Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Blood Feaster

Akaris felt himself reach a new flow, his body adjusted to the battle, little by little he was growing stronger.

Not physically but his actions became more accurate, more precise. He was using less stamina with each swing.

He was moving less yet he was still mowing through the blood spawn like a harvester through a field of wheat.

For these week creatures he did not even need to use his mana to take them down, his sword alone was enough.

Most of them barely had more strength than a human before the apocalypse, a top athletic human but a human nonetheless.

To the current him, they were no different from crawling toddlers. He moved through them like a dancing shadow.

He reached a state of tranquility, the world around him disappeared, he felt as if he had lost his senses yet he still felt everything much clearer.

It was a strange feeling, he felt as if the sword itself was guiding him telling him how to move and so he did.

His swing became faster, suddenly he felt a great threat behind him and without thinking raised his sword to block.

A tremendous force traveled through his arms, his body rose to the air and he flew back over a hundred metres away.

He almost fell on the other side of the ocean but he stabbed his sword in the ground and brought himself to a stop in time.

His echo was not so lucky, it was sent crashing on the ocean, he watched its body get dissolved by the blood ocean.

He flinched realising how dangerous that ocean truly was. He was glad he didn’t touch it to test it.

His echo disappeared and reappeared back inside his soul. He couldn’t summon it back, it would take some time for it to regenate.

He stood up and faced the thing that had attacked him. It was a giant tentacle, there were more tentacles around it.

At first he thought it was the corpse shark but then realised the tentacles were much thicker and longer.

There were dozens of them rising above the ocean and the longest of them rose to 50 metres.

Akaris used inspect

Blood feaster ( uncommon)

Level 17

?????????

" Fuck." He couldn’t help but curse, this was the strongest thing he had ever seen, he wondered how the trial expected him to fight this thing.

The blood feaster rose above the sea and he finally saw its real form, it looked like a fusion between an eel and a squid.

It had a slim serpentine body with a pointed squid like head but beneath that head was a mouth with countless razor sharp tiny teeth.

Its serpentine body also had feet like those of a crocodile. The creature looked like an experiment of a mad scientist.

Like a creation of a sadistic evil god. It slowly climbed into the island. Its full body length came into view.

Not counting the tentacles it was more than 15 metres long and standing 3 metres above ground.

All of its tentacles grew on the back of its neck when its long body met the squid head. It glared at him with its red eyes.

He knew this thing was not a mindless savage like the undead and these blood spawns.

It had intelligence, as intelligent as a savage beast could be but that still made it more dangerous.

It turned its eyes away from him and started devouring the blood spawns next to it which caught him off guard.

Its name suddenly made sense, he took a deep breath of relief, he wasn’t made of blo...

He paused, " Shit." The blood feaster lost interest in the blood spawn and turned its massive round eyes at him.

The savagery in them made his blood run cold. The ground beneath its feet cracked, he immediately used future sight.

Through future sight he saw it pouncing on him like a speeding truck. He jumped to the side to dodge then rolled away.

One of its tentacles hit the ground causing stone to fly everywhere, the ground cracked causing Akaris to suck a cold breath.

If that had hit him it might’ve shattered his mana skin with a single attack. He jumped up then twisted his body mid air.

The air cracked as two tentacles missed him, one moved above and the other below. Akaris sucked in a cold breath.

These tentacles were fast incredibly fast, they snapped like whips, their tips broke the sound barrier.

Had he not had future sight he would’ve died, it allowed him to be able to dodge before hand.

Even so, his body found it hard to keep up with such speed, he even thought about using mana to enhance it.

Then he dismissed that idea, he would only use that when he had no other option, doing that was damaging his future potential, I stead he poured more mana into mana skin.

He ducked dodging another tentacle then placed his sword across his body to block another.

The force sent him flying over 50 metres away, most of the force was absorbed by his mana skin and sword.

Yet he still felt like he was punched by the heavyweight champion. He spun mid air and landed on his feet.

He ignored the pain and placed light bringer on his hip. Since he didn’t unequip it the +5 agility stats boost was still there.

He drew his bow and fired a mana arrow at its eye. The arrow’s speed was incredibly fast but so was the blood feaster.

It placed a tentacle Infront of its face blocking the arrow. The arrow pierced deep into the tentacle drawing a lot of blood but it didn’t pierce to the other side.

He clicked his tongue and started running, he pulled his bow but didn’t shoot an arrow. The blood feaster chased him.

Akaris kept using future sight even though it drained a lot of mana. He cut the second into dozens of fragments allowing him to read all of its actions within that second.

Fortunately after future sight reached level 2 it needed less mana to activate, the difference was not huge but it still counted.

He ran through the blood spawn that kept swarming him. Their presence delayed the blood feaster allowing him to dodge its attacks more effectively.

And just like that he dodged and ran from it for five seconds. An arrow with a thicker head formed on his bow.

He stopped and pointed his bow at the blood feaster. It fearlessly charged at him and he released the arrow.

There was a visible sonic booms through the air. The arrow reached the blood feaster in a blink of an eye.

BOOOOM, blue energy spread out like flames blocking his vision and eliminating every blood spawn a dozen metres around the explosion.
