These Familiars Are Strange-Chapter 295: Invasion (14)
With the scouts continuing forward, it felt like they were about to leave the area that had been designated as the acceptable area.
It really felt like they were about to do something that would betray the Abyss Guards.
That was until they suddenly stopped.
"What are they doing?" I couldn’t help asking Yun Tian when I saw this happen.
Yun Tian shook his head at first as he narrowed his eyes to watch them, then he suddenly revealed a look of understanding as he said, "They’re setting up an Abyss Soul Trap."
"Abyss Soul Trap?" I repeated in a confused voice.
Yun Tian gave a slow nod before explaining, "It’s a special item that traps the souls of the Abyss Demons and converts them into a special crystal that can be used to make one stronger. It’s not normally used since it requires a large amount of Abyss Demon souls, so there wouldn’t be a place where this many souls would be gathered."
"You’re saying that they aren’t doing anything to harm the rest of us?" I slowly asked after hearing this explanation.
Yun Tian slowly gave a nod before saying with a sigh, "They wouldn’t dare do something like that, I’ve already told you. At most, they will try to gain a few extra benefits like this."
It seemed that there was a trace of relief in his voice as he said this.
However, I couldn’t help deeply knitting my brows.
If this was all that they were doing, then that meant that I had been wrong about this.
But more important than me being wrong, it meant that we had no idea what was happening with the Abyss Demons. Without any information on what the Abyss Demons were doing, we were nothing more than sitting ducks.
Once they were done with what they were planning, there was no doubt that all of us would be in danger.
While I was contemplating what to do next, I suddenly felt something coming from my chest.
When I looked down, I found that it was the Astral White Tiger that had woken up.
Not only did it wake up, it seemed like it was in a bit of a bad mood with the way that it was causing a fuss from inside of my shirt.
So I had no choice but to pull the Astral White Tiger out to see what it wanted.
The moment that the Astral White Tiger was pulled out, it started looking around as if there was something that had caught its attention. With how agitated it was, it seemed like it was something that was quite important.
"Where is it?" I asked the Astral White Tiger while it was still looking around.
The Astral White Tiger didn’t answer as it kept looking around, but then it suddenly looked in one direction.
This was in a different direction from where the scouts were, but it was also not in the area that had been set as the safe zone. That meant that if we were to find what had caught the Astral White Tiger’s attention, we would have to leave this area.
"How much do you trust it?" Yun Tian seemed to have already guessed what was happening, which was why he asked this question.
I took a deep breath before saying, "I have full faith in it."
"Alright, let’s go then." Yun Tian said with a nod.
It wasn’t that he trusted the instincts of the Astral White Tiger, it was that he trusted me since I spoke up for it.
I was a bit touched by this since it wasn’t as if we had known each other for that long.
For him to go this far in trusting me...
"I won’t let you down."
Yun Tian gave a simple nod in response before going behind me.
He was letting me take the lead in this matter, which further showed the trust that he had for me.
Once we crossed out of the safe area, we immediately started moving more carefully.
There was a reason why this place was designated as outside the safe area.
The captains had decided to concentrate the forces of the Abyss Guards, which was why all of the area inside the safe zone had been carefully scouted. Everything that was outside of the safe zone was a place that we had no idea of.
As such, we were literally walking into the unknown.
After a while though it seemed like the Astral White Tiger reacted.
The moment that it did, I headed in the direction that it was gesturing in.
It really seemed like the Astral White Tiger wanted to break free of my grasp with the way that it was struggling, but I made sure to hold tightly onto it.
It didn’t take long for us to find what it was that had gotten the Astral White Tiger this agitated.
It turned out that it was a cave.
There was no light that came from this cave, so we couldn’t see that deep into it. However, just the fact that it was this dark went to show how deep the cave was.
I looked at Yun Tian with a bit of hesitation when I saw this since we had no idea what was in it.
Even though the Astral White Tiger seemed like it was agitated by something inside, it didn’t feel right risking everyone’s lives like this just on the instincts of the Astral White Tiger.
Or at least I couldn’t risk the lives of Yun Tian’s group without asking them first.
"It’s fine. We followed you here, so we’ll go in with you."
It wasn’t just Yun Tian who said this, the rest of his group all nodded in agreement after he said this.
So I just gave a simple nod back to them in response before heading into the cave.
We couldn’t actually use flashlights to light the way since it might alert whoever was inside of the cave, but it was a good thing that we had night vision goggles that had been supplied to us.
