Triiffic-Soul: Can I Be In Control?-Chapter 149 – Going Towards the Demon Territory
Chapter 149 – Going Towards the Demon Territory
The girl who was known as the Blinker was deeply confused, concerned, scared, and bewildered about what she was supposed to do.
She had trained for a lot of things: being captured, tortured, escaping, eating food quickly, and hiding, but being outed by a random person on the street and then being immediately asked to teach them was not on any of the material!
“Ah–um, yes, wait, no, this, argh, okay, what, this I can’t, how did-dididid you know again?” She mumbled all her words together.
[Is she okay?] (Syrus)
[She seems fine to me?] (Eva)
[There seems to be a difference in opinion.] (Luna) freeweɓnøvel~com
[Well, what do you want to do Luna?] (Syrus)
[Learn how she does her quick teleports.] (Luna)
[The method?] Syrus questioned. If they wanted to do this violently, it was best if they did that now. Otherwise, she would leave the convincing to the other two. It wasn’t that Syrus was disinterested in the ability; she was very intrigued and knew how useful it would be for them, but this was Luna’s turn.
Luna was the one who wanted this the most, and Luna was the one who would need to learn the lessons, so Syrus believed it was her duty to work through this–with Eva’s help. She figured Eva’s innate curiosity would make her want to be very involved with the learning process.
Luna asked, “Do you want to know?”
“Yes, no, umm, I am perfectly fine not knowing. I do not need such information.”
[She has completely lost her composure.] (Syrus)
[Which is good for us.] (Luna)
[It is?] (Eva)
[As long as we don’t scare her off.] (Syrus)
“That’s too bad; I would happily tell you in exchange for learning your abilities.”
“I–I can’t do such a thing.” The girl stood up to face Anlesa, the issue being she was much shorter than Anlesa, so she had to look up to match Luna’s stare.
“Why?” Luna asked, “I would happily teach you what I want to know in exchange as well.”
“I don’t think you can teach me much.” The girl slightly confidently claimed she was still clearly frazzled but held enough pride in her abilities.
“I see… Well, that is quite sad.” Luna shook her head.
“Are you going to alert me to the guards?”
“No, your causing chaos does help me as well.”
“Good.” Her body flashed a purple light as she was ready to blink away. The town was tiny, and there was basically nowhere around, and there was no one looking at them.
The purple light cracked and dispersed. The girl didn’t register what happened for a moment, but when it did, her face went through many of the stages of grief.
The girl cried, “How..?
“Nothing to learn?”
[How..?] Eva was also curious why she knew what Luna did, as Syrus and Luna talked about it before, but Luna hadn’t mentioned knowing how to do it.
[Lockdown, I found the trick.] (Luna)
[I’m surprised you managed to stop her, but that ate a portion of our mana.] (Syrus)
[I know, I won’t be doing it again.] (Luna)
Time had passed since the escape, but it hadn’t been so long that they had reached one-hundred percent again, but they had recovered a large portion during their sleep the previous night.
[I’m glad I was able to get it to work.] (Luna)
What Luna did was something she had read about, which was disrupting a teleportation. This was done by the simple method of trying to teleport the person at the same time. It basically boiled down to two people trying to teleport the same object or person, which could include one of the two people. When this would happen, both spells would fizzle out.
[It certainly wasn’t the proper way to do it, but what I basically did was try and teleport the whole area around us. Which included the Blinker.] (Luna)
[Oh, that’s why our mana rapidly drained.] Eva understood. [But I thought people could only teleport what they are touching.]
[We both know that is not true, but it's also true that it should also be my limit. Which is part of the reason the mana cost was immense, but I spread my space mana around the area beforehand and used that as guide pins. Now, it would still be impossible for me to teleport this whole space. That could never happen, if we kept going, we would just run out of mana before anything happened and injure ourselves.] (Luna)
[I’m surprised she didn’t notice.] (Eva)
[I have to agree.] (Luna)
Luna tried to be sneaky with the trap, but she also wasn’t that stealthy with it. The girl should’ve noticed, but they assumed she must’ve been so distracted with her identity being compromised that she didn’t register what was happening. Luna had to use her teleport the moment the Blinker tried hers, otherwise she would be burning mana if she tried to do it too soon. Even having the space mana traces around them was costly, as Space mana was simply much more taxing to emit from the body and control in the world.
By doing this action so fast, Luna was also hoping to keep the girl stunned, as if she tried to repeat her escape, Luna would need to grab her first, which she honestly might not be fast enough.
