Even though Fu Mingze had Xia Lian tracking down Hu Yifan, Yang Meiyi still felt uneasy. It’s already been ten minutes since Xia Lian called Fu Mingze to tell him about the real identity of the reporter and Fu Mingze hasn’t left his phone, barking out orders regarding finding Ma Xin.

Yang Meiyi was feeling extremely restless, perhaps it was because the person who took Ma Xin was the son of that murderer, and just like she had been doing for the past ten minutes, she was about to ask Fu Mingze if there was any news when her phone suddenly rang.

Fu Mingze who just finished talking to the head of his security looked at Yang Meiyi and asked "Who is calling?"

Yang Meiyi looked at the unfamiliar number calling her and said "I don’t know."

"Answer it." Fu Mingze said as he narrowed his eyes.

Yang Meiyi immediately answered the call and said "Hello."

There was silence on the other end of the phone, was it a prank call? She was about to end the call when she heard Ma Xin’s voice saying "Don’t do it, no matter what he says to you, please don’t do it."

"Ma Xin!" Yang Meiyi shouted. "Where are you?!"

"She is where she is meant to be, with me." An unfamiliar voice replied.

"Hu Yifan? Is that you?" Yang Meiyi asked with a frown.

"You guess right, it is me. I thought Fu Mingze would want nothing to do with you after you abandoned him, but who would have thought that his love for you would be so strong to the point of him forgiving you for the way you hurt him? But I’m different Meiyi, because I will never forgive you for all the hurt you have put me through."

"I have put you through nothing, it was your father who ruined my life. He took my mother away from me."

"My father did nothing, he wasn’t the one who killed your mother, he couldn’t have been him."

"Stay in denial all you want but your actions prove that his blood runs in your veins. Where is Ma Xin?"

"I’m sure your beloved Fu Mingze is there with you so if you cherish your friend’s life, you won’t say a word of what I’m about to tell you to anybody."

Yang Meiyi looked at Fu Mingze as she said "I won’t."

"I don’t trust you."

"Then what should I do for you to trust me?" Yang Meiyi said.

She frowned when she heard what Hu Yifan wanted her to do to gain his trust and as she removed her phone from her ears, she heard Fu Mingze asking "What did he say?"

"Nothing important, he kept saying nonsense of how I ruined his life when it was the other way round. He said if I want to see Ma Xin again then I will have to follow his instructions."

"And what are those instructions?" Fu Mingze asked with a frown

Yang Meiyi was silent for a few seconds before she said "He hasn’t given them to me yet, he just asked me to wait for his instructions."

Fu Mingze looked at her intensely and asked "Are you sure he didn’t say anything? Meiyi, what happened to not hiding things from each other anymore?"

"As if you were planning to tell me about your engagement if I hadn’t found out." Yang Meiyi said with a scoff.

"Are we going back there? Why do you have this immature habit of bringing up issues that we have already resolved?"

"Immature habit? So you are saying that I am immature, then fine. I will try to be mature, isn’t tomorrow your engagement ceremony, you should go now and get ready for it."

Fu Mingze smiled bitterly and said "You are pushing me away again and this time Meiyi, I swear I won’t come back. You can’t always have things your way, a relationship is based on trust and if you don’t trust me then we shouldn’t even be together."

Yang Meiyi clenched her fist as she watched Fu Mingze take his jacket from his couch, he was about to leave when he suddenly stopped to look at her and said "I love you Meiyi but sometimes love isn’t always enough. I’m done with this bullshit."

And just like that he walked out of the door without looking back.

Yang Meiyi burst into tears when he left and deep within her, she knew that Fu Mingze wouldn’t easily forgive her for her actions.

After cleaning her tears, she brought her phone to her ear and said "You heard it yourself, Fu Mingze definitely won’t be there. He no longer wants anything to do with me. So where should we meet?"

Yang Meiyi took a cab to the address Hu Yifan sent her and felt sick as the cab got closer to the address, he wanted them to meet at the same place his despicable father had hit her mother.

Yang Meiyi paid the cab driver and when he left, she felt goosebumps all around her, the place was so dark and quiet and it was as if she was the only one here.

What was her mother doing here when she got hit by a car?

"You came! You must love your friend a lot."

Yang Meiyi turned to the voice behind her and saw a young man in his twenties who was wearing a cap. "You are Hu Yifan?"

Hu Yifan let out a sinister smile and removed his cap as he said "For two year I have waited to meet the woman who destroyed my family."

"Aren’t you getting it wrong, it was your father who ran over my mother and left here on this cold floor." Yang Meiyi shouted angrily.

"No, he didn’t. My dad would have never done something like that. A man who was prepared to do the lowest form of work just to feed his family would never have run over someone and just leave him there. Did you even investigate or did you just accept he did it just because you were eager to look for someone to blame?"

"He admitted to his crimes."

"And just after that, the money needed for my mom’s operation was paid to the hospital. Don’t you find that suspicious?"

"I don’t. There was an eyewitness who saw your dad’s car hitting someone and when he was arrested he admitted to his crimes so if you think you are going to play mind games with me then you are wrong. I only came here for Ma Xin and not to listen to your nonsense."

"Ma Xin is safe." Hu Yifan said coldly.

"Then where is she?"

"I’m here."
