Fu Mingze looked at Yang Meiyi in shock and disbelief as he asked "What do you mean by, you are pregnant? How Meiyi? You told me you were on the pills?"

"I know but I didn’t know about your fears of having a child at that time so I thought it wouldn’t matter if I lied about being on the pills." Yang Meiyi said softly.

Fu Mingze could not describe what he was feeling. When he and Yang Meiyi first got married, they talked about having a child. At that time he was opened to the idea, but those two years Meiyi left made him felt differently, perhaps he had never felt the misery of his condition because Yang Meiyi was always by his side but when she left, he realized he didn’t want to bring a child into this world to live on pills especially when the doctor has already confirmed that any offspring from him could have the same heart issues.

Yang Meiyi watched as he stood up and coldly said "I will take you home."

Fu Mingze drove Yang Meiyi back home and kissed her forehead saying "Don’t wait up for me, I might be back late."

Yang Meiyi held Fu Mingze’s wrist before he could go and said "Don’t leave me."

Fu Mingze gently caressed her hair as he said "I won’t. I just need some time to clear my thoughts, I will be back soon, I promise."

Yang Meiyi nodded and watched as he entered his car and drove away.

Fu Mingze drove to Bai Jian’s house and knocked on the door. A minute later, the door was opened revealing a half-naked Bai Jian.

Fu Mingze entered the house with a frown and said "Whatever unholy activities you were doing before I came, could you please end it? I want to talk to you."

Bai Jian sighed and said "Marriage problem. How many times do I need to tell you that I am not a marriage counselor."

"She is pregnant Bai Jian."

"Oh. How did that happen, weren’t you using protection?"

Fu Mingze pointed to his bedroom and said "First, take care of whoever is in there and get dressed."

Bai Jian rolled his eyes and dramatically said "Yes, your majesty."

Bai Jian went to his bedroom and a few minutes later, a young blonde woman came out of his bedroom fully clothed.

After she left the house, Fu Mingze looked at Bai Jian who had just come out from his bedroom wearing a shirt and trousers, and asked "Wasn’t that your secretary?"

"She is cute, isn’t she?" Bai Jian asked with a smile as he sat down on the couch.

Fu Mingze looked at him and asked "Aren’t you too old to be sleeping around? And besides, I thought you don’t miss business with pleasure."

Bai Jian sat comfortably on his sofa and said "We came here to talk about you not me, so please let’s get back to the subject. You said you got your wife knocked up."

"Don’t disgust me by using such terms." Fu Mingze said as sat opposite his friend.

Bai Jian laughed and teased "You are going to be a fun dad." When he saw the frown on Fu Mingze’s face, he sighed and said "You and I both know that condoms aren’t hundred percent protective."

"We didn’t use condoms, she told me she was on the pills but it was all a lie. The funny thing is how I told her just yesterday of adopting a child, I told her of my fears and now it’s as if it is coming true."

"Mingze, I understand your fears but there is also a possibility that this child won’t have any heart issues. The baby might be a healthy one."

"You know the funny thing, though I am worried about the child’s health but I am also anticipating his birth." Fu Mingze said with a soft smile.

Bai Jian smiled and said "Don’t be scared Mingze. Even if your fear does come true, I assure you that, that baby will live a happy life because he/she will have a wonderful father like you and an amazing mother like Yang Meiyi. And as a bonus, he will also have a cool uncle like me."

Fu Mingze chuckles and says "Nothing worries me more than you being a cool uncle. To be honest, it was selfish of me to ask Yang Meiyi to adopt a child while all she had ever wanted was a child of her own. Her pregnancy is supposed to make her happy not sad, I ruined it for her."

"Not if you go back right now and embrace her, show her you are happy to have this child regardless of the health issues that may come up. Now that is out of the way, can I finally congratulate you on being a father?’

Fu Mingze laughed softly and said "I still can’t believe I’m going to be a father, I’m good at business but I have no idea how I will be as a dad. What if I make a mistake with him or her?"

"Are you the same Fu Mingze who has made thousands of business decisions without blinking an eye? You will be all right and besides being a father will come naturally to you." Bai Jian said as his smile slowly disappeared from his face.

Fu Mingze noticed the change of mood and said "I’m sorry if I opened up old wounds."

"Still doesn’t change what you felt for her, knowing you, you would have still taken care of that child as your own."