“Now, please understand, I do have my own schedule and I can’t be around for long myself.” Said Luna.
[We need to convince her by trading, tricking, or playing with her wants or desires.] (Syrus)
[That’s the plan.] (Luna)
[I am still unsure how we are even supposed to go about that.] (Eva)
[Just trust Luna, she has already put herself in an advantageous position.] (Syrus)
The girl asked, “So… where are you headed?”
Luna happily answered, “Arisea Station.”
“That is a bit out of my pla–”
“Through the demon territory.”
“--what?” The girl paused again. “Wait, are you actually? Wait, seriously? Isn’t that super dangerous?” She made sure not to be loud, but god, she wanted to scream.
[Was the path to it necessarily?] (Eva)
[Eva, what is she?] (Syrus)
[A thief?] (Eva)
[Correct Lilly, but she is also a showy one. She clearly doesn’t do it for profit, there would be easier targets for that, but she goes specifically are culturally valuable artefacts for the most part. Art and historic artefacts, for her, the challenge is the reward rather than the prize. I would assume the same is true for the previous Blinker.] (Luna)
[So they are daredevil thief?] Eva mumbled, [I don’t quite understand the logic.]
[It is about thrill-seeking Eva, but two more things. One, you might understand the best out of the three of us, neither of us matches your enthusiasm with your potion making, especially when you are being creative with it and trying to make something new. Even though the method and result are completely different, you are still finding extremely
[I don’t know–] Eva was still in doubt, but willing to lodge the new evidence.
[Eva, you still held that joy in your previous life, right?] Syrus questioned. [Even when your own body was destroying your ability to work, even through the massive odds you still moved forward to the point you could even do business even what many would consider a crippling disability in your field of choice but she still pressed on. Your actions could have been seen as insane or dangerous by some, well, they probably were seen that.] (Syrus)
Eva didn’t reply in detail, [No, you are right. I understand your point.]
[Good, now back to her being a ‘Daredevil thief’, unless we are wrong and there are other motivations, at the bare minimum, she enjoys this, which means she might enjoy other dangerous adventures.] (Syrus)
[Oh…] (Eva)
“I even have an entry pass.”
“That’s a thing???” Her eyes widened in shock.
“It is, verbally anyway,
“You… got to speak with demons.” Her eyes shifted from shock to deep curiosity.
“Of course, I got an invite, you see, to join in on their festivities. Which I might join this time, but I could always do next time.”
[Didn’t they save a brawl?] (Eva)
[That’s basically a festivity.] (Syrus)
“It would be fascinating to see what they have built, because to be honest, I haven’t seen this territory's buildings yet.” Luna’s cold voice somehow rang out with vivid emotion as she played the devil in the girl’s heart.
[I think Luna has some untapped talent.] (Syrus)
[Sorry, Syrus, you have lost me again.] (Eva)
[Don’t worry about it.] (Syrus)
“I am–” The girl paused as she tried to think of a name.
“Flick?” Said Luna, “It is not exactly on the nose, but it is a little close if you would prefer a more hidden alias.”
She sighed, “It’s better than what I had.”
“What, Link?”
“...”
[Seriously? She just got rid of the B?] (Eva)
[I mean, outside of that, it doesn’t have similarities to the Blinker.] (Syrus)
[Not necessarily. You could take it in the form of linking two locations.] (Eva)
[That sounds like a stretch.] (Syrus)
[Not completely disagreeing, as who would use a name similar to their criminal alias?] (Eva)
[Like us!] Syrus laughed. [I mean, think about it, we did basically use my name for an alias.] (Syrus)
[We didn’t do anything crim–] (Eva)
[...] (Syrus)
[–Too criminal with it.] (Eva)
Flick asked, “Are you really headed for the demon territory?”
“Yes, don’t worry, this isn’t some kind of trap; there would be much easier ways.” Said Luna, “Though speaking of the nearby knights, I wouldn’t stay in the area long; the knights from the church are on a search and patrol mission right now.”
“Wait, what?”
Luna shrugged and whispered, “I was busy, what can I say?” She stepped in closer. “You now know a secret of mine, so does that make us even?”
“I…” Flick bit her lip. She was beginning to realise what her teacher meant by her not being ready for this.
“I say it does… Now what else can you talk about this trip?” She unconsciously lightly licked her lips. The burning hot desire was ignited in her. It was a place she had never seen, a place that was off limits, a place that could have treasures never even seen!
“Well, do you want to come along?” Luna stretched her hand.
