This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist-Chapter 1118 Divine Game: Quiet Mountain 1
After provoking DawnCicada, Rita and SmokeTune, though in different rooms, both simultaneously turned off the battlefield chat channel.
SmokeTune, feeling no real hope, thought to herself, "This is all for the Vineborne. I hope Cicada can understand."
She couldn’t even begin to explain; in her deal with BS Rita, aside from the condition that she had to unconditionally side with Rita whenever BS Rita and DawnCicada quarreled, there was also the rule that she couldn’t tell DawnCicada about the deal.
Unlike SmokeTune’s sense of melancholy and guilt, Rita’s mood after shutting down the battlefield chat was rather delightful. She didn’t even have to think about it—DawnCicada, with the world on the verge of collapse, still complaining about why the gods didn’t favor her Vineborne. Rita could only imagine how furious she must be now.
Nivalis and B80, who were silently observing, exchanged glances.
Nivalis said, "Do you know what I said when Holy Cup asked me why I was so tolerant of BS Rita?"
Rita subtly tuned in, her curiosity piqued.
B80, playing along, asked, "What did you say?"
Nivalis grinned, "I told her that sometimes, in terms of psychological age, I might actually be more mature than BS Rita. How could she always be so bold as to complain about Vineborne?"
Rita stretched her voice in mock surprise, "I’m not deaf."
She retrieved Nivalis’s space backpack and B80’s power bank from the gacha machine and handed them over to her companions, while she herself donned a full set of equipment.
She had been so busy lately that she hadn’t had much time to level up. The level 90 equipment she had obtained from Tingo Autumn Deer and DawnCicada still wasn’t usable, but her attributes had been steadily improving.
Whenever Rita traded with other worlds, she always requested high-level equipment, which she then turned into golden apples with Flower of Deceit to consume, adding to her stats.
Though the attributes she gained this way weren’t as high as the ones she lost due to her Vine, her divine talent upgrade, new Vineborne Race Talent, and the addition of two Star Sea Skills still boosted her power to rank at Level 15, remaining in the Abyss tier. The game rules likely hadn’t changed much from the previous round.
However, when the game rules were revealed, it took Rita by surprise.
[23160th Divine Game: Quiet Mountains]
[Game countdown: 00:09:57]
[Game content]: Proceed to the other side of the Pendulum—Quiet Mountains
After the countdown ended, Divine Game players would be deployed to "Quiet Mountains." The Uncharted Star Sea would mask the identities of the players and their pets, and they would need to find and destroy ten order badges in the next 30 mountain days. The progress would directly determine the game’s final score and ranking.
1) All skills except the world skills and war skills are unlocked. Players may carry any game item, artifact, or equipment. The limit of 1000 languages of all races per game is lifted. The restriction on using divine relics and triggering the gods’ shadow and voice is also lifted.
2) This is not a competitive game. If a player kills another Uncharted Star Sea player during this round of Divine Game, their rewards will be halved.
3) At the end of the game, rewards will be based on each player’s specific contributions, including but not limited to battlefield chat information support. Divine Game will record each contribution and synchronize it with the players.
4) The top 10 players will receive a world skill of at least a 3-star rank as a reward (this reward can be sold on the trading post). Players ranked 11–100 will receive 5–30 world fragments as rewards.
Reminder: Death in this world does not equate to actual death. The outcome of this game will directly influence the final catastrophe in Uncharted Star Sea. Players are encouraged to cooperate and set aside grudges.
After reading all the rules, Rita immediately opened the battlefield chat. The screen was already flooding with messages. This was the first time that Divine Game had shown a true glimpse of what was to come—clearer and more direct than even the Shrine Quiz.
But it also raised more questions.
Quiet Mountains... If Quiet Mountains corresponds to Uncharted Star Sea, what kind of world would that be? Why destroy ten order badges? What does this have to do with the final catastrophe? Why is it that only Uncharted Star Sea has to suffer?
It was clear that this game was crucial. Divine Game not only emphasized cooperation but also removed all previous restrictions, making sure players didn’t face any hindrances. The rewards were also quite generous.
Regarding the world skills rewards, opinions in the chat were divided. One side was excited, arguing that since Divine Game could offer world skills as rewards, why keep forcing worlds to fight each other?
But others, more rational and calm, noticed that the appearance of these world skills seemed related to the worlds destroyed after the first pendulum strike.
No matter the emotion, all players were eager and hopeful about the rewards. Even worlds that already had world skills still wanted to acquire more, as no one knew how strong the second pendulum would be.
Rita had a way to obtain world skills, so the top ten rewards weren’t strictly necessary for her. However, that didn’t mean she wasn’t interested. If she could obtain one, she could sell it on the trading post for resources or honor points, which would help expand the BS territory.
When the countdown ended, Rita felt a moment of darkness before her surroundings suddenly changed. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in an empty wilderness. She didn’t immediately examine the environment but quickly stored her golden rain curtain and equipped herself with the Solitary Antenna Baby. With her mana and health now in the millions, using this item was effortless.
As soon as she finished, an emerald dragon flew overhead. The dragon scanned the wilderness but found nothing. After it flew away, Rita began heading towards the area where Hearthsmoke was.
The excitement in the battlefield chat continued. The setting for this game was so captivating that the screen was quickly filled with messages from players eager to share their experiences.
[Lania KaiaFat Goose]: I’ve entered an oasis! There are so many races here. Why are Moon Foxes even in the desert?
[BS Crab]: I’m in the city, but I haven’t dared to go out yet. Not sure if there’s any ID proof here.
[Nuclear FlashGuava]: It’s an underwater world. There are Fruitlings here.
[Verdant Verdant Whisper · Windrush]: The creatures here have a high average level. I’ve walked half the street, and I haven’t seen anyone below level 70.
[FuryMotorcycle]: The currency here is different. I’ve never seen anything like it.
[Winter SeaFrenzied Shark]: I’ve encountered a Sharkfin Clan. I’m heading home with them.
[Tiger Ear Kessa]: I ate a fruit. It was delicious.
Rita: ... Do we really need to share things like eating and drinking?!
