Thrown Away by my Family, Cherished by my Enemy-Chapter 27: Li Xiyan being exposed and vulnerable
Chapter 27 - Li Xiyan being exposed and vulnerable
Shen Yuze's gaze flickered toward her, noticing the towel she clutched was barely hanging on, leaving her shoulders exposed, the curve of her neck and upper chest visible in the soft light of the room.
The sight was unexpected, and his breath hitched for a brief moment as he quickly averted his gaze.
A flicker of discomfort crossing his features.
"Wait here," he said, his voice steady but with a trace of urgency, before he turned and quickly made his way to the bathroom.
Within moments, he returned with a bathrobe, holding it out to her.

"Put this on," he said, his tone a little softer now, avoiding looking directly at her as he handed her the robe.
Li Xiyan reached out automatically, but the moment her fingers brushed the fabric, she glanced down—and finally realized how exposed she really was.
Her face flushed deep red, heat rushing up to her ears.
The damp towel clung to her skin, barely covering her, and she instinctively tightened her grip on it, suddenly self-conscious.
How much more can her embarrassment take today?!
Just as she was about to grab the bathrobe from him and turn away, Shen Yuze unfolded it in one smooth motion.
He realized she was in no state to properly put it on herself.
"I'll help," he said, not quite meeting her eyes as he unfolded the robe.
He moved carefully, draping the robe around her back and over her shoulders, shielding her from the chill and from view.
Li Xiyan didn't protest.
She simply adjusted her grip, pulling the robe tighter around herself this time, making sure she was fully covered.
"Thanks," she muttered, her head slightly lowered.
Shen Yuze nodded, finally straightening. "I'll call Nurse Lin."
He turned, taking only a few steps toward the door—when it suddenly opened from the outside.
Nurse Lin entered, a tray balanced in her hands.
Her face immediately twisted into a frown the moment she saw Li Xiyan—wrapped in a robe, clearly in pain, her hair damp and clinging to her face, her skin still glistening from the interrupted wash.
"What happened?" Nurse Lin asked sharply, placing the tray down in a hurry.
She rushed toward them, eyes scanning Li Xiyan with concern.
Li Xiyan pressed her lips together, feeling embarrassed, then she answered, "I slipped... in the bathroom."
Nurse Lin's expression immediately shifted to concern. "How's your wound? Did you fall hard?"
Li Xiyan grimaced, feeling the sharp sting of the injury. "Yeah, I fell on my back. The wound— I think it's torn along the sutures. I felt something give way when I hit the floor. The pressure from the fall must've stretched the tissue too much."
Shen Yuze's face tightened as he heard her words. His mind raced, already imagining the extent of the injury.
Li Xiyan saw the concern on Nurse Lin's face and guilt washed over her.
She glanced away, her voice barely audible. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have insisted I could take care of myself already."
Nurse Lin had always been so careful with her, always warning her to be cautious.
And now, here she was, with this injury because she hadn't listened.
She has no one to blame but herself.
Nurse Lin sighed softly, trying to stay calm. "Let me take a look at it."
Li Xiyan hesitated, biting her lip. "I... I don't have anything on underneath."
Nurse Lin looked confused, but when she noticed Shen Yuze standing nearby, her eyes widened in realization.
Shen Yuze stood there, understanding the weight of Li Xiyan's words.
After a brief pause, he nodded, his voice calm but firm. "I'll go get the doctor."
He turned and stepped out of the room quickly, a faint flush creeping up his neck, though he kept his composure.
Once he was gone, Li Xiyan carefully removed the robe and wrapped a towel around her waist to cover herself.
Nurse Lin gently helped untangle her hair, moving it aside so she could see the wound on her back.
Li Xiyan winced as Nurse Lin carefully peeled away the bandage, the cool air causing the wound to sting.
"Miss Li..." Nurse Lin murmured, her fingers lightly brushing the edges of the torn skin. "This is more serious than I thought."
The wound, still in the early stages of healing, had opened slightly along the edges.
The stitching hadn't fully held, and some of the blood that had been sealed inside was now seeping out, a faint crimson staining the bandage.
Li Xiyan closed her eyes, feeling the sting of her foolishness.
"I'm sorry," she muttered again, her voice barely above a whisper. "I should've been more careful."
Nurse Lin sighed, not angry but clearly concerned.
"You've been pushing yourself too hard. This isn't something you can rush. Your body needs time to heal, and you can't ignore that."
Li Xiyan clenched her fists in frustration, the tightness in her chest only growing.
She hated feeling weak, hated being so dependent on others.
She had been so close to being independent again, only to be knocked back like this.
Nurse Lin began cleaning the wound, noting the bruising and swelling around it—clear signs that the fall had made it worse.
She sighed quietly, aware that only the doctor could properly treat and possibly restitch the wound, but for now, she could at least stabilize it and prevent infection.
With a damp cloth, she carefully wiped away the old blood.
Li Xiyan flinched, a sharp wave of pain coursing through her.
Her voice barely reached a whisper. "Nurse Lin... Can you finish cleaning up? I feel... so exposed. And... clean clothes, please?"
Nurse Lin offered a reassuring smile, her voice gentle. "Of course, Miss Li. Let's get you comfortable."
She wiped down Li Xiyan's back and body, cleaning off blood, sweat, and dirt from the fall. Once done, she replaced the wet towel with a dry one, blotting away moisture.
She then assisted Li Xiyan into fresh clothes without straining the wound.
The doctor arrived a few minutes later with Shen Yuze close behind.
