This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1119 Divine Game: Quiet Mountain 2
Rita arrived at the nearest town as quickly as possible. Her plan was to first gather information about whether this world had the Divine Game and the Pendulum...
She reviewed all of her skills, then took out the Plush Collar and slipped it onto her wrist. It transformed into a 10 cm tall plush doll before she entered the town.
After taking a quick look around, she found the local library and activated Waste Guide. She sifted through newspapers from past years and key historical books.
Once time resumed, she reluctantly headed to a quiet spot and immediately opened the group chat.
[BS Rita]: This world has the Divine Game too, held every three years. All living beings can participate.
[Lania KaiaMaple Syrup]: Just like Binast, all creatures in the world can either watch live or remotely.
[Fury Prayer]: The Divine Game is divided by regions, and Quiet Mountain is split into 99 domains. Each domain is home to a variety of beings, similar to the Isolated Isle.
[BS Rita]: Interesting!
[BS Mistblade]: Quiet Mountain’s Divine Game also has individual, fun, and team competitions. Like the Uncharted Star Sea’s Divine Game, rankings and rewards are based on scores, not just the winner.
[BS Crab]: There’s no Moon Courier here. Not sure if it wasn’t set up, or if no player has ever won three championships in Quiet Mountain.
[DawnCicada]: Players in Quiet Mountain are born and raised in different domains. But when they win rewards in the Divine Game, they always choose to benefit their own race, not the domain they live in.
[Isolated Isle Lightchaser]: Just like Isolated Isle, players in this world don’t gain extra lifespan by leveling up, unless they’re naturally immortal, or use Divine Game rewards to acquire genes of immortal races.
Rita silently lowered her hand, staring at the almost instantaneously refreshed chat.
Such speed!
The players who were talking were not the helpful types at all. What twisted their minds?
The game rewards.
This was the first time Rita truly understood how powerful these players were once they broke free from the constraints of the game’s rules.
She had rushed into the town and used Time Stop to gather information, yet these players were collecting intel just as quickly as she had.
But even just the 1.5 pieces of information Rita shared in the chat earlier earned her 17 contribution points. That was still not bad.
Rita summoned B80 and transformed it into an earring, which she then attached to her ear. "Your task is to keep an eye on the battlefield chat and collect all useful information. Report every 5 minutes."
B80: "Understood."
Next, she made Nivalis shrink to its smallest size and tucked it into her pocket. "Your job is to immediately use Tail Tip whenever I give the command. Stay ready."
Nivalis: "Got it!"
Rita then started heading toward the main city, following the map she had seen earlier in the library.
She knew she was in the 23rd domain, which had 30 main cities. The closest one to her was Beacon.
Not just Beacon, but there were also Snowfield, Brilliance, Hippie, and more—one familiar name after another.
It was as if the world of Uncharted Star Sea had been transplanted into Quiet Mountain, where everyone peacefully coexisted...
Arriving at Beacon, a city that resembled a flower city, Rita didn’t rush in. She observed the surroundings for several hours.
Her conclusion: In all the main cities of Quiet Mountain, any disguise skill below a divine level wouldn’t work.
This was confirmed in the battlefield chat.
[Isolated IsleAsh Cinders]: As soon as you step into the main city, your disguise is automatically detected and removed.
[Isolated IsleAsh Cinders]: This rule was added after The Bell Tolls, part of the MarmangLulumi rule change.
Was this rule specially implemented for Uncharted Star Sea players?
Rita removed the Plush Collar from her wrist, used a minor E-level tool she had once found in a cat’s nest to change her black hair to silver, and wondered if this cosmetic skill would count as a disguise. She figured it was worth testing if she could find a loophole... She had always said the Mountainbound race couldn’t be left behind, after all, even the smallest trash could eventually shine!
The color of her eyes was trickier, though. Most Vineborne had silver hair and red eyes, but occasionally, their skills could cause changes. Her golden lightning-colored eyes, holding the power of gold thunder, weren’t a huge flaw, but they might raise suspicion.
Rita hid in the shadows and used Pirate Enters the Stage to steal a Beacon Coin from a Vineborne. It was a wooden coin that emitted a floral fragrance, just like the one she had seen in Beacon’s World Sigh.
She covered the coin with her golden lightning for a while to erase any lingering floral scent, then used it to pay for her entry into the city.
As Fury Prayer had said, just like the Isolated Isle, all kinds of beings lived together here. But in the main city of Beacon, Vineborne made up the majority.
The streets were full of Vineborne, and Rita was starting to feel a headache.
The only good news was that she understood their language, unlike the players in the chat who had to buy a translator.
B80 spoke in her mind: "SmokeTune is looking for you."
Rita continued observing her surroundings while opening the battlefield chat.
[BS SmokeTune]: Rita, which domain are you in? Which main city?
[BS Rita]: 23rd domain, Beacon.
[BS SmokeTune]: I saw you in the 7th domain, BS. It’s you, but not quite. I’m sure it’s you, but not the version I’m familiar with. Do you get what I mean?
Rita stopped in her tracks. What was going on?
She couldn’t help but look around. Was this world a replica of Uncharted Star Sea? But the layout and structure were completely different, so how could they be the same?
[BS Rita]: SmokeTune, what level did you see me at in BS? Was I strong?
[BS SmokeTune]: 18th rank. Because I looked at her for a moment longer, she’s now holding a knife to my throat, asking what I’m looking at.
Rita: "So my ’other self’ is a combustible personality?"
[BS Rita]: Well, just tell her you made a mistake. I’m sure she’ll understand.
[BS SmokeTune]: ...Forget it. I’ve been caught. She said I look suspicious.
[DawnCicada]: "But not the one I’m familiar with." Do you still know her?
[BS Rita]: What time is it!! 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
[DawnCicada]: You only ever ask "what time is it?" SmokeTune, the only one who cares about you is me. Got it?
Rita had no words to reply. It was impossible for her to waste time running to the 7th domain to save SmokeTune. After all, it wasn’t like SmokeTune couldn’t respawn.
[BS Rita]: Fine, let me know when you rescue SmokeTune.
[DawnCicada]: SmokeTune, if you have any intel, share it in the group to earn contribution points. I’m busy.
Rita: ...And this is the eye of Deceitful Bloom! Totally blind!
