Chapter 684: A return to the human world

Back home, meanwhile, Scarlet was confident enough that nobody would try anything funny since the council had come to a decision so it was safe enough to release her relatives. She couldn’t continue keeping them inside those life pods.

In her house on wine country, she released every pod from her storage space and spread them out in the living room.

"Go and bring them here...." She had just started giving the hounds instructions when she came to the realization that she was about to stress herself for nothing.

So, she did what came so easily lately, snapped her fingers and time froze. "Grab one each and replace the phantoms. Make sure to change the clothing so that their memories match with the present time line.

"And you?" Severus asked her.

She looked up and located her phantom. "I am at the hospital in confinement with my babies. My mother, Fey and Carolyn are keeping me company. I will handle them, you guys handle the rest."

It wasn’t just her family but Esong’s as well, including Emory who she would have preferred to leave behind. Thankfully she didn’t because she couldn’t imagine how Esong would have reacted to the news that she had left her behind and his mother had been killed in this supernatural war if things had gone sideways.

Almost as if Grimm could sense that she was thinking about Emory, the hound tapped the transparent life pod in which she and he said unhappily, "Can’t we leave this one in here for longer. She said mean things about the girls before they were born which I did not appreciate. If the right demon or life angel tempts her with an incentive, she could very well give them away."

"Esong will deal with his mother. I don’t want to put myself between him and her, it never ends well. I somehow end up feeling guilty if I use verbal or physical violence on her. Anyway, I will just seal her lips like I did once."

She looked around the living room and realized that it had become cramped. All the things she had brought from the underworld probably wouldn’t fit in here without making it even smaller.

"Should we move back to London?" She asked Severus.

"Yes."

"Yes."

"Finally."

All of the hounds had an answer to that question, and apparently all of them were in collective agreement that they should move back to the city. She was a little perplexed because it had been her assumption that the hounds loved it here in what she liked to think of as the countryside. Wasn’t that people said, that dogs needed space to run around freely? Why then did her hounds love the city more?

"Did you guys always hate it here?" she asked, curious.

"It’s boring here." Severus told her.

"There is nothing to do but run through vineyards and avoid being touched by all these strangers who find me adorable. I am a scary hound, not some fluffy tiny curly haired dog that goes around licking humans and eating the bones they throw on the ground." Grimm practically growled the answer out.

To her surprise, even Shadowpaw had a complaint. "And the weddings don’t end in this place. If I have to hear wedding bells one more time then I will go insane. They don’t even ring small bells but big ones and if they want the universe to know that they are getting married."

"Let’s not forget the naked humans on the beach." Zex grumbled, almost eating his words because he was unwilling to talk about it.

"What naked humans?" she was very surprised to hear about this for what would be the very first time. Why had nobody told her that people were walking around here naked?

Blaze knew that Zex would not elaborate so he stepped in and explained the issue to Scarlet. "You have been staying indoors a lot so you didn’t know that the beach where that snake shaped pier is has been turned into a naked beach."

She had so many questions about this naked beach, beginning with the knowledge of its existence. Did the acting governor Emmett Wu know about it? Were children hanging out at this beach?

One of the children started to make a fuss and her attention was immediately diverted. Blaze had opened one of the life pods and her youngest baby was demanding for attention.

"She is hungry." Blaze told her.

"So is she." Zana announced and opened another life pod.

Scarlet sat down in the rocking chair and moved both children towards herself with her powers. As soon as she popped her buttons open, all the hounds turned away. Only Severus remained in place.

She started feeding both babies, at the same time. While the youngest fed slowly as if she was reluctant, the fourth sucked on her nipple with a lot of force as if she was on a mission to drain everything before the other siblings could wake up and demand to be fed.

"I think we officially know who will be the greediest." Scarlet declared. She looked at the youngest and smiled, "And the sweetest." She added.

There was something special about her youngest which Scarlet had noticed. Her eyes, for a few seconds after she was born, when she opened them, they had a little green spark which had disappeared rather quickly. Scarlet wasn’t sure but she had a strong feeling that either she was fully or partially kopuko.

If she was one, it was another secret that she needed to hide deeply from the deities. If they knew, they would try to use her the same way that they wanted to use her first daughter. If her daughter was in any way similar to her, she would train her early in life and make her one to be feared so that they didn’t mess with her.

She lifted her head and said to the hounds that were still lazing around, "Start swapping people as I feed the babies."

"One or two of us need to stay here and protect you." Severus told her.

"A hound protecting a kopuko, now that is something which is bound to bring a smile to the face of anyone that hears about it. I killed a deity Severus. I did it after giving birth to five babies with half of my soul power drained. I don’t think that there is anything or anyone out there in the universe that is eager to engage me in a fight of any kind."

Lythia had said it herself, Scarlet was the boogeyman of the deities and all that was supernatural. The only thing she had to fear were the old gods themselves that had turned her into what she was. They were probably the only ones with the knowledge on how to destroy her.

Hopefully, that knowledge would never be put to use.

"In that case, don’t kill anything carelessly when we are gone." Severus said to her. He grabbed Adler’s body first and teleported away.freeweɓnøvel.com
