Chapter 295: Saying good bye to the Xenoans.

At ten o’clock in the morning, an unwilling Scarlet was forced to open her eyes and alight from her bedroom by her mother who complained about how much Esong was spoiling her.

On an empty stomach and groggy head, Scarlet scowled at her mother who dragged her all the way to the lobby because their guests were leaving. The empress and her husband were already there, so were Markay and Adler. frёewebnoѵēl.com

She was the only one who was running late, it seemed and if her mother had not come for her, she would still be in bed, under her warm covers and enjoying the sweet embrace of sleep which was denied to her last night since she spent all night climbing that wall. She and Frost had five more crossing points to go.

"Right, I forgot." Scarlet said to herself.

That was an assumption because Mega clearly heard her words and the frown on her face deepened as she eyed her daughter.

"You forgot!!" her mother whispered in her ears harshly.

"It happens, mother." Scarlet retorted.

The Xenoans looked at them and both mother and daughter smiled stiffly, Scarlet even waved at them.

Princess Carana broke away from the rest of the group and she approached Scarlet.

She stood before her and bowed respectfully, with a genuine attitude which had been non existent when they first landed here.

"Thank you so much for hosting us." the princess said.

"It was a pleasure." Scarlet answered.

"No, the pleasure was ours." the princess insisted.

After the surprising things they had seen here, they had abandoned their initial intent of poking around and behaved themselves like the perfect guests. They had even attended miss Du Fyne’s concert the previous night.

As for princess floozy, she had been on her best behavior ever since Carana landed on the blue star.

"I will be back soon with all the things that our empires could possibly trade. Please keep in mind that seeds and spices are the most desirable things to us. The technology of our empire is a tad bit ahead of yours so your energy stones, space ships and the like are not a priority to us. I hope that you will prepare sufficiently for my return."

"I will do my best. princess Carana."

Both women shook hands, and the princess went around, shaking the hands of all those who were assembled here to bid them farewell.

"Well then." she nodded and turned around.

Everyone waited for all of the Xenoans to leave the castle grounds completely before breathing out and letting loose.

"Finally, they were getting on my nerves." Esong said, loudly.

"Why?" Markay asked him.

"You won’t understand." he told his friend.

Scarlet who understood , laughed, and then she yawned and she quickly covered her mouth.

Esong caught the yawn and he took her by the arm with every intention of sending her back to bed. "We were out late last night, you should sleep some more." he said.

As he led her way, Mega’s ears caught what he said and she frowned. "I knew it, he is going to spoil her rotten." she mumbled.

The empress who heard what Mega said laughed and said, "Isn’t that what all husbands do at the beginning of the marriage?"

"I believe it’s called the honeymoon phase." Fey chimed in and added to their conversation.

"Mine still spoils me." Cecily said with a big smile on her face.

Mega just sighed and told Fey, "Cancel your sister’s appointments for the day. If anything is urgent.."

"I will send it Esong’s way." Fey completed her mother’s statement.

Mega was right in having Scarlet’s full schedule for the day cancelled because her daughter had fallen on the bed and already, she was out like a light.

Esong did not know how possible it was for someone to fall instantly asleep but the evidence was right before him. Not only had she fallen asleep but she was snoring lightly, which was very new.

He covered her, removed the shoes on her feet gently so that his actions would not wake her up and then laughed at her spaced pink toes, took a picture of them and left the bedroom.

When he returned to the lobby, walking forward with the intention to leave the castle and head to the training grounds designated to the mecha warriors on the blue star, he was stopped by Fey who planted herself in his path with a cunning smile on her face.

It was that fake smile which showed more teeth than sincerity. She often used it when she was attempting to get his wife to do something abhorred.

"How can I be of help you miss Fey?" he said.

She gripped the small tablet terminal in her hands and replied, "Lord governor since the lady governor is out of commission, some of her urgent duties for the day are going to have to fall on you. At the top of the list being a meeting with the agricultural experts Mr. Oak and Mr. Bell."

Esong placed both of his hands behind his back and asked her with a serene look in his eyes. "Can it wait until the first round of training is done?"

"I am afraid not because according to Mr. Oak, transplanting of the seedlings needs to be done today. The workers are already gathered in their different designated farms and others have traveled to the new farms in the new city which is miles away from here. We cannot lose anymore time, you need to take a look and give your approval." To her, food was more important than the training which was done daily.

She was not alone in that thought, he had a similar opinion. "Lead the way." Esong told her.

Fey smiled, and almost skipped as she led the way out of the castles and they were driven to the vast experimental fields on which the green houses sat. The entire area was enclosed in a shield, and there were strict security measures in place to keep outsiders out. All this was done after the last fire in the corn field.

From where he stood, Esong could see vibrant green and colorful flowers in a transparent glass house. Around the glass house were manmade ponds and streams in which other green and pink flowers were budding as if the winter had not touched them. He longed to go closer and take a look. It amazed him that a beautiful place like this existed and he had never stepped foot inside of it.

It was a busy place and the workers in this section were moving up and down in small groups of three or four. They had smiles o their faces, which expressed how much pride they took in their work.

"This way lord governor." a male security guard led them to the biggest green house.

"What are those flowers in the ponds?" Esong asked them.

"The governor called them lotus flowers, she planted them and filled the ponds with water personally. No place on the blue star is a beautiful as the glass houses." the security guard explained.

"Except for the temple." Fey said.

"I disagree but we are all entitled to our own opinions." the security guard said.

’So one is going to mention the governor’s castle.’ Esong thought, and he wondered why. Had none of them seen the flowers inside or the pets and the beauty of the library? Their eyes needed some cleansing.
