitive after making love with Xagrien, plus the fact that he is pregnant, he couldn’t help but be emotional.
Xagrien quickly stepped forward, hugging Luis with one hand.
The man thoughtfully hid his mate’s crying face from his subordinates.
"Come on, don’t cry. Your subordinates just loved and respected you so much. Besides, believe me. They should understand your condition," Xagrien coaxed his pregnant mate. "We did it out of necessity and love, not just lust. There’s no need to feel about it."
Being a crybaby was something new to Luis.
And honestly, he doesn’t want to be like this.
Luis immediately tried to rein in his emotions.
"Okay. Okay. Excuse me for these sudden tears." Luis wiped away the moisture in his eyes.
"Let’s eat, everyone." The Moon Elf Lord motioned to everyone, and the feast finally started.
The meal of the group was monotonous, comprising mainly of roasted magical rabbit, deer and pig and wild fruits. But since the meat was handled by a four-star warrior who possesses masterful control over fire, the meat was cooked juicy and tender.
Biting into it made Luis forget about his lapse in leadership.
Add the citrusy fruit that could cleanse his palate, Luis could continue randomly eating the hunted meats to the point that he had already forgotten the shameful purpose of being here.
"I don’t know if this is because of the clean and magic-rich foods that animals eat, but the meat in this world beats the taste of the ones from where I came from," Luis whispered to Xagrien.
Xagrien listened to Luis with great interest, "Really? Why do you think so?"
That question sparked the talkative side of Luis.
The Moon Elf Lord turned into a proper chatterbox, describing the taste of the pork, chicken, and all sorts of meat from Earth.
Luis didn’t know that Xagrien just loved hearing him talk.
The couple was immersed in each other’s pull when suddenly, Xagrien felt someone’s stare.
Surprise momentarily flashed in his face before he turned to Luis.
"Right, you said that some members of the Kaldini lightning clan came with you. Did someone approach you claiming that they are my maternal uncle?"
Luis was surprised. "Wait, you have a maternal uncle?!"
He gawkily looked around, searching for Gael.
